The Dungeon Of Pandemonium - Volume 1 Chapter 9 Army Of Undead
Under the leadership of green, all the hunter’s turned around and started to advance towards the army of undead. They wanted to advance the most possible before encountering them because the strongest monster was getting closer to them.
They took their V formation and started to walk towards the enemy. This formation could be used to fight an army of monsters because most of the time, they didn’t have a great intelligence and they would only run into their enemy.
Thanks to that, the V formation could easily be used since the monsters would basically enter in the V by themselves.
When they were inside, they would be attacked from all side until they died. Once one was dead another would replace and they would repeat until they were all dead.
Of course, this formation had a flaw being that if the skeletons were controlled by someone, the skeletons might just attack a single side of the formation making the other side completely useless.
Soon after they started to walk, the undead’s army was finally in front of them. Although the “army” was quite small, they were still a force to be reckoned with since they didn’t know pain nor fear and would continue to fight until they were destroyed.
They didn’t have much time since the other monster was closing in on them so they didn’t prepare anything more than their formation and they started their attack.
The hunter’s were fighting with their all because they knew that a small mistake or being to slow would mean bringing everyone to death with them.
At the beginning, there weren’t any problems as they rapidly killed a dozens skeleton at the cost of one life. But, the moment they thought they were going to be able to leave this place alive, the skeletons started to attack only certain points of the formation.
Ganging up on some of the hunters at the same time made the hunter’s who had the upper hand fall back to status quo as they started to lose more and more hunters.
Despair could be seen on the face of the majority of the group of hunters but since it was not their first time fighting for their lives, they did not fall back.
More like they couldn’t fall back because the sound of the steps were getting closer at a fast rate. They couldn’t afford to be going easy of back off the fight as such the only option left was to give everything they had.
The skeletons who had started to gang up on certain point of the formation totally broke it and soon enough, it was all man for himself as they were all fighting for their live in their own part of the room.
Each of them had three or four skeletons each and they were fighting with everything they had to survive.
However, even with their will to live, the skeletons started to kill more and more of them. From the twenty hunter’s from the beginning, only half of them were left and for the skeletons who had started with a hundred, there were approximately fifty of them left plus the minotaur who was getting closer.
With the noise of a big battle, you could hear the exciting steps of the big monster which was getting closer and it really seemed like he wanted to join the battle. Three minutes later, only seven hunter’s were still alive while forty monsters were still alive.
The hunter’s were all sweaty as they were fighting with everything on the line. They broke their own limits in order to just make one more slash against the monsters in front of them.
They were all feeling extremely tired, however they knew they couldn’t rest because the moment they relaxed a little would be the time they would sleep forever.
“Broke trough the remaining skeletons and move on the other side, the other monster is about to arrive!” Green shout woke up those who had forgotten about the strongest monster they still did not meet.
Under his command, the hunters ran past trough the skeleton’s broken army and manage to do it without having anyone be injured or killed.
They ran towards the center of the hall and made their stand there. They knew they wouldn’t be able to outrun them who knew the dungeon like their own courtyard.
They prepared their weapons and took the little time they had in order to drink water since they had totally forced too much.
Soon after they were done preparing, the few dozens of skeletons remaining arrived in front of them and the fight for survival restarted.
Bones were everywhere as the hunters were killing more and more of the monsters. It didn’t take long for them who had prepared before meeting them to finally manage to kill all the skeletons remaining.
However, at the same time, they lost two more members and from the start of twenty hunters, only a measly five remained.
After the fight they really did not have any energy left and they fell on the floor amongst the pile of bones.
They rapidly prepared themselves because the last monster was coming towards them. They were not sure wether they would be able to beat it but, at least they had to draw him out of the tunnel to be able to escape back to the first floor.
The sound of steps that they had been hearing for some time had stopped. They couldn’t hear anything or feel the ground shaking. They couldn’t help but wonder what the monster was doing but they were completely for it as they desperately needed some rest.
It didn’t take lone for then to understand why the monster had stopped walking as they only heard the wind cutting as a bone passed right next to his face at high speed.
“F*ck! He’s actually throwing us the bones of the skeletons we defeated!”
It didn’t matter much to them as they only had to hide next to a wall to evade the attacks. The only reason it was bad was that they couldn’t prepare themselves well before meeting with the monster.
Of course, without saying, it was Jin that was telling the minotaur skeleton what to do as he had wanted to see the strength of those supposedly strong hunters.
He had been controlling the monster to make it make noise giving them fear to force them to go against the skeletons that he had prepared to fight against them.
Once everything was completed and he had successfully understood the strength of theses hunters, he left the minotaur do what he wanted and of course you didn’t need to wonder what it was…
Of course, it wanted to fight them!
