The Elysium Across Deep Space - Chapter 478: Chaos of Mythology
“It’s so tiring!” said Wang Xuan as he gasped for breath. His face turned pale and his chest was heaving heavily. He looked utterly exhausted as his body swayed.
There was silence all around, as yet another mighty god perished. It was Yuan Lei. She was a renowned goddess rumored to be the offspring between an immortal bird and a formidable human. Her current level wasn’t low at all. Following the consecutive tremors, some had dropped two levels but she managed to withstand it once and had only dropped once. She was still at the second level of the Wanderer, surpassing Lei Tuo by a margin! Yet, this mighty god still perished despite her immense power! No one could utter a word.
Was he really a failure? Was this a special god-slaying event for him?
Many people felt dizzy from the shock. The disciples of gods, followers of immortals, beings from the Great Barrier, all trembled in fear.
Not to mention others, even the Grand Alchemist Xu Fu couldn’t help but smirk while he felt inexplicably strange. This young man had left him speechless. He appeared frail but managed to slay two gods in a row! Wang Xuan wasn’t entirely faking it. He was indeed catching his breath, he really felt exhausted.
After all, this was god slaying, especially when life and death was decided in a single move. He was powerful, but not to the extent of instantly killing a powerful god in one move. As he had said earlier, he didn’t want to engage in a prolonged battle. All his means were condensed into a single breath, using his trump card to determine life and death.
It would have taken some time if Yuan Lei had insisted on testing him in a normal duel, it couldn’t have had such an immediate effect. Of course, although he was panting heavily, it wasn’t as severe as one imagined. He wasn’t drained to the point where he couldn’t even move.
Exhaling heavily, Wang Xuan said, “As I said earlier, I was severely injured in the heavenly tribulation and my body had issues because of it. But the Dao Sword Light that I’ve cultivated for many years was successfully baptized by the tribulation thus enhancing it and tempering the true meaning of the sword. So, her death wasn’t unjust.”
Someone stared at him and felt like saying, “Stop explaining. You’ve killed three gods from the beginning till now. You’re no saint.”
Wang Xuan’s body swayed, it looked like he was about to collapse. Of course, he had to maintain his act professionally. He covered his mouth as he did not want to actually vomit blood.
However, pretending to cough and then swallowing the blood was the only way to trick them. At the same time, a strong individual who had been glaring at him with resentment was restrained and brought over with just a single gesture from him. It should be someone from the Great Barrier, with the strength of the ninth level. He wasn’t kind to her. With a slap, he knocked the person over and restrained her. He made her bend down and then sat on her back, using her as a stool without any courtesy.
“I’m tired to the point of not wanting to move,” he said, then began to quietly adjust his breath.
His actions weren’t well received by the beings from the Great Barrier. However, no one had complained and just stared in silence, mainly because they were all awed by his previous battle.
Who could not be wary?
Even the gray-haired man who confronted Xu Fu, the god of the Daoist Shielding Palace, felt uneasy and was extremely angry. Although he really wanted to kill him immediately, he did not make a move for the time being. After a long silence, people couldn’t help but gradually become restless. A buzzing discussion followed, especially in the outer space, where all sides couldn’t hold back.
“Is this real? It feels a bit surreal. Someone who failed the tribulation has killed two powerful gods in a row?” In those ships, many people were astonished. They felt surprised and bewildered. However, reality was just that unexpectedly unpredictable. That young man had slain a god once again.
Naturally, Qing Mu, Wu Yin, and others were the most excited and thrilled among them. Before this, they had prepared for the worst and were worried that Wang Xuan would die at the hands of a foreign god.
“As expected, brother Wang is the best! He still wants to kill undyings and gods on the battlefield even though he was just struck by heaven and had serious bodily issues. His name is renowned far and wide!” exclaimed Transcendent Ma. He was very excited.
“Wang Xuan has come so far on the path of cultivation……” said Zhao Qinghan. Even the rational Zhao Qinghan was absent-minded. It was the first time she felt just how strong Wang Xuan’s talent was in this field.
He was a modern man, his cultivation journey started not too long ago. To reach this point, there would inevitably be legends about him in the most prosperous period of ancient times.
