The Dungeon Of Pandemonium - Volume 1 Chapter 5 Hunters Village
In the village, the men had to go hunting or fishing everyday to get enough food and the one who couldn’t hunt were working to make tools for the villagers. The woman were working to keep the village clean, creating clothes, taking care of the children while the old were making remedies and teaching the young ones the way of the village and preparing them for their future role.
Since they were a village deep in the wilderness, their trades with the bigger cities were non-existant and their only way to survive was to trade with the other villages who like them didn’t keep any relations with the cities.
One thing was for sure, they couldn’t afford luxuries since their village was poor.
One day, precisely the day were the hunters were brought to the dungeon, something changed from their normal lives.
The hunters, who should only come back at night falls actually came back a few hours after departing.
Of course, such an event was extremely rare and the chief was notified of such an occurrence.
He walked through the village to meet the hunters. The houses were made of woods and there were holes here and there. The road made of dirt was still wet from the rain from the previous night and just walking outside would dirty someone.
Looking at the buildings and the condition of the villagers made him sight as they were truly too poor to even have a good life condition.
He went to meet the hunters and what he saw surprised him. They weren’t hurt or anything but there seemed to miss someone.
He panicked a little as the hunters were really important to the village and if one of them had died, it would put a burden on the others. However, when he saw the faces of the other hunters, he couldn’t understand why they were so happy.
“Chief! You won’t believe what we found!” The leader of the hunters, Gray, was the first to speak up and he couldn’t suppress the excitement in his voice.
Seeing the commotion, most of the women, elderly and children were intrigued and they all came closer to see what was going on.
“Gray? Where is Blue?” The chief couldn’t suppress his worries and asked directly.
In the village, the hunters were all represented by colour. Whenever they joined the hunter’s team they would abandon their previous name to take a colour to represent them.
“Blue? Oh don’t worry, he’s fine. More importantly, look at those.”
He took out the coal and the copper he had gotten from Jin and showed it to the chief.
“We found those in a cave not far from the village and Blue is currently guarding the place to make sure the other villages doesn’t take them.”
When the chief took the unassuming rocks, his eyes immediately brightened up. “How much were there in the cave?”
“I wouldn’t be able to say. The walls of this cave are full of these ores and there is way too much to count.”
The chief didn’t need to hear it twice as he immediately called a few men who couldn’t hunt, half of the hunters and he told them all to take pickaxes. Those tools were made of wood because metal was truly rare in the wilderness.
In the past and even now, their village had been known to have great artisans. However, since there weren’t enough ores, smithing had become less popular since they didn’t have the raw materials to make tools of metal and gradually the number of people making tools of metals could be counted on one hand in the village.
However, if they really did find a mine with a lot of ores, most of the villages problems would be solved and they would be able to make more money to live better lives. As such, he didn’t hesitate to send half of the men of the village to the mine as it could change the village’s fate.
The men immediately left after receiving the orders from the chief and with the hunters they went towards the cave behind the waterfall.
In front of the cave, the men took a few minutes to clean up the trees, branch, and everything that were in their way because the carts they had brought with them couldn’t pass well on the small road towards the entrance.
Before the night fell, all the man had already arrived in the dungeon and they were getting ready to go and get the ores.
The hunters reunited with blue a few hours after separating and the hunters and villagers who had been in the cave for the first time were shocked to see a cave that seemed even more prosper than the land they were living into.
It didn’t take long for some of the villagers to have ideas to make the village prosper with this beautiful land.
By exemple, some of them tough of making houses in the cave since it was more beautiful inside the cave than on the outside and others were already thinking of building some warehouse to store the ores while others were thinking of building a smithy to create the tools directly inside the cave instead of wasting time transporting everything outside the cave.
The men left the carts not far from the tunnels and they all went inside with a few of the hunters protecting the entrance of the cave to make sure no one could enter it.
It also meant that Jin and Iris who were already in the dungeon were stuck there but it didn’t really matter to them as they would eventually be able to make secret entrance in the dungeon as such they would be able to leave whenever they wanted.
On the dungeon’s second floor, Jin and Iris were already asleep and they would have a surprise when they were going to wake up.
With over fifty villagers and hunters in the dungeon, the points they were getting were far better than what Iris had collected over the few months she was alone.
The points alone were in the hundreds per hour already and it was only the beginning. It was going to be of a big help for the two who really didn’t have much GP to spare yet.
