The Dreams Of A Goddess - Chapter 10 1.8 Kidnap
Lu Ru and Nicolas had arrived at the now bustling cafe that they both owned. Lu Ru took the initiation to move away from Nicolas and thank him for escorting her back to shoo him back to his girlfriend. She was not going to address Meng as his boyfriend because it was evident even if he was technically Nicolas’s boyfriend, Meng had naturally exposed to her that he was the bottom. Meng wasn’t the dominant one in the relationship but more controlling of Nicolas’s life like a mother hen looking after a little child. However, they were partners in crime so you couldn’t really say it was mother hen with the child. It wouldn’t make sense because they have needs to tend to. There was no way Lu Ru wanted to say about their relationship but it was true in some kind of sense that it was like that.
Anyway, Nicolas and Lu Ru parted ways with each other and Lu Ru went back to work. Lu Ru, obviously didn’t have to work every day since she was the owner and manager but she didn’t want to stay at home all the time. Having a bonding time with her employees could alleviate the alienation between each other and have a better coordination in taking shifts and taking care of the customers.
The rush hours have slowly dwindled and the employees prepared to leave their shift at the cafe only to come back to work the next day. Lu Ru expressed her appreciation to her employees with a small token of her own ‘good job’ and a pat or hug. By the time Lu Ru finished her time cleaning up the cafe, her employees had left, leaving her to close up shop. She took her bag and closed shop. She had thought that Nicolas and Meng were going to spend their precious time together so she decided to walk home.
She knew that it was a dangerous time to be lurking after evening but she didn’t want to ruin the lovely couple vibe around them she had felt when she conversed with them. But one thing she did was turn on her location on her phone if anything were to crop up at any moment. It was worth it if she could make it up for her benefactor that was very generous of letting her live with him and help her register papers for government inspections to know her identity.
Lu Ru was twenty minutes away from her newly bought apartment that was just five minutes away from Nicolas’s house. Lu Ru made sure that she could hear whatever approached her while she walked but when she arrived at her apartment, little did she know that someone would walk behind her when she opened the door to her apartment and gag her.
The moment the towel met her mouth and nose, Lu Ru had knocked out, letting the person behind her take advantage of the situation. Lu Ru did not get kidnapped somewhere else but rather, the person invited himself in and added Lu Ru as luggage to keep her in again and not let her go.
At that same time, Lu Ru had caught her system alert her.
[Ding. Host has finished two tasks in this world. Would you like to accept 10,000 energy?]
Accept or Decline
She pressed the accept button and then completely passed out.
“Oh Lu Ru, how much I have missed you,” the person stroked her hair as he settled her down on the furniture.
He took a belt around his waist and tied both her hands together while he changed her working clothes into more comfortable clothes. Clearly, the only person who would do that was…her brother Lu Zhen.
Lu Zhen had not died. In fact, he was taken in by one of the gangs that he was involved in when she started hacking. Meaning, all the hacking was him using Lu Ru to get information from his rivals to become more powerful than them. When he was shot to the ground the day he had walked Lu Ru out on a date, he was taken in by one of the gang members and he vaguely remembered that one of the people on the sides took Lu Ru and carried her to the ambulance. He was panicking when he was going to lose his sister but after a few months of not finding anything, he suddenly found a clue that Lu Ru had opened a cafe called Delightful Taste. He often spent time with his gang but never did he imagine that he would be held up for another few months with the gang’s activities before he could search.
Lu Zhen had been very frustrated that he could not reunite with his sister but he finally found the chance when he spotted her chatting with her friends.
At first, he was angry that she had made friends but after imagining that she would not go anywhere after him finding her, he calmed down. He had waited for her to leave her shift and there you have it. He followed her to her new apartment and drugged her with chloroform just so he could prepare for his new arrival at her apartment.
Lu Zhen was going to finally connect the bridge with his sister. But that all came crashing down when Lu Zhen surprised her after she woke up from the drug and started crying.
“Why did you come back, brother? Where is mom? Dad? Why did you say they passed away? Moreover, are you lying to me?” Lu Ru had staged a pitiful performance to stop Lu Zhen from anything more than surprising her.
Lu Ru cried and that off put Lu Zhen but it did really startle him.
Did she really know? How can she know our parents are alive? Did she find clues? No…she can’t possibly know.
Lu Zhen had many thoughts swirling in his head and he tried to convince himself. He loved Lu Ru so much and yet Lu Ru wanted their parents. No. She shouldn’t go back to their parents.
Lu Zhen wanted to monopolize Lu Ru all to himself but he had to answer all the questions that Lu Ru threw at him because he didn’t want her to speculate.
“No, no. Honey, our parents had died years ago. Didn’t I tell you?” Lu Zhen spoke, panic hinted in his voice.
“But are they really dead? You told they were dead but there has been no evidence,” Lu Ru hiccuped. “I’ve been searching for mom and dad and I can’t find anything. I really want to see mom and dad but you don’t seem like you want to visit them. Are you hiding things from me?”
Lu Ru accused everything onto Lu Zhen because she did not want to be with him or be near him. Lu Ru wanted a reason to get away from him.
Lu Zhen was speechless at how stupid he was. All the things had been only because he wanted her and yet she found out that their parents were still alive (or that’s what she liked him to think). Lu Zhen did not want to upset Lu Ru any more than she was so she could only admit his wrongdoings.
“I’m sorry. Our mom and dad are still alive,” Lu Zhen sighed in resignation. “Please don’t hate me. I didn’t want you to go.”
Lu Zhen started justifying what he did to Lu Ru and it didn’t make her heart simmer down. That move had made Lu Ru go into explosion and slap his face.
“I hate you!” Lu Ru slapped his cheek with disgust in her eyes. “You told me that mom and dad had passed away and yet you kept this away from me?! I can’t believe it! You just wanted me to stay away from mom and dad so that you could hog all the spotlight. I knew it! You used me so you could make mom and dad hate me, don’t you?”
Lu Ru made up reasons as she went but quickly took her bag with her and rushed out the door of her apartment. During the time that she stalled, crying about her parents, she had taken off the belt tied around her wrists and placed them on the side of the bed. She did not ever want to be in the same room as her brother and Lu Ru needed to leave. Lu Ru did not pack anything and immediately fled her apartment and to Nicolas’s house.
