The Dungeon Of Pandemonium - Volume 1 Chapter 46 Talking With The Air King
At the end of the dungeon’s war, after finishing setting up the priorities, everyone just fell asleep.
For the monsters, they were all tired after the battle they had just fought while Jin and Venus had been working on the dungeon. Adding all the stress Jin had felt in the last two weeks, he really needed to sleep.
As such, every monsters from the house floor to the training floor were sleeping soundly and thanks to the house floor, the regular amount of monsters reappeared on each floor.
Since they had not yet notified the first floor that the dungeon war was finished, there wasn’t any adventurers willing to go to the second floor. Firstly because there might be a lot of monsters and secondly because they didn’t dare to go against Jin.
It hadn’t been a lot of time since Jin had showed himself to the world and the people who had seen him all had a fervent fear of him. Not a fear of being killed, but they completely felt like they were on two different level, two different kind of existences. Well, this was true since he was a demon but still, they didn’t feel like they could win against him. As such, they listened to the rules and orders he placed in the dungeon since after all, he was the owner.
The next day in the morning, Jin woke up before everyone else. Ever since he had become a dungeon master, he had become more focused on the job and worked harder than everyone else. While everyone else was still sleeping, he made breakfast for everyone on the house floor and left it on the table.
Once this was done, he left the floor to go on the first floor. He had a few matters to discuss with the king of air.
Jin had walked up to the first floor to look at the dungeon in person and ask the monsters how they were doing. He believed it was the right thing to do since they were still helping him. Of course, he didn’t ask the zombies, ghosts and skeletons since they didn’t have a consciousness and couldn’t talk on their own.
He arrived at the entrance to the first floor and saw that there were gates blocking the passage. He lightly knocked on the gates and the people on the other side opened them.
He hadn’t expected the people to open them when they heard a light knock on the door. If they were going to open them, what was the goal of the gate? But still, it was quite a good idea from them to have created a gate so he wasn’t going to comment on it.
He told the guards to tell everyone that the dungeon war was completed and that they could go back inside. And then, he made his way to the air king’s residence.
When the servant attending the king of air saw Jin, they made way for him to enter and an attendant when to notify the king. While everyone was doing their job, Jin went to the table and a servant brought him food and drinks.
Jin immediately started eating the food, not bothering to wait for the king who was making his way to the room. How did he know that the king was making his way to the room? Ever since he had first transformed in a demon, his senses had become stronger. As such, he could hear the king making his way to him.
He was hungry since he hadn’t bothered eating when he had made food for everyone else. So, he didn’t care much and just ate. The king was over fifty years old. So, he would understand right?
And he was right! When the king arrived in the dining room and saw Jin eating, he simply smiled and joined him. Normally, a king wouldn’t eat with other people if they were not nobles or royals. But, Jin was different, he was a different existence and they had to stay in good terms together since they lived in the dungeon.
“Good morning, I came here to inform you about the situation of the dungeon number seventeen in your kingdom… And also eat.” Jin smiled as if it was totally normal to eat in someone else’s house uninvited. While the king kept a friendly smile, the servants were momentarily stunned when he heard his statement.
“The dungeon number seventeen shouldn’t have any monsters presently and the only remaining monster should be the dungeon master which look like a giant bird. I would like you to send some soldiers or adventurer’s inside and take over the dungeon. I am wondering what would happen if a normal human touched the dungeon core, what would happen to the dungeon. It should be a good opportunity to learn more about dungeons and it would at the same time take a threat off your kingdom.”
Jin talked while eating and focussing his gaze on his food. As such, the king could only listen while eating with him to be polite.
“Sure, I don’t mind sending someone to take over the dungeon, to touch the dungeon core. However, what does a dungeon core look like? And what do you mean by threat to our kingdom?”
The king was momentarily startled but was a little panicked when he heard about a threat to his kingdom.
“A dungeon core looks like a round ball. It will be either blue or red in colour. Either way, when they see it they just have to touch it. And as for the threat, I am talking about the dungeons of course. Did you really think that dungeon’s were merely ressources to be used bu the kingdom’s? The primary goal to our existence is to be a challenge to humanity. When people are in the dungeon or die, we get GP which can be exchanged for monsters or objects like you already know. But, the primary goal of a dungeon master, the reason of our existence is to fight humans. As such, when some dungeon’s are strong enough, they can send their armies of monsters on the outside to kill humans. After all, we, dungeon master’s, are demons. And demons are the enemy of the humans.”
This explanation was about information that probably not many in this world had. Maybe in ancient times or in other kingdoms they knew what was the goal of dungeons. But, seeing the expression on the face of the king, he was certainly not aware of this.
“And…? What is your position on this matter? Are you going to send your monsters in the outside world at some point and attack the four kingdoms?”
“No, no. That would be contrary to business. If I sent my monsters in the outside world to fight the four kingdoms, I would lose my means to get GP and that would be totally stupid. At most, if an enemy ever invade your countries, I will send my monsters as mercenaries or something.”
Jin finished talking and he believed that it was time to end the discussion. He saw that the face of the king was pale but also overjoyed since they had a protector which could control monsters. Well, as long as they could pay the price. Jin got up from his seat, bade farewell to the king and went back in the dungeon. He knew that the king would send people to the other dungeon immediately and do what he asked for.
When he arrived on the house floor, they were still all sleeping so, he went to the sofa and took a rest, waiting for the others.
Now, the only thing to do was to confirm the losses in the dungeon war and summon back his troops and wait for the news of the air king about the other dungeon.
