The Elemental Lovers [Completed] - zzzChapter 28
I was looking at the sample as I was making my way into the cave that has been identified for us to do some research. No public access to this area as I was scrapping my rock hammer into the rock.
I was looking at the rock sample that was in my hand as I was examining it. I was wearing the gear that allowed me to be in the dark cave. I was alone but I know that my team was alerted that I was in the cave as I was doing my research alone.
I was putting the sample into the pouch that I carried with me when I was looking for something else as well. I don’t think the sample was the ancient meteorite that was the reason for the Old Ocean to form. But it would not hurt to get it as much as I wanted.
I was looking at the watch as it was 10 PM. I have been here for 3 hours. I need to get out and maybe get some sleep. I was exhausted!
I was making my way to the entrance of the cave before I was looking at the sky. It was darkening and I don’t think I ever have seen anything that intense before. In this desert area, not much of a thunderstorm might be happening but right now, it was possible.
“Huh, that’s weird,” I said as I was gripping my cap. I was looking at the night sky before I was making my way to the tent. I did not notice that a storm was coming and until I did, I was too late.
Dylan Windell’s POV
I was looking at the scientific journal after the dinner that I had the misfortune of knowing one Astrid Olsen. I think she was from the Europe continent as she spoke with British slang. Maybe she was transferred here to do her research.
“What are you doing?” Someone asked me as I was jerking from my chair. I turned to look who was it before I frowned. It was none other Astrid Olsen.
“Don’t you have anything else to do?” I asked her before she was looking at me. She smirked as I don’t know what she was smirking about.
“So, I guess you did not hear the news then, considering that you were so calm right now. And here I thought that you have slept with one Daisy Dyer,” she said before I snapped at her. Her smirk widened.
“So you are sleeping with her? Good, God! You’re a wild man, Windell,”
“Enough! What do you say about Daisy?” I asked her before she was snapping her fingers at me.
“Right! I heard that she was missing. She went to the cave to get the sample 3 hours ago but there was a storm on the research site and we have done everything that we can to help her—” I did not listen to the rest of her story as I was storming out of my tent.
I was looking at the night sky as I saw the swirling pool of the storm. It was near the cave opening and my heart dropped to the ground.
“What was it? Why are you so upset?” Astrid asked before I was scowling at her. I did not reply to her but I was making my way to the cave. I did not care who knows about us anymore but I know that I cannot let Daisy die. Not on my watch.
Daisy Dyer’s POV
What the hell was I thinking? Coming into this cave alone and right now, I was trapped in it. Damn it! I don’t even prepare to be trapped here for most of my night right now. I was looking around to get out of the cave but I will be in grave danger then. I saw the swirling pool of the storm and I gulped
God! Can someone help me out? Please, if there was one, I will be willing to do anything that my savior asked me to do.
I was biting my lower lips before I was trying to think of many ways that I cannot do if I was stuck here. I sighed before thunder was striking near me. I shrieked. I was shaking as I was getting inside the cave even more before I was holding my beating heart. Then I got on my knees and I was praying to God.
“Dear God, if you’re listening, I just wanted to be safe and sound in my home and if there was someone, anyone that saves me from this disaster, I will do anything that they ask without any question. Amen,” I said as I kissed my hands before I was crossing myself. I was closing my eyes as I was imagining that anyone, someone, out there cares enough about me to save me right now.
Dylan Windell’s POV
“What are you guys doing here? You need to get back into the tents. It was not safe to be out in the open right now,” I said as I was looking at Chris Yang that was soaked to the bones right now. I had been running toward the cave before I saw Chris and some of the researchers were looking at the swirling storm.
“Please, get inside for your safety,” I said as I was looking at them. The others were staring at me before they glanced at the storm and started to disperse.
Good choice.
I was looking at Chris Yang before he was looking at me as if I was going crazy. I was gripping his soaked shoulders before I was nodding at him.
“Don’t worry. I will bring Daisy back. I swear,” I said as Chris Yang was gripping my hands.
“What will I do without you?” He asked before I patted him. I know this will be coming and I was looking at him.
“You will out of a job because you cannot save one that was responsible under your supervision,” I said as I was walking toward the storm.
“As I was. But right now, I don’t think you will do anything to save anyone except yourself,” I said before he was gasping. I know that I was hitting the right nerve but I have another issue to be thinking about.
I made my way to the cave as the storm was coming at me. I can feel its fury as I was holding out my hands at it. It was coming at me and when I know it, I was inside the eye of the storm.
I was flying when I was looking at the wind that was throwing me up and up into the atmosphere. I was gritting my teeth before I was flying through the storm. I was trying to focus on how to get on the other side, to the front entrance of the cave. I was swirling around with the storm before I was closing my eyes and I can sense that storm was now for me to command.
I was looking through my eyes as I felt my eyes were burning. It was on infrared mood now. I was looking at the cave before I was swirling toward it. Then I heard the storm was speaking to me.
‘You do not follow the rules,’
‘Why should we follow your command then?’ The storm was asking me as I heard their voices in my head. I sighed as I know this was the warning that my grandpa was asking me to protect.
‘I know that you think I am unworthy to be controlling this element. But right now, my intended bride was in that cave and I have to save her,’
‘But you slept without marriage in hand. You should be dead right now, by us for ignoring the sacred rule of the Elementals,’ it stated before I was shaking my head. I felt the tears were coming through my eyes before I was speaking the truth from my heart.
‘I have disappointed her. I cannot be a good husband to her because I believed in the propaganda and the wrong information. I have done the unforgivable as I was under the influence of alcohol. So please, just give me a chance to redeem it,’ I said as I was pleading with the storm to control its rage. I can sense that their fury was at me and I was to be blamed for Daisy’s death if I was too late.
No!
I refused for them to take the only good thing that ever happened to me. Ever since my parents’ death and I have known the truth of my father, I will not let the Element to take Daisy as a sacrifice.
‘Then, you must sacrifice yourself for her,’ the storm said as I was nodding.
‘Yes, I am willing but let me tell her the truth first,’ I said as I was asking for one chance with Daisy before I felt the fury was nodding at me.
‘Very well,’ it stated before I was being swirled toward the entrance of the storm and my head was hitting the ground, making me unconscious the moment storm drew back from the earth.
But what I don’t know was that this might be the last time I might be alive with my love in my arms.
