The Dungeon Of Pandemonium - Volume 1 Chapter 41 Dungeons War Preparation
Two weeks passed extremely fast. In this half month, a lot happened.
On Iris side, under Jin’s orders, she modified the dungeon. Firstly, she made all floors bigger. Secondly, Iris added traps on each floor that could only be activated manually. By exemple, on the few first floors, she added traps of poison and spikes that would come out from the walls. But, the worst of the traps were on the 5th, 6th and 7th floor. She added a lot of snow on top of the mountains, the monsters didn’t mind since they liked snow and she created a way to create an avalanche whenever she wanted. As for the 8th and 9th floor, she added big waves that would swipe everything in their way. Of course, it was only in protection against of other dungeons and not against the adventurers. Finally, she added monsters houses on each floor.
The monster’s house was something introduced by the dungeon core after the trials were over. This special item was something that the dungeon master would hide on the floor. In Jin’s dungeon, they made a fake wall in a corner of the dungeon and had the monster house created there. On each floor they added one. This special item was great because it helped take care of summoning the monsters without having to spend GP and also, all the monsters would be sent automatically on the floor. This way, there was no need to take care of the floor once a monster house was built on it since there was always going to be monsters summoned.
With all of this, the dungeon made a leap in strength, all thanks to Iris. However, she couldn’t continue training with the other monsters since there was too much job to be done.
On Mika, Alma and Lilliana who were almost inseparable ever since they summoned more monsters, they took over the leading role of the training from Iris. With all the new monsters, they had a lot of work to do and they had to help the newly recruits get accustomed to fighting in group and following their weird formation.
With all these new recruits, the training floor was becoming more and more active to the happiness of Mika who didn’t like being alone. Everyone were doing their best after hearing the news that it was now possible that there would be a dungeon’s war soon. While they didn’t know what it meant, war was still war so they prepared a lot.
The girls had even asked Iris to buy weapons and armour for every monsters if they ever needed. For the dark elves, Iris got them stronger bows and enchanted arrows. For the harpies, she got them an armour that would block most of the arrows in flight. For the salamanders, they didn’t really need anything since their armour was their skin and their attacks their breath and size. As for the nymphs and dryads, they got flutes. While flutes were only musical instruments, when they played it, they had their charms and monsters or people would get distracted, dizzy and some would even throw themselves to their death. It was in reality a very mystical effect but they were all happy with it.
On the people living on the first floor, the adventurers and citizens were happy with the growth of the dungeon as it meant more ressources for them. For the kings, they all made multiple deals with Venus since Jin was extremely busy. Jin had given some rights of the dungeon core to Venus since the end of the trial. It was one of the new features that came with the end of the trial. This way, he didn’t have to deal with everything like before and Venus could show even more her worth. She liked her new role a lot.
Also, the kings had officially moved their offices in the dungeon as it was more useful this way for their respective kingdoms. While they went back from time to time, even the queens, princes and princesses came to the dungeon with their dad. It was safe to say that the first floor of the dungeon was now a place that one could find everyone from commoner to kings. With all these changes, a lot of people had made their way in the dungeon. If one could count it, than it would be easily fifty thousand in total from the kingdoms. The economical situation in the dungeon had given more than one person the urge to come so everyday more people came to live in the dungeon.
As for Jin, he was busy reading every reports on every dungeons possible. He wanted to learn everything he could from those dungeons. However, there was easily more than a few dozens reports on each dungeons. Multiplying this with the twenty dungeons in every kingdoms, he easily had more than a thousand different report to look through.
After seeing this number of report and a lot of useless information, Jin had summoned paper and pencils from the dungeon core and had started to write every main points from every dungeons.
Weirdly enough, the other dungeons didn’t have a name. Jin believe that they must have named the dungeon’s after themselves or they just didn’t give the name of their dungeon. As such, he used the map and the numerical system that each kingdom had used to identify the dungeons.
This way, Jin learned that most of the dungeon’s in the kingdom of water were well… dungeon’s of water. As for the dungeon’s in the earth kingdom were mostly monsters found in deep forests. In the fire kingdom was more fire monsters and in the air kingdom was aerial monsters.
At this point, Jin was wondering if the kingdom’s got their name because of the type of monsters there was in the dungeon or if the dungeon’s got their monsters in function of the name of their kingdom.
After two weeks of hard labor, Jin finally finished reviewing every reports he had received from the kingdoms into a few pages for each dungeon. However, these pages had all the necessary information.
As such, Jin was prepared when he received the first war request. It was actually great, he had the option of refusing a war request but one would suffer the consequences. It wasn’t written the consequences but he guessed that it depended on the conditions of the request.
This time, the request he received was from the dungeon number seventeen in the kingdom of air which was at the east of the four kingdoms.
Seeing the dungeon which had sent a request, all the information he possessed about this particular dungeon came to mind. This dungeon in particular was a dungeon where the monsters were high in numbers but really weak. However, the boss monster was a c.o.c.katrice which was strong enough but Jin believed that Lilliana could take it out by herself not to mention the help of the other leaders. As for the other monsters, they were mostly wyverns and rocs. While these two types of bird were known to be strong in the nature, they seemed to be missing either intelligence or strength in the dungeon.
One thing that needed to be known was that the numbering system of every dungeon was where the number one was the strongest of the twenty so seventeen was quite weak. And more than anything, because of the lack of change in the dungeon, they had slowly lost interest in it.
Because of all of this, the dungeon had mostly stalled in it’s development and had never went further than the third floor.
“Euh? This is weird… Didn’t we come to an understanding that the trials were finished because we attained the tenth floor? Than, why did he only have three? Could it be a time limit? With all the time Iris has been alone it was between what four to six months? So after this time the dungeon protection end? Well, she herself weirdly doesn’t know how long she had been alone. Well, who cares? It’s better for us anyway.”
After a few days of working, Jin had started talking a few words to himself from time to time. However, after two weeks, he now had serious conversation with himself.
“Okay… Well, I know everything about this dungeon. It is weak, hated by the citizens of the kingdom of air and it did not diversified it’s air monsters. Let’s see the war request.”
Jin touched the dungeon core and a notification about the bet and the rules appeared in front of him with the button accept or decline.
Here were the rules: 1. To win, one has to either touch the dungeon core or to kill every monster the other dungeon possess. 2. A linked passageway will appear in each dungeon’s entrance. One can change the place of the dungeon entrance portal as long as it is safe when they get out and not outside of the dungeon.
As for the bet: The winner will take over all of the GP from the other party while the loser loses the GP and two active floors. For the number of GP in the bet, it will depend on fully cleaning up the one with the less GP.
Jin had no problems with these conditions as the rules were extremely clear and one could not use the monsters from another dungeon. And he totally believed that the other dungeon for one didn’t have a chance against him and two had less GP that he had.
However, before confirming or declining the war request, Jin asked Venus to bring every leaders in the house to talk about it since it was a big decision to make.
