The Dungeon Of Pandemonium - Volume 1 Chapter 17 Trial Beast Tide?
1st year, 1st month, 28th day
The villagers on the first floor had all calmed down and they had all restarted with their normal lives. The gates which were destroyed in the previous attack had now been repaired and they had added strands of metal to make the door more sturdy.
The wall they had built behind the gate also had some renovation with the walls covered in a sheet of metal to make them stronger.
All in all, the villagers’s living in the dungeon had greatly changed their lifestyle and they were living peacefully.
Of course, it was only for the moment because at the same time, Jin received a notification from the dungeon core.
‘Notification: Trial – Beast tide, will be held at the last day of the month.’
“Iris? What is a trial?” Jin didn’t wait for a moment before he asked Iris as this seemed rather important.
“Oh! there are a lot of different trial but ours is when monsters or animals attack you’re dungeon in order to test it. The dungeon will receive a trial each month in accordance to the strength of the dungeon. While it is really dangerous for dungeon’s to undergo their trial, it is also a great opportunity to earn GP as there will be a great amount of beasts entering the dungeon.”
“Oh, so it is a test on the dungeon in order to evaluate their strength and at the same time a few dungeons will be destroyed because they couldn’t properly protect their dungeon… I see.”
Jin didn’t think he had much to do in order to overcome the trial as he had always kept the dungeon as strong as he could in order to protect it.
He looked at the map closely and saw two things that he could do to improve the level of his dungeon rapidly. Firstly, he could install more traps in the dungeon.
He went to the dungeon core and started paying GP to install traps in order to defend the dungeon upon the incoming beast tide.
On the second and third floor, he added some holes, spikes and the like in order to at least increase the casualties of the beast and reduce their speed when they were going to attack the dungeon.
There wasn’t much to do to improve the dungeon. He knew that the dungeon only had four floors, one being a mine where there weren’t any monster another being the house floor where they were living and only two floors actually had monsters. Of course, the dungeon wasn’t strong enough at the moment to encounter a trial. So, he really needed to improve the dungeon.
There was really no time to waste if he really wanted to make one more floor as he had to get used of the new floor he was going to make.
More importantly, he and Iris had too think which monsters they would summon on the next floor as this would be the future of their dungeon and they didn’t want to make something too weak as it would be unable to endure the beast tide or two strong as the future adventurer’s wouldn’t want to enter the dungeon.
It was quite hard to decide what would be the best for their dungeon with the strict criteria they had. And of course, without mentioning that they had limited funds to make the next floor.
With those goals in mind, Jin went to see Iris to talk about the next floor. She was presently talking with the succubus and the vampire in order to give them their future role for the incoming trial.
Even if when she talked with Jin she had taken a nonchalant attitude, she was actually quite worried about it as she knew that a lot of dungeons would get destroyed by them every month.
When Jin arrived, everyone turned to look at him and he just nodded at the three girls before turning to Iris and asking her to come with him as they had to talk.
Iris rapidly completed her instructions to the three of them and they went back to train before she went to see Jin in the living room.
Without even turning his head, he knew that Iris had entered the room. As such, he started to talk about the next floor.
“In the next floor, do you have any preferences on the monster, and way to floor will be created? I know that you have been thinking about this for a long while now.”
“Erm, yes. I actually already thought about how we should create the next floor. I was thinking of having zombies with revenants in a field of destruction with holes, hills, dead trees and coffins a little bit everywhere. Most importantly I was thinking of creating a fence. The fence would go from the ground to the ceiling and they wouldn’t be able to climb above them or break them. Lastly, the people would be able to see through the fences. As such, it would give a creepy feeling of being surrounded by zombies.”
“Yes! I like your idea. But, we should had some specials zombies in the mix like those who would transport a virus upon being bitten which would weaken the enemy. And finally a zombie lord, one that is able to control the others without any problems in order to create more of an impact on the attackers.”
“Yes, that would also work. And there shouldn’t be any problems with the budget as the zombies cost 200 GP each and they are level 20 and can improve to level 30. The zombie lord costs 2000 GP but can not increase is level and can only stay at level 20. But, his power is to be able to control the others. And finally, the revenant all have high-speed but their attacks aren’t stronger than the normal zombies. They cost 5000 GP and can go from level 25 to level 35. Well, that’s what’s written on the core.”
While they were talking, Jin was actually reading the information of the different monsters they wanted to summon for their new floor and he figured that it was a great idea.
Now, it’s time to create it!
