The Dreams Of A Goddess - Chapter 12 1.10 Change Of Plan
“I was told that she had found someone she wanted to marry. Her brother had told me this. Why?” he was starting to sweat because not many people knew that he had a daughter.
“What if I told you that your son is one hell of a liar,” Meng angrily growled through the phone, scaring Lu Huang a little.
“What do you mean?” Lu Huang did not want to anger Xiao Meng but he truly did not know why he was really upset.
“I had just come across your daughter and she had been traumatized for a very long time now. She been crying since a few hours ago and a few months ago, my boyfriend had just found her lying in his residential neighborhood, seeming like she had run more than just a mile. Her body was covered in hickeys and bruises. I had just met her yesterday and now, I have seen a new batch of hickeys on her. It seems that her brother had visited her prior to breakdown and she is not coping well,” Meng spat. “Lu Ru has been restless and her brother is currently finding her. I will not return her to you until you clean up the mess you have with your family.”
Lu Huang felt threatened but he could not believe what he heard. Lu Ru was still alive but emotionally unstable. Lu Ru was alive but how could Lu Zhen visit her so suddenly?
Lu Huang was very curious as to why she was emotionally unstable but he couldn’t suspect that Lu Zhen was the problem.
“What problem? Why can’t Lu Ru come back home?” Lu Huang asked.
“Because she has been betrayed. When her brother came to find her, she asked if her parents were truly dead and he admitted that he did wrong. When she was little, her brother had told her that her parents had died and that she did all kinds of things with her brother since she was little. She said that she had to drop out of school because her brother thought that she didn’t need it,” Nicolas said into the phone.
Meng had signaled him to stop before he said, “Go find out yourself. I wonder how much pain your daughter has gone through while you listened to your son’s lies. For now, she will be in our hands until I hear you find a verdict. Don’t call me until you have seen it with your eyes about her reports. Goodbye until when you have found your answer,”
Meng hung up without hearing what Lu Huang had to say. Meng had a very good impression on Lu Ru despite him not knowing she was a socialite before. And so, he decided that Lu Ru would not go back to her new apartment. Even though her brother had went into her apartment, they didn’t want to be caught in the act of moving her stuff. And for the time being, Lu Ru was to be a housekeeper until further notice.
Lu Ru readily accepted her conditions because she knew she wasn’t in the right condition to even bother about insisting that she continues to go and work at the cafe. In fact, Nicolas was going to take care of the shop until further notice like Lu Ru herself. Meng had not much to do since he was just an heir so he was going to accompany Lu Ru in housekeeping but more of the grocery shopping and buying clothes.
The months passed by and Lu Ru had gotten used to her role as the housekeeper in the house. Since she usually helped out at the cafe as an employer and employee, she had the skills to give Meng and Nicolas good coffee. However, for cooking, she had to study hard until she decided it was edible for them to eat. And to make up for the loss of food, she ordered adequate amounts of takeout for all of them for a good two months before she finally let them taste her homemade cooking.
Nicolas had just got home from managing the cafe and Meng was sleeping on the sofa while Lu Ru was cooking. It was a surprise that Lu Ru had just stated to cook for them but seeing how Meng’s behavior on the sofa was really tired, he had suspected that Meng was helping Lu Ru with the groceries.
Nicolas pecked Lu Ru’s temple as a endearment for being a helping hand in the household. Meng had also done this occasionally when Lu Ru looked frustrated as if she could explode. Meng and Nicolas cherished her greatly and really felt that Lu Ru had done enough to pay the debt she owed to Nicolas.
“Ru ‘er, I’m back. What are you cooking?” he hugged her from behind but let go just enough that it was considered as not being romantically involved.
“A-ah,” she stuttered at how close he was to her face but other than that, she wasn’t repulsed by his face. “I’m making mapo tofu. The rice has already been cooked and is sitting over at the counter. Can you please set up the table?”
Nicolas obeyed and took the utensils out and the bowls. Meng had heard the shuffling in the kitchen so he woke up from his short nap and sleepily walked to the tables that were set up properly for a homemade meal.
“Hello, sleepyhead. Did you get a good sleep?” Lu Ru chuckled at how cute Meng was at the table.
Meng was wearing loose clothing and so he looked quite small and cuddly. Meng loved wearing Nicolas’s oversized t-shirts while he slept but when there was dates, he would borrow the seldom worn expensive dresses that Lu Ru bought for special occasions and dress up as a girl.
Lu Ru would also help in disguising Meng as a girl with makeup. Meng had not a lot of facial hair so there was no need to cover much of his masculinity traits. Lu Ru did not want Meng to lose his masculinity but she drew out his more feminine traits to dominate and cast a shadow over his masculine angle.
And that ended up with Meng always getting complimented, making Nicolas overly jealous and having stories being told to her to praise her makeup skills.

Lu Ru put the mapo tofu into a bigger bowl that all of them would self-serve with their rice.
Meng looked at Lu Ru blankly before asking, “We’re not eating takeout food?”
The ladle that was about to land into the mapo tofu froze in Lu Ru’s hand before Lu Ru pouted.
“You didn’t want to eat my food?” Lu Ru asked instead.
His tone was quite offensive to Lu Ru and she thoughthe was just making her order takeouts but Nicolas cut Meng from cobtinuing.
“We’re not thinking of eating takeouts. We’re just surprised that you wanted to cook for the whole table,” Nicolas soothed Lu Ru but he knew she retorted for the sake of her pride to cook for them.
“Then make sure to eat it all, okay?” Lu Ru cheered up and scooped up two portions for both Nicolas and Meng to eat before putting less than one portion in her food and quickly ate it all.
Lu Ru was sour that Meng was a little offensive but she knew Meng wasn’t meaning it that way. Lu Ru finished her portion before the rest of them and left to the guest room in which she resided.
The other two were left in the kitchen, finishing up their portions before cleaning.
