The Dreams Of A Goddess - Chapter 14 1.12 Packing Up
Nicolas cleared his throat to stop himself from getting any more embarrassed than what he already had.
“Lu Ru, we have something to tell you,” Nicolas spoke with seriousness.
Lu Ru just tilted her head in confusion because she did not expect to hear anything from them unless it was about the cafe.
“About your parents, they replied back. Your father wants to see you but he must finish a few things,” Nicolas continued.
Lu Ru froze. It had been so long since she had seen her parents. She feared that she won’t recognize her parents and they won’t recognize her. The look of blanched horror on her face made Nicolas and Meng feel the insecurity she felt. They could only release a helpless sigh because knowing that Lu Ru had been gone for so long and securing a relationship that had long been left behind was hard.
Lu Ru held in her inner thoughts so she wouldn’t have to freak herself out because at least, she was going to stay a while here because her parents were busy. She calmed herself down, thinking that it won’t be a short time before she met her parents. She admitted that she wasn’t ready to meet them yet. However, she felt that Nicolas and Meng were missing out on the lovey-dovey scenes that she deprived themselves of because she had moved in and did most of the house chores. I guess, she would have to meet her parents sooner if she didn’t want Nicolas and Meng to forget that they are in a relationship.
“It’s fine, really,” Lu Ru forced herself to smile. “Besides, don’t you want more time to each other rather than me? I mean, I intruded onto something that was sprouting and I don’t want myself to become a hassle. You see, both of you guys deserve something better than just being boyfriends. I think I’m getting in the way of that something. And so, let me step out of this and I’ll be continuing to work at Delightful Taste.”
“No,” Meng quickly shouted. “You don’t know if your brother would show up again. And we don’t want you to get hurt again.”
Lu Ru looked at them and determinedly made her decision.
“If I’m going to see my parents, I must put back my memories of my brother. If incest was my own dazed wrongdoing, then I might own it like I have went through it all. If I can’t face this deed that I had mistakenly made while mourning for my parents, I have no place to be in this society. The world moves for no one but itself. Time does not stop for us to make up for the losses made. And I should move on. If not, when?” Lu Ru explained before sighing and looking at Nicolas and Meng with helplessness. “If I don’t move on, then you won’t move on, too. I can’t always be the core of your relationship. And I have just decided that I will go back to my apartment. It’s up to you to mend your relationship. Not me. And so, I hope you won’t stop me and once you guys fix your relationship, I will personally welcome you to Delightful Taste. That is my wish for you guys. I hope you continue to remain a couple.”
Lu Ru left the room to pack immediately because she didn’t want to burden them anymore. She knew she deprived them of a life together and being the core of a relationship was not right for her to have. Also, she had to find her lover. It was already known to her that she only had one person to find but she had yet to spot that person. Time was still ticking and she hasn’t made a move on. Time wasn’t waiting for her but only making her conscious of counting down the days of opportunity to find her lover.
It was time that she had to move on with her motive for coming into the world she was hosted in. She had one last task to finish before her to say goodbye to the world and she felt very impatient. She could not be a white lotus in these situations. Besides, she may not have to be punished being OOC in the future with her system not giving her many instructions including the system being an administrator with all access to information that other systems did not have.
Lu Ru was in her room when she called out her system.
“System, I will bestow the name, Mir, onto you because I don’t want to call you system. It sounds boring. But, tell me, can I OOC?”
The system popped out in human form, however vaguely like a ghost, in front of Lu Ru.
[Replying to Host, you can do however you most see fit. For as an administrator system, everything is allowed but extremities are not allowed. Boundaries are needed for the prevention of worlds collapsing.]
Lu Ru took time to register all the information in her brain before thinking that she should be a seductive woman after moving out. Lu Ru would have to go back to some club to relive her habits and become someone stronger than the dazed brat she was before. Being more bolder was her plan.
And that was going to happen. When she moves out of the house and goes back to her apartment.
Lu Ru made Mir disappear for the time being and everything Lu Ru owner was all packed up into her backpack. Lu Ru put on her shoes when she reached for the door but Nicolas stopped her from opening it.
“Please don’t go,” Nicolas pleaded.
Lu Ru had grown on Nicolas since the day she was rescued by him and her existence was like a little sister to him. Lu Ru was injured when he first saw her lying on the streets. Her glowing face with pain plastered over her face had made his heartstring pull like she was a fragile woman who could break under societal pressure. But he was wrong. She was very strong and independent with a firm constitution. She accepted everything that had happened to her except her brother’s return. He had thought nothing could break her determination until he heard the panic in her voice the day that she was escorted into his house quietly, avoiding unnecessary attention of noise when her brother was lurking in the neighborhood. He finally knew that what she escaped was worse than the injuries that were inflicted on her during her escape. It may not be abuse but she was being taken advantage of in every way during her blurry phase of mourning.
Nicolas wanted to protect her from everything.
“Nicolas,” she breathed out. “We are bound to go separate ways. I know that you have done many things that I cannot make up to you in this lifetime but life cannot stop for me. Not even you. I cannot wait for the situation to fly by. I must seize the opportunity while I have my life to live.”
“Ru ‘er. But,” Meng stepped in with more worry plastered on his face.
“Xiao Meng, it’s no use. It’s now or never,” Lu Ru stated. “It’s not about me leaving because I want you to make up for each other but for my own good. I need to face what I am. I must look back before I can move forward. If I don’t, I won’t know where I’ll land up without knowing the outcome.”
Meng looked at her deeply in thought. Meng had known Lu Ru for a short time and he felt that Lu Ru was not pitiful. He had thought Lu Ru was just a normal girl until Nicolas spilled all the information of her situation during their time alone. Nicolas would gush about how she was but every single time that he thought he, himself, would get jealous, he knew Nicolas only looked at Lu Ru as a little sister with a possibility to get even more closer if she let on. But Meng knew Lu Ru had her own standard and limits with friends she makes and he was glad that Lu Ru maintained her distance without needing to explain. Her ability to keep her composure had made Meng admire her and commend her for being brave. And with all the events that had happened to her, Meng made his decision.
He shared a glance with Nicolas before heading out a sigh, “I trust that you won’t get yourself into trouble? If you do, don’t stumble back here, crying like a little idiot. Keep yourself safe.”
“Yes!” Lu Ru exclaimed with vigor dancing in her eyes.
Lu Ru felt the trust and warmth that Meng gave to her, creep into her heart. She felt exhilarated and she was not going to let him down.
“I’ll be going then,” Lu Ru saluted before quickly leaving the house for the comfort of her apartment.
Nicolas and Meng had a helpless expression as they watched her figure run off into the distance from the window. They shook their heads and chuckled at Lu Ru’s actions. She had grown up and they could only watch her from afar now until her father calls for her.
“Ru er’s gone, isn’t she?” Nicolas spoke.
“Mm,” Meng hummed as he scooted over to Nicolas. “It’s about time that we should finish what we started since a long time ago, isn’t it?”
Nicolas’s lips spread into a big smile before carrying Meng into the bedroom with a greedy glint in his eyes.
“Yes, Meng ‘er,” he growled before closing the door to their bedroom.
Whatever they were doing were only known to them as it was dark out and they probably stayed up until dawn…
