The Elemental Lovers [Completed] - zzzChapter 23
I was at my apartment as I was looking around. I don’t know what to think. I showered and cleaned up good as I was trying to burn the memories of Dylan Windell has touched me.
But you know you like it right, my dark thoughts said as I was rubbing my face with my hands. I was groaning before I was looking at the window. What have I done?
Get a grip, Daisy.
He accused you of everything and you know he will never forgive and forget the fact that he believed your father was the reason that his father was being shunned and killed. I closed my eyes as I was exhaling my breaths.
Breathe in, breathe out.
I opened my eyes before I was looking at my phone. I have to make the decision and that decision will determine the future that I will be doing from now on. I picked up the phone before I was searching for Lucia’s number. Then I waited. It rang three times before Lucia answered.
“Hello?” She asked as I was clearing my throat.
“Lucia, it’s me, Daisy. I think I need that funding as soon as possible,” I said as I was looking at the city outside my window. I will miss this place, I do. And also my friends that have been getting their happy endings.
“Which one?” She asked as I was rolling my eyes at her. Sometimes, Lucia can be forgetful if she wanted to.
“The one that Chris Yang was leading the expedition. I think I need to get away from the city for a while,” I said as I was looking at my reflection.
Yeah, and away from someone.
Dylan Windell’s POV
I was happy beyond reason. I don’t think that last night will be the best time for me and Daisy. I hope that she will not have any regret today. I was tossing and turning in the bed as I was searching for the warmth that I have known last night.
But it was empty.
I opened my eyes before I closed it back as the sunlight was coming into my eyes harshly. I was shielding my eyes before I was looking beside me. It was empty. I sat up in bed as I was looking around the master bedroom.
Her sweet floral scent was still here but it was fading.
Then I looked at the floor for her trace of clothing. It was gone. I panicked before I felt something in my chest. Was it longing? I could not tell as I never felt like this before. I was breathing heavily before I was looking at the bed before I was in the shower and getting ready to go to someone that I know what to do.
My cousin, Cameron Hayes.
I ran out of the mansion while my hair was unkempt and I was looking at the butler that was arching his eyebrow at me. I ignored him before I was getting inside the car and drove off from here.
I drove through the traffic of New York City. It was at the weekend but the traffic was still the same. I sighed as I was listening to music. All of them were solemn music. I don’t know why but I think the universe was trying to tell me something. Half an hour later, I was in front of the house before I was being admitted by Cam’s butler. I told him that I wanted to meet my cousin before he instructed me to wait in the drawing-room.
I went inside the room before I was looking around. The room was neat but I was looking at the fireplace before I took my seat on the safe in front of it. I was fidgeting before Cam came inside the room.
“Hello coz. Fancy seeing you here. I thought you might leave me alone for 3 months?” Cam said as he took in front of the sofa that was opposite of me. I was still looking at the fireplace before I was snapped to reality.
“Dylan, hey!” Cam said as he snapped his fingers in front of me. I was relieved but I was still wary of the situation.
“What’s wrong?”
“Oh, Cam. I did something horrible,” I said as I was raking my fingers in my hair. I was sighing before Cam was furrowing his eyebrows at me.
“What do you mean?” He asked before I was pacing back and forth in front of the fireplace as I was rubbing my mouth.
“I did it, Cam. I did it. I broke the law,” I said before Cam stood up.
“What do you mean?” He asked as I was shaking my head. He stopped me as he gripped my arms and he was looking at me directly in the eyes.
“What did you do, Dylan?” He asked as I was breathing heavily before I was calming down.
“I thought I just wanted for a kiss but one thing leads to another and—”
“What? What did you do?” He said as I was looking at him. Cam was being impatient before I was gulping.
“I bedded Daisy and we were not married,” I said as I was waiting for his outburst. I saw it in his eyes when he was shouting his fury at me.
“You did what?!” He shouted at me as I was shaking my head before I was rubbing my face.
“You must never bed a woman unless she is your wife. If you do, your powers will be unstable and there will be nothing to stop it,” Cam said as I was looking at him.
“What should I do, Cam? I don’t know if I will be able to survive it if—”
“Don’t. I forbid you to say that here. We don’t it yet but I know for one thing that you can ask that woman now,” Cam said as he was looking at me. I don’t think Daisy would be happy if she was forced to marry someone like me, the person that accused her father of cheating.
“What?” I asked as my cousin was looking at me sternly.
“Marry her and make this right. When you married her and bed her again, the curse will not come to us and we can forget all of this ever happen,” he stated as a matter of fact. I sighed.
“But she hates me,” I said before Cam was scoffing at me.
“If she let you bedded her, you do know well that it was far from hate,” he said which made sense after all. Daisy would never let me close to her body if she was not interested in me.
Or was she just did it because of the alcohol?
“But we were under the presence of alcohol,” I said before Cam was arching his eyebrow at me. I sighed as I know there was no point in arguing with one Cameron Hayes.
“Okay, fine. I will do what I must,” Dylan said as I went to pat his shoulder.
“Now that’s the spirit. And talking about spirit,” he said as he was eyeing the decanter. I shook my head at him.
“No, no. I have to go. I have to make this right as soon as possible,” I said as I was moving out of the room to get to Daisy and maybe get this thing done.
“Good luck buddy. You need it,” Cam shouted as I was running through the corridor and I was breathing hard at the anticipation of finding her after what we shared last night.
Daisy Dyer’s POV
I was staring at Lucia which she was reading my progress report right now. She was so focused on it that I was sipping on my tea as I was fidgeting, anxious to know if I cut for the expedition.
“Well?” I asked her as I was fed up with the silence between us.
“Huh? Oh, sorry. I was too focused on this theory. I must say, Daisy, it was the best one that anyone could ever come up with,” she said as I was smiling at her. She sipped on her tea before she was nodding at me.
“Okay, I think you got the spot,” she said as I squirmed before she held out her hand.
“But I must remind you that this will be hard work and it will not be as easy when you were spending time in the lab. Are you sure you’re up for this?” she asked as I was nodding at her.
“Yes, and this will be the best time of my research of all time,” I said as I was looking at Lucia. She was calculating me before she nodded.
“If you say so. Now if you excuse me, I have some letter to write for your expedition spot,” Lucia said as she was getting to her computer and I was leaving the office with a new determination to get away from the city and one person that I don’t think I can face him anymore.
