The Elusive Book Keeper - Chapter 23
His suitcase is already packed and in the inventory. His eyes moved to the house before him. The mansion still stood magnificent as it had when arrived here six weeks ago, however, he had the feeling that he did not remain the same.
In this place, he had felt warmth and happiness like never before. This was home. His smile at the rows of people waiting for him to leave turned even more genuine.
His admission into…had gone smoothly and the school’s session had begun. He waved at the butlers and maids, “Thanks for everything. I will see you guys later.” He was especially grateful for the dozens of Intel points they had provided him..
His eyes turned to the slightly shorter male and the much shorter female in front of him.
“Ivana! You are looking more beautiful every day. I am really glad you came to see me off?”
Ivana rolled her eyes, “Of course. Please take your time in school. Don’t be in a hurry to come back.”
Zane chuckled, “En. I will miss you too.”
Ivana’s eyes lit up with a familiar fire as she intended to retort back but seeing Xavier’s movement, she paused obediently.
Zane bit back a laugh, She really behaved like a little wife. Sometimes Zane felt that her enthusiasm and affection was wasted on this block of wood.
Said block of wood did not care about what was running through their heads. He did not like speaking too much so he struggled for a while on how to put his feelings into words. Finally choosing his words, Xavier stepped closer to his brother, almost whispering in his ears, “Do not forget. Your name is Zane Valois and I, Xavier Akio Valois, am your brother.”
This brat, I am the older brother. I am the one meant to be saying cool stuff. Besides, how could he forget his own name?
Zane’s eyes softened. All those lonely birthdays and New Years seemed far away. Just like floating snow, they vanished into thin air. He wasn’t even in the mood to throw a witty comment. He just nodded, “En. Then, I will be off.”
Normally Intel points are the rewards of normal missions. Missions concerning the special potential level, S, SS and SSS had mystery boxes as their special rewards. Anything and Everything could be fished out from the mystery box. His system had told him of someone who got a million Intel points from a Silver mystery box as well as another who got a time turner from a Bronze mystery box.
As if it was that easy. The rewards were generous because the missions were hard to complete. The mindset of the Gnosis society can be seen in the time frame given to complete the mission. Two years. In two years, he should at least achieve the position of a confidant to his younger brother.
Zane sighed as he leaned back on the chair. It will not be easy but it will be completely worth it. He opened the operation platform and viewed his status
{Name: Zane Black Valois
Potential: A
Authority: Disciple
Class: Arcane Scribe
Fraternity: None
Knowledge points: 91, 420
Zane knew he could never get tired of looking at his Intel points. In just a month. Not to mention, he had been very busy this month, he had gained almost five hundred Intel points.
He could suddenly understand why ancient people said that the tidbits that fell from the table of the emperor were enough for a common man to leave a luxurious
Intel points were divided into three, Trivial, important and key. A trivial intel about someone with F grade potential was 1point while a trivial Intel about someone with an SSS grade potential was 20 points. The difference even got larger, a key Intel about an F rank was 20 points while a key Intel about an SSS rank was 200 points.
He had found out some information about his younger brother during this last month. Xavier took a three-hour nap every day without fail. He slept from 12:30 pm to 3:30 p.m. Zane did not know the reason why though and all his probing had no use. According to the servants, Xavier had taken siestas like that since he was little.
He loved to drink tea and has always preferred the slightly bitter ones. He ate a very light breakfast every morning, mostly porridge. However, he ate a very heavy lunch, mostly in his room.
The last information he had gotten had given him a ton of points, Xavier’s butler was afraid of him.
“Young Master Zane, we are here.” Lexi called out before stepping out to open the door. Zane smiled. It was first the request from his other self then the mission from Gnosis that got him interested in his brother but he had to admit, the more time he spent with his brother, the more intrigued he became. Well, he can think about that later, after all, he had a lot of time to slowly unravel all of his brother’s secrets.
Zane put a warm, sunny smile on his face as he came from the car. This was Amherst College, the no 1 university in the Alliance.
“Young master, I will go and finish the accommodation process.” Lexi said. She had a worried look on her face.
However, that does not mean that the wealthy ruled the school, it was quite the opposite. The wealthy were subject to the same rules and even more than others.
The first rule was that all kinds of servants and guards were not allowed to leave the residential area. The school would be responsible for the security of the students.
The second rule was that all rides would stop in front of the school gate, and all students were required to move to the registration building by themselves within two hours. Of course, if you did not finish before the designated time, you would not be expelled or punished. Some school personnel would just carry back to the school gate to try again.
This was not a problem. It was just that if you compare the Captain city of the Alliance, Beva to a large country before the Earth went online, the Amherst College would be a large city within the country.
“Alright, I will see you later.”
“Yes, young master.” She bowed and left.
Suddenly the environment around him turned a little dark, and Zane looked up. A tall, beautiful girl with dark curls was floating right above him. Seeing him look up at her, she snorted, threw him a look before she flew away, her speed was very fast.
Contempt. Zane could not remember the last time he had that look focused on him. When he was younger, he would be incensed and rush off to compete with the lady but it was not so now.
Zane looked around him. The registration just started today and will continue for 6 months but there are already a lot of people here. Most of them were people who awakened at the later part of last year and could not register.
Agility experts were already leaping through the cars to get to the roofs of the buildings. There was a loud roar and a cheetah ran past him, a student on its back.
Zane could hear a student mȯȧning to his servants not so far from him, “I am a mage. This is so unfair.”
Yes, it was unfair. But that was the first lesson Amherst College wanted to teach these newly awakened children who believed they could dance on the moon that the world is not fair.
Zane pressed his wristwatch and it vibrated. A series of numbers came on the screen.
Hp: 110/110
Mp: 330/330
This wristwatch only cost 2 Intel points. He was in the best state he could be. He brought out a little bottle and opened it, emptying its contents into his mouth. This was a low-level speed potion.
This running to the registration building was not common information but it was not rare either. With a little research, one can easily find it. “To be prepared is half the victory.” This was the second lesson that Amherst College wanted to teach its students.
