The Dream Saga - Chapter 85
Lee was getting dizzy. He had used too much of his mana. It felt as he’d fall so, I quickly grabbed him to support him walk inside through the door. But,
When we crossed the door, something unexpected happened!
“ZOOM!”
The next thing I saw was out of my understanding. I was in a completely different place…
“What’s happening? What just happened? Where am I? where’s Jill and Ada?” My mind was going to different places. Everything was so fast that I couldn’t understand anything.
“Kai, look! People!” Lee called me, while aiming his finger toward a building that was nearby.
“But how can be people be here, aren’t the zombies here too, hmm wait. This is a completely different place.. Did we teleport again?” I had so many questions. Everything was simply pointing toward one thing and that was a world switch, but it was quite early for a world switch.
“Are you okay now, Lee? I guess we got teleported again in a different world.”
“Yeah, kind of, I feel fine now. I think we should move forward. This world seems less chaotic than the last one, we might get our answers easily this time.” He seemed fine, and it felt as he was used to the world switch, unlike me. He never ceases to amaze me.
“You don’t seem bothered? Are you a psychopath or something? How can you adapt to something so quick! I am in this thing for almost a year yet I get puzzled quite often.”
“Ha-ha, no. it’s just I look at things analytically and strategically so I adapt to situations quickly, that’s all,” Lee replied with a little smile on his face.
“I see. I will go and ask that person about this place. You keep your eyes open and signal me if you see something strange or weird alright.”
As we arrived near the place where Lee saw some people, I found a person sitting on a bench, who I thought might give me an idea about the place.
The person was old. From the look on his face, he seemed a decent guy. I sat beside him on the bench. I had to start a conversation, but it was a weird task for me as I was not a social person so, I started the conversation with something normal, but before getting straight to the point I tried to show a friendly face.
“Hey, hello there, how are you?”
“Oh, hello nice to meet you!” the person greeted me with a joyful face. He seemed nice, so it was easy for me to ask questions.
“The weather is nice today, don’t you think so, sir.”
He replied with his eyes down, “Yeah, it is. But I wonder this weather would be more lovely if everyone was happy and not stuck in this war.”
“What war sir, I don’t understand? Actually, I am new here. I don’t know much about this place. Can you elaborate?” it was the perfect situation. And I asked my question at the right time.
“I see you’re a refugee, too. You don’t know what’s happening right, fine sit down, I will tell you. The aliens have finally breached in our country, too. I guess your country didn’t survive and you’re one of the few refugees. The sloth king is powerful and if we somehow kill him, there might be a hope for us,” old man looked at me with eyes full of pity.
“What? Alien invasion? This country is under alien attack? I don’t understand?” when I finally coped with the trauma of being teleported, I faced another problem.
“It’s okay, son, don’t stress your mind too much. They are attacking us right now. This city is the closest to the border. If our soldiers failed, we will be the first to die, so I am enjoying while I can. There’s nothing more one can do. Let’s just pray”
“Kai, I guess we should go take a look. We might get some clue there I am thinking about. Something, maybe it’s a hunch, but let’s give it a shot. Come on!” Lee suddenly started acting weird as he knew how to go home. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me and ran.
“Thank you, sir. I will go now, LEE WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?” I thanked the old man while Lee dragged me somewhere.
“Lee, what are you planning? Tell me?” I stopped him and asked him in a loud tone.
“Look, Kai, I have figured out something, if you notice we got teleported when we do something that brings a change to a world, and I guess if we involve ourself in the battle that’s happening at the border we might accomplish something, don’t you think so?”
Whatever Lee told me made sense, and I didn’t understand how he thought about all this with so little knowledge about the teleportation, Ecirel, multiverse. He was far superior to me and I was glad that he was by my side.
“Yes, I guess your idea really makes some sense. Let’s hurry and see what we get.”
Me and Lee quickly rushed our way to the crucial battle that was happening at the border of the city. From half-a-mile afar, we were able to hear gunshots and war noise. It was already night, but the area where the battle was happening was quite lit up as there was a midnight sun.
“Lee, how will we enter to area? I don’t think the soldiers will let a civilian to cross and they might even shoot us! What should we do?” I asked Lee in a frustrated tone.
“I have few things in my mind. I hope one of them works, better hurry.”
After a few minutes of walking, we reached the place where the battle was happening. The whole place was a mess, there was nothing organized. All I saw was dead and injured soldiers covered in blood stain clothes, guns and bullets scattered all over the place. Everyone was running here and there and loud gunshot noises almost made my ears numb. There was no guard at the entrance, so it was easy for us to enter inside the area without any problem.
As we entered inside, we found something useful inside the first room that connected it to the trench.
“Lee, look what I found? I guess this will help us in disguising ourself.” I called Lee in an excited tone.
“What is it? By the way, look, I found something too. It’s similar to what Jill gave us earlier, but you should take a look!” Lee answered me while collecting something from the shelf behind me.
I turned toward him to see what he found, and the thing in his hand was amazing. Today was our lucky day. He had assault rifles in his hands while I had army soldiers’ outfit in mine.
“Lee, wear them, these will help us to disguise ourselves and these guns will do their part as well, now only thing we need to do is turn the tables so the world can switch again, I hope this time we open the portal to our world.” I handed a shirt to Lee while buttoning up mine.
“Yeah, I hope so. I don’t want to be stuck in apocalyptic worlds anymore.” Lee sighed.
We got dressed in less than a minute; we looked at each other faces and Lee patted on shoulder before opening the door to the battlefield.
“BOOM! BANG!”
As we opened the door, the noises were heard from the other side was so insane that it forced us to put our hands over our ears. Far from a distance, someone saw us and yelled from there.
“Don’t stand there. Come here as fast as we can!”
“Let’s go Kai, I guess this is it!”
“YES! SIR!” we saluted the soldier as we reached the place.
“Why are you two saluting me? We are of the same rank. Anyway, I need you two to transfer this message to the commander.”
“This is from the command center. We have good news. The sloth army can’t get anymore reinforcements, because there’s news that their planet has been hit with an asteroid and is in complete chaos and the stars are in our court as the sloth king is present on the battlefield, he thought he’d love to enjoy seeing the last of us perish but seems like he’s cornered, kill him and the war will end. By overlord,” I read the letter while rushing on my way to the commander.
“Where’s the commander? I have good news!!!” I yelled loudly when I reached the war-zone and a soldier approached me and told me his exact location and, following his hint, I reached his position along with Lee.
“Commander! Commander! I received a message from Overlord, we still can win the war!” I called the commander who was overseeing the war from high ground.
“Huh? What did you say?” he turned in reaction to me!
As he turned and I saw his face, I was shock. He was someone I knew and dearly cherished.
