The Dungeons Endless Predicament - Volume 1 Chapter 25 Healing
After deciding on their plans John went to the other side of the cave and sat down to meditate. It wasn’t very late and the sun had yet to begin to set so he decided to get in some practice.
After having traveled for the past month his body had become much more used to cultivating. His aura and mana flowed through his body at a rapid pace almost like his blood. The traveling had exhausted his body every day even with his stamina. This was far better for him then normal practice due to his high vitality and lack of proper equipment. If he was in a better environment he would at the least be able to use high weights to tire himself out and then rest in a good bed but at current he had neither so the best way for him to ready his body for the next level was through near constant strain. Walking for hours on end with Liz on his shoulder fit him just fine for this.
Now that he would have sometime to fully rest his body and have some proper recovery. To help this along the Void Eater method was second to none. With it he adsorbed more energy into his body and put it to use healing any and all fatigue his body had under gone. With this he would be ready to advance by the next afternoon at the earliest.
While cultivating he let his mind wonder a bit onto a topic he had been thinking of quite often as of late. Is the light element really only useful for purification, beam attacks and illusions? He could understand that light was a hard to understand thing. Just look at how many debates had sprung up around it in the scientific community in the past. While thinking on the topic he remembered that a few years prior some scientist had managed to crystallize light in a special chamber. What if he could do the same? Many natural crystals are known for how deceptively sharp they could be. If he could somehow form a spike out of light wouldn’t that be a good attack or even trap?
First he would have to learn how to manipulate light correctly. While traveling he would try to use the elements he could control. Life , earth and lightning were the ones he found easiest to summon and manipulate. Forming little statues of earth and making plants grow in odd shapes had become a common pastime for him as he traveled with Liz. He had been more careful with lightning and had on occasion singed himself with it. Light and fate though were much harder. He had become able to make light a bit brighter in some places while darker in others but that was the limit of what he could do currently. As for fate he had no idea on how to even start and had yet to make any phenomena appear.
At first Liz had told John that the way he could manipulate elements was abnormal. Apparently people could only use their elements when using a technique or a spell. The only exception was for the really talented individuals and even then it was usually only for their strongest affinity. After thinking on it he thought it might have something to do with how he became a cultivator but he could neither prove it right of disprove it, so for now it would be left up to fate to decide.
Well all of that should be left for when he had access to some informational books. For now he needed to get stronger and his two methods were they best he has. As he was thinking on his problems his body was heating up and healing. The strain from the travel had done more harm then he thought. John was not someone to travel for long distances on foot so he had no idea about how to place as little strain on his body as he walked. The places that needed the most healing were his feet and legs. As his feet healed the skin on the bottom of his feet became thicker and the muscles more tough. Besides his feet many other places on his body began to heal. All of his muscles become tougher giving his body a much harder feeling. Where before he still had some fat on his body muscle now took place.
As John was healing Liz had welcomed Eva back into the cave.
“Welcome back. Did you have any trouble?” Eva was still a young child so it was natural for Liz to worry over her.
“I’m fine.” She looked around the cave and found John sitting down. His skin had become flushed and his body would occasionally twitch.
“What is John doing?”
“Oh that. He’s healing his body. We traveled for quite a long time before coming here and his body had built up a lot of fatigue, so he needs to heal it in order to rest properly.”
“I’ve seen my brother heal after a long journey but all he did was lay around on the couch. Is he really OK?”
“Don’t worry about him. Even if he looses a limb it will only take him a few weeks to heal back up. He’s just that tough.”
“That’s a bit weird. Um can I ask you about something?”
“Sure. What’s up?”
“Why did you two decide to help me. You even went as far as healing me and helping to disguise me.”
“Hmm. Well for me I felt it would be bad to leave you out here but John said he got a feeling something bad would happen would happen if we did.”
“Is that really OK. After being around you for the past few hours I feel that you both have something important to do. Won’t I get in the way?”
“You’re right the two of us have an important goal, but we won’t be able to accomplish it for a long time so helping you for now is no problem.”
“Thank you, really without your and Johns help I feel that I would have died. I was so cold and hungry. I didn’t even know when I last ate.”
As Eva talked a wish began to form inside her. She wanted to help them if even only a little. She wanted them to be able to achieve the goal they set out for.
“It really wasn’t a problem. Besides with you around me and John will have someone to learn a bit more about the world from. The two of us have been away for a long time and we don’t really know whats going on right now so any information will help us.”
“OK. Ask anything you want if I can answer I will.”
