The Elemental Lovers [Completed] - zzzChapter 27
I have been driving to the Midwest Research station that I was dreaded to meet Daisy. But my disappointment only grew and I think I might have set some of the storms in the area of the research center with my anger.
I sighed as I was looking at the sky. It was growing dark and I need to keep my calm until I found Daisy. But right now, I was not having it all.
“What do you mean I cannot be here? I have the letter and recommendation that suggested I will be here for the next 3 weeks,” I said as I was shoving the paper on the table. I was looking at the Supervisor, Chris Yang, as he was reading the letter before he put it down. He sighed.
“Look, Mr. Windell, I know that you have been driving for so long that you might not be in your right mind—”
I scoffed.
“—But we don’t have enough space. I don’t want to cramp one tent with another person that thinks he can trespass here and get treated like royalty,” Chris said as I was narrowing my eyes at him. I grabbed his collar as he was surprised by my action.
“Listen here, punk. I don’t care that you were in the position to have all the power in this station but I will tell you this once. So listen carefully,” I said as I was leveling my eyes to him. I hoped he can see my anger and fury that was building inside me and was ready to be unleashed.
“If you don’t admit me, there will be a hell to pay. I don’t think you know how a barometer works but right now, it was under pressure. This means the storm is coming and I will be the one that can control it,” I said as Chris blinked at me.
“No one can control the storm so I don’t think I see your point—”
“Oh, you will. Right now!” I said as I was running electricity inside my body before I felt Chris Yang jerked in my hands. His eyes were bulging and I was clenching my jaws at him.
“So, either way. Without me, you will be useless against the storm,” I said before I dropped him. He was stepping back from me as I was crossing my hands at him. He was feeling the collar of his shirt before I was smirking at him.
“Okay, I will,” Chris said as I was nodding at him. I was going out of his tent before he was instructing me to be under the white tent. It was where the paleoclimate team will be sitting and I will be closed to Daisy as much as I wanted. I smirked at the thought.
I was taking my equipment from my truck before I was going over to the table that Daisy was setting up her equipment.
I was putting my equipment on the table before Daisy was frowning as she was looking at my box.
“Excuse me but this table was taken,” she said as she turned to look at me before she gasped. I smirked as she thinks that she can get away from me that easily.
“What are you doing here?” Daisy hissed at me before I was leaning closer to her.
“I am here to do some research, Ms. Dyer. Why would you think otherwise?” I said before I was unboxing my equipment before she started to speak again.
“Hey, this is my table and—”
“Ah, I’m sorry to tell you, Daisy, but from today onward, you will be working with Mr. Windell here. He has some letters that backed him up to be here, even though I told him no because we don’t have enough space. But it seems that he knows you so I hope you don’t mind working with Mr. Dylan Windell here. He stated that you’re from the same university,” Chris said as Daisy was smiling at him. I rolled my eyes at her sweet nature.
“Sure, no problem,” she said before she was glaring at me after Chris left us.
“Seriously, I don’t believe that shit for one bit. So, why don’t you tell me the truth, Dylan?” She said as I was smirking at her. Then, I leaned closer and I whispered to her.
“We had shared a bed and I was your first lover. I think I wanted to keep that title to myself,”
“Is that what you’re doing here? You’re insane,” she said before I turned to look into her eyes. Her pupils dilated as I know she was not immune to me after all.
“Be careful, Daisy, or you might get caught in the storm where only I can save you,” I said as I know that my grey orbs were darkening for her right now.
Dark with desire. Then I straightened up and I was setting the equipment on our shared table.
“We should set up our equipment if we don’t want to be late for dinner,” I said as I was ignoring Daisy’s death glare that I was sure she was killing me in her mind. I chuckled. At least she will be thinking about me for a very long time.
After we finished, I wanted to talk with Daisy but she had run off with her colleague and left me behind. I scoffed as I was shaking my head at her. I think my future wife was never this difficult as I might imagine when I was younger.
But it was very refreshing and I know that I would not get bored with her every second of our married life later. I was walking to the tent that was designated as a makeshift cafeteria. I was lining up as we were taking some food before I was settling by myself as I was eating the food. Then I saw someone was standing in front of me. I turned to look at it was someone that I did not know.
“May I sit with you?” She asked as I was nodding at her. She smiled before she was putting her tray on the table. I thought she might be quiet but I think I was wrong.
Why do I attract too many people?”So, I never saw you around before. Are you new here?” She asked as I was looking at her. She chuckled before she was handing out her hands at me.
“Sorry, where are my manners? I’m Astrid. I am with the Biology department. I was told that there was a rare plant that lived and prospers in this area. So, here I was, trying to figure it out,” she said as she was holding out her hand. I shook it briefly.
“Dylan and I were with the Paleoclimate team,” I said as I did not explain any further. Astrid nodded as she was satisfied with the answer before she was asking me a random question.
“Is the brunette Daisy Dyer?” She asked me as I was looking at her. She was staring at Daisy who was laughing and talking with her colleagues. I smiled before I nodded.
“Yup, that’s her,”
“She’s pretty,” Astrid commented.
“She is,” I mumbled before Astrid gasped. I turned to look at her before her eyes were shining with something. Was that adoration that I was looking at?
“Wait, don’t tell me—”
“What?” I asked before she was squirming in her seat. I rolled my eyes at her before I was finishing my meal. I cannot think that I would be hearing it from her and I think I wanted to get out of this situation now.
“Wait, where are you going, Dylan? Please, wait for me,” Astrid asked as I was storming out of the makeshift cafeteria before she was following me like a lost puppy. Since when I have a lost puppy on my tail?
I don’t even know what to say.
Daisy Dyer’s POV
I was laughing as my friends were making some jokes about some scientific names. I was listening to them but my eyes were caught the table that was not far from us. I saw that Dylan was alone.
Not that I don’t want to be seen with him here but I know that it will invite scandal and I don’t want that. I heard that Ella has been in some scandal as well and now she’s married to that boss of hers.
At least she stated that she was happy with her life now.
I sighed as I was looking at the food before someone stated something that caught my interest now.
“Look, the new guy got Astrid to get to him now. I wonder how he reacts to her right now,”
“Not that I was complaining but Astrid was a beautiful woman but she was hard to approach. I think I might blame the Viking blood in her,”
“Yeah, I heard that she was from Norway. I wonder what she was talking about with that new guy,”
I was looking at the interaction between Dylan and Astrid. They shook hand and I felt like I was snapping something in my hand.
“Uh, Daisy? Are you okay?” Someone asked me before I was looking at them. They were looking at my hand as I was snapping the wooden spoon into half in my hand. I did not know that I had such strength in me.
But the thought of Dylan caressing someone else other than me…
“But we have 3 weeks,” someone said before I laughed.
“It would not hurt for me to be finished early, right?” I said before I was out of the tent and made my way to the tent.
