The Dungeon Of Pandemonium - Volume 1 Chapter 8 Choice
At the moment they finished laughing foolishly at the words of one of the hunter, they heard a large sound of a step.
“Bam!” With the sound of the foot of the minotaur skeleton, the ground trembled slightly.
When they heard the sound, the hunters all stopped laughing but they soon relaxed when they tough that they were in a safe zone.
“Bam!” Once again, the footstep was closer than the previous one but this time the hunters totally ignored it.
Soon enough, the sound of the steps from the monster and the small tremblement in the ground were getting louder and stronger.
One of the hunters getting tired of the noise got up and said in great spirit: “Leave it to me, I’ll go fet rid of this monster who doesn’t stop disturbing us of our great conversation.”
The others just let out a smile and waved their hand at him before he left.
However, not more than twenty seconds later, a scream could be heard coming from the direction their friend had went.
They all took their weapons and in tight hunting formation, they advanced towards the place their friend had left only to find out a body without any arms.
A face of disbelief could be seen from the hunters as they all knew how strong he had been and under a few seconds, he had actually died without being able to do anything to defend himself.
With one if them dead, none of them felt like laughing anymore as they all stood ready for action.
Unluckily for them, the minotaur had already left the seen after he had killed one of the hunters from the group under Jin’s command.
He had retreated a few dozens meters back and turned 3 corners in order to hide his massive body.
At this moment, the skeletons in the other corridors bringing the the center of the second floor all started to move and assemble themselves in the center of the dungeon.
If the hunters wanted to go back to the center, they were sure to face a fight that would put their lives on the line.
Once they were all assembled, they started to move towards the only corridor where there hadn’t been any skeletons coming out from since they had already been destroyed previously by the group of hunters.
As they advanced without making too much sound, the hunters were stressed as they didn’t really know what to do next. They could always go back to the center of the area but they weren’t sure anymore if it really was a safe zone.
On the other hand, if they decided to go back on the first floor, they would most likely meet the monster who had killed their companion in just a few seconds.
Both ideas were full of flaws as they did not know where the monsters were. At this point, they finally understood the terrifying might of a dungeon.
It wasn’t only the monsters that made a dungeon difficult, it was also how the corridors were placed where there could be monsters around every corner. Without forgetting the lack of information, they had while exploring a dungeon. They couldn’t know where the strongest monster were at and they didn’t know how strong they were either.
After all, their friend could only have been unlucky while fighting the monster but it could also have been that he had been totally overpowered.
The number of enemy on the floor was also a point very important as they didn’t know if there were only a dozen left so they could run through the dungeon across another passage to make their way back. Or, if there were still thousands of them waiting to see them run in a trap.
These factors were what made the hunter’s hesitate on what to do. However, who said they had a chance to choose?
The dozens of skeletons left in the dungeon were all behind them and in front of them was still the dungeon’s boss monster.
They still had a choice where to go and fight first however if they took too long, they would have to fight both at the same time and this time they really would be finished.
The hunters started to hear noises coming from behind them as the skeleton’s army was coming closer and closer to their position making them even more nervous than they had previously been.
The moment they decided they wanted to avoid the swarm of monster, they felt a small earthquake coming from in front of them.
Feeling the earthquake, they couldn’t help but look at their friend who was lying dead on the floor, who didn’t even seem to have had the chance to offer a good fight against the monster.
With the choice to fight in front or behind them, the small hunter’s group all started to look towards the most experienced of them, green.
Gray and Blue were the oldest of the hunters with the most experience and after them came green who had almost the same amount of experience as their two leaders.
Of course, green understood that he had to make a choice and fast at that because the moment the group of monster and the monster who could instantly kill one of the most skilled hunter appeared together, it was the end for all of them.
Even tough green tough so much, he took less than ten seconds to take in the facts and making his choice. He turned towards the other warriors of their little village and said in a high tone: “Let’s go fight the enemy behind us. We at least know that they are weak but this time they have a high number. We just have to give everything we can to escape this encirclement and go back on the first floor.”
Of course, he didn’t say it but all of them understood that a lot of them would fall in this battle to the death.
They turned around and prepared themselves to intercept a high number of skeletons that had come to reap their lives.
