The Dreams Of A Goddess - Chapter 5 1.4 Her Benefactor
Lu Ru collapsed in the closest residential street that she had walked into and she was not harmed.
Not only was she not harmed, but a man had also seen her as she collapsed. The man had moved her into his house because she wasn’t wearing the correct clothes that a person would wear in public. It looked like she was running from somewhere but the man did not know. He saw the gashes on the woman’s feet and blood trickling from rocks that had stuck on to her wounds. He had even seen the bruises that her legs had and she was wearing a robe that you would wear after a shower. He could not stand to see a woman on the streets so he carried her into his house. He laid her on the sofa and left to get first aid.
He came back and lifted her foot to clean her wounds and saw a lot of scratches. He had thought the woman only ran a little but the fact that she clearly had more than what a normal person would get, he had concluded that she was not a local.
He slowly lifted her foot but what he did not know was that it would make her face wince. He looked at her face and saw her clearly. She was a beautiful specimen that he could describe. The act of her wince could be felt when his heart squeezed but there was something that he immediately became cold.
The robe had shown some of her pale, smooth skin all blemished with hickeys. He did not know what the girl had gone through but he was sure that the woman in front of him did not have it easy.
He continued treating her as Lu Ru had fallen into a dreamy illusion after fainting.
Hours later, Lu Ru woke up completely sore and in pain. She saw a white ceiling that looked quite dull without the sun out. Lu Ru slowly came up from what she had seen that she was on the sofa. Lu Ru endured the pain in which all her muscles were screaming pain.
Lu Ru looked down to her feet and noticed that she was bandaged fully. She also caught a glimpse that the robe that she was wearing was quite ruffled by the sofa so she straightened it and looked around the place that she was unfamiliar with. Her feet had touched the ground in which triggered a breath being sucked in. The pain of her feet could be felt more than the pain in her muscles. She had never felt this exhausted before since the original Lu Ru had never exercised much in her life. She looked down to see her feet all bandaged up nicely.
It seemed to her that someone had helped her clean her wounds up. She waited on the sofa and the room started to shine brightly when the sun hit the horizon and the daytime was about to turn into nighttime. She had heard the door click open and she sat still because she didn’t want to torture herself with the pain assaulting her whenever she had the chance to move.
She patiently waited while she closed her eyes to rest and wait for the person to come and meet her. What felt like hours, a person soon came into the room, and she heard the person trip over something a few steps coming into the room. She had opened her eyes to see someone at the corner of her eyes.
Knowing that she couldn’t see this person, she spoke softly while looking forward to where the TV sat.
“Hello, is it okay if you sit in front of me? My muscles are hurting and I can’t move,” she stated kindly towards the person.
“O-okay,” she heard a rich and deep voice that stuttered after she spoke.
She knew that the person who rescued her was a man so she waited patiently until he shuffled his way in front of her. She saw someone she would consider as a hunk. She was very familiar with his silhouette but she didn’t know when. She had never seen him before yet in her memories, she had seen someone like him.
“I’m sorry if I touched you without permission,” he immediately apologized as he fervently bowed towards her.
Despite Lu Ru being immobile, she managed to laugh softly at his cute behavior.
“Don’t worry. I was not abused. These were my brother’s doing. He’s quite the person to do this. I’m sad that he can’t be with me now. I was there when he was shot,” she kept it simple.
Lu Ru was not going to go for the shy and traumatized girl but the original Lu Ru. The original Lu Ru did not know what she was in when she heard that her parents died. All of it was a blur to her yet she remembered the experienced. Lu Ru could only remember the experience as nothing. All she thought of her parents.
So, all the things that her brother did to her never registered in her mind completely. So Lu Ru was not going to pull the same approach she did for Qiu Long Fei and Qiu Feng. It had to be different.
Lu Ru kept a blank face, like an innocent child that had no idea what was going on except that she ran a long way from home.
“May I ask your…name?” Lu Ru’s eyes sparkled in interest in the man in front of her.
“It’s Nicolas Heimlich,” he spoke, now looking at Lu Ru in suspicion. “…What’s yours?”
He thought that she had something wrong with her. The fact that she looked innocent and somewhat oblivious he did not think that her statements aligned with each other. Also, hearing that her brother made a move on his little sister did not make sense.
“I’m Lu Ru! I used to live with my brother when my parents left us here!” she spoke with clarity. “My brother kept me home and taught me a lot of things. I know the multiplication table along with many other subjects that he taught me while he was in university. But then…” she trailed off with a look of sadness and dullness in her eyes. “My brother told me after many years… that our parents…were gone.”
Lu Ru hiccuped loudly before wailing loudly, releasing her emotions and sadness of losing her parents. However, she became more in pain as she started balling herself in her little space from her sitting position. Her sore muscles were stretched to the max and to feel the pain and sadness literally while she balled herself together was even more painful.
The man in front of her, Nicolas, panicked. He never thought Lu Ru would actually break down immediately when she just introduced herself.
And thinking back, he realized that Lu Ru wasn’t quite normal. She had the body of a beauty and yet her speaking was like a child. He had thought of her having daddy tendencies but when he heard that she was kept home by her brother, he had thought of another possibility. When Lu Ru expressed herself when her brother was not the abuser, Nicolas realized that her brother might have triggered Lu Ru to deny something so wrong. Nicolas guessed that it had to do with her parents dying but he decided he would do something to help the girl in front of him–no, woman. He wanted to help the woman to stand on her two feet and get over this obstacle she was facing.
Nicolas carried Lu Ru into the bathroom and put her into the tub.
“Lu Ru,” he softly called for her.
Her head slowly lifted up and looked at him, her tear-streaked face accentuating her powerlessness in her situation.
“I’ll help you take a bath. Is it okay if you let me?” Nicolas did not want to take advantage of Lu Ru who may have the possibility of being unstable.
“Yes, why?” Lu Ru blinked in confusion, transitioning out of her depressed state. “My brother used to always do this.”
Hearing that Lu Ru’s brother did the same thing, Nicolas’s face darkened.
She was definitely taken advantage of.
Nicolas face darkening was visible to Lu Ru’s eyes but reverted back to normal.
“I will not do what your brother did, okay?” Nicolas smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I will only see your back. I want you to know that your body is only yours and nobody should touch it unless you love the person and they love you back. Your body is should be well taken care of and I hope you can cherish your own body more.”
She looked at him in the eyes for a good second before, she nodded. She knew that Nicolas, even though they had just met, was already worrying for her.
