- Volume 1 Chapter 19 The Trial Versus Floor 1 And 2
‘Notification: The trial – beast tide, will start in: 3… 2… 1… Trial begin!’
The moment the notification finished the countdown, he saw the gates on the first floor being pushed back by some kind of beast. In less than ten seconds after the trial had begun, the gate was already destroyed and monsters were entering the first floor of the dungeon.
It didn’t take long before the hunters started using arrows to attack the beasts. When they got close enough, they dropped their bows in order to take the javelins that the artisans had completed a few days prior.
They threw the javelins one after another without stop however, there were just too much beasts. Wolves, giant serpents, boars and leopards were entering the dungeon one after the other.
The dungeon core was nice enough to show the number of beasts that were remaining before the end of the trial. There were exactly one hundred of each kind of beasts.
When the wolves which were the first one to enter the dungeon, arrived at the walls, they stopped and moved to the side while the boars were running directly towards them.
Of course, with the metal spikes they had placed in the walls, of the hundred boars that had entered, they had already lost thirty of them reducing their numbers rapidly.
However, it only took a few moments, before the boars broke through the walls and ran towards the stairs to the second floor.
As how, they were all going in the right direction, Jin understood that the beasts knew one way or another which road to take in order to go closer to the core.
While they were running towards the stairs towards the second floor, of course the hunters wouldn’t leave them in peace as they were equivalent to food to them.
And finally with the villagers helping the dungeon without knowing it, from the originally one hundred of each four kind of beasts, seventy-five wolves remained, eighty serpents, fifty boars and ninety leopards.
With the help of the villagers, they enemy had already lost one quarter of their force so it was a great help to them. If they were still to get beaten than they really shouldn’t have become a dungeon master.
On the second floor, the skeletons were waiting for the monsters to arrive. However, with their speed, they had difficulties hitting the enemies who were way faster than them.
The only good point was that the beasts didn’t have any choices but to fight against the skeletons since they were waiting for them at the corners of the tunnels.
Since they had to turn, their speed reduced sharply and this gave the opportunity for the skeletons to kill a lot of the beasts. But still, it was nothing compared to their numbers.
However, there was one good news and this was that while the skeletons had difficulties killing the beasts, they could stall for time which gave the chance for Alma, Mika and Venus to attack with magic from a distance.
This way of attacking could be said to be cowardly as they used the skeletons as meat shields. (Well, I’m not sure we can call them meat shield but whatever, you get the point)
But, at least they could deal a lot of damage and reduce their numbers rapidly.
Unluckily, the undeads were just too weak for the beasts tide. However, when they finally arrived at the center of the floor, what was awaiting them were around fifty skeletons behind a giant one which looked like a bull.
The skeleton’s minotaur and his minions, the normal skeletons, were waiting in front of the only entrance the beasts could arrive from. The moment they arrived, the skeletons who had been armed with some weapons previously bought by Jin with GP launched an attack against the beasts.
They themselves were weak but when they were in high number they still could easily kill them. It was like the saying: ‘One person a spit and even us can drown you to death’ or something like that? Anyway Jin who was looking at the second floor didn’t have many emotion as it was still within his predictions that they would pass this floor with a great number of beasts.
The three girls had long since retreated to the third floor under the orders of Iris who had told them the plan previously.
At the moment, the fight on the second floor didn’t concern them anymore as they just had to relax a bit and be ready for the wave to catch up with them.
At the same moment on the second floor, the skeleton minotaur was doing great damage on the army of beasts. He was extremely strong but also slow which meant that animals like the wolves and leopards were to quick for him to kill.
He only managed to hit them from time to time due to luck. As such, he was actually aiming for the bigger targets like the boar and the slow moving serpent.
With these animals, he could still deal damage until it was destroyed so he didn’t stop and continued to hit them even tough he was getting destroyed at the same time by the other beasts.
A dozen minutes after the battle had started, all the skeletons were finally dead and the beasts made their way towards the third floor.
From the original four hundred animal, the remaining were fifty wolves, thirty-five serpents, ten boars and seventy leopards.
This last animal was being extremely difficult to deal with because of it’s speed and combat power but also because of it’s intelligence.
Jin had discovered that the leopard were using the other animals as meat-shield. Well, not that he could complain after what he had done with the skeletons.
Soon after the remaining monsters made their way towards the third floor, the floor of the ghosts and shadows only to receive an explosion from the girls who had been ready for a long time.