“If Wang Xuan had been born five hundred years earlier, he might have pioneered a new myth!” thought Qing Mu in his heart. He was thoroughly shocked this time.
“This guy sometimes calls himself the Patriarch Wang, and it’s really not just some empty words.” Wu Yin breathed a sigh of relief. She recalled his past performances and gradually showed a smile.
In the decaying barrier, Wang Xuan sat there like a king, panting and resting. He looked terrible, but no one dared to act recklessly.
“I can’t stand it anymore!” A gray-haired mighty being from the Daoist Shielding Palace spoke while looking at Wang Xuan. Both the deceased Yuan Lei and Lei Tuo were his allies with good relations in the Great Barrier. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have come here together.
Wang Xuan spoke, “I can’t go on, senior, I’ll leave this person to you. Isn’t there the Book of Ages and a semi-mature treasure among the six grand palaces? Let’s have one for each of us. I’m heavily injured and can’t kill anymore. It’s up to you to handle him!”
He felt that he had enough of this. He wanted to use his strength on the Evil Dragon. He didn’t know where this person was now, as the Evil Dragon always lurked in the shadows. He was a big trouble for Wang Xuan. He wanted to hide temporarily, but was stopped by Lei Tuo and Yuan Lei while he was in the process of hiding. Of course, he wasn’t afraid and had decisively killed the two of them.
“Alright, leave the rest to me!” Xu Fu spoke. Holding a golden fishing rod in his hand, he started advancing towards the opposite side.
“Xu Fu, you don’t need to muddy the waters. You can stay out of it completely!” Another person spoke. An undying from the Mortal Palace walked over. She was a woman with long silver hair and a cold demeanor. It was as if she came from an icy world. In fact, there was indeed heavy snowfall wherever she walked.
“Both of you, come at me together!” Xu Fu spoke, blocking both the gray-haired man and the woman shrouded in ice and snow. He intended to confront the two alone.
The gray-haired man said, “Sure, Xu Fu. Since you’ve made your choice, don’t blame us for not following the rules. Let’s decide who lives or dies!”
“Attack!” shouted the woman that was covered in ice and snow. She was very domineering, and had directly made a move with her silver hair fluttering.
Xu Fu said, “So you two have already formed an alliance and have set your eyes on the highest reward here. Unfortunately, a young man from the mortal realm doesn’t follow the rules. He suddenly made a move and disrupted your plans by killing gods.” They would probably have killed Xu Fu first if Wang Xuan hadn’t come. Then, those people would have gone to duel and divide the prizes. This made the Daoist’s face darken. So, he erupted and gave it his all. He directly engaged in battle with the two.
Wang Xuan watched from the side and was enjoying the moment. Finally, he had freed himself from the trouble and was able to quietly observe others’ battles. It was a rare moment of leisure and relaxation for him.
Many people noticed that he probably had serious issues and couldn’t participate anymore, otherwise he wouldn’t have let Xu Fu face the two alone. However, none of the people from the six grand palaces were eager to act recklessly. They weren’t powerful enough, and there was no need to take risks. The lesson from the past was very miserable.
Only Chen Yongjie knew that not a single hair of his was harmed in the mock fight. He was just acting it out as he intended to remove himself and become an outsider. So, Old Chen went over and pretended to care about his health. He cooperated in the pretense, then he became a free man and directly went to find his master.
In fact, that person had noticed Chen Yongjie a long time ago. When Liu Huai’an left the Old World, Old Chen looked like a young man in his twenties that was full of spirit. Thirty years had passed, and a person that looked exactly like his disciple Chen Yongjie appeared on this battlefield. Of course he would be suspicious the first time he saw Old Chen.
“Are you……Master Liu?” asked Old Chen. The closer Chen Yongjie got, the more certain he became. This should be the younger version of his master, even the mole on his neck was the same.
“Yongjie?!” exclaimed Liu Huai’an with widened eyes. He had confirmed that this was indeed his disciple who had unexpectedly followed in his footsteps to this place.
“Master!” cried Chen Yongjie. He burst into tears on the spot and cried out loud. His master was the first to throw him out of the light veil when he was in danger back then. He then blocked in front of him and evaporated from the world.
This became a knot in Old Chen’s heart. He always felt that his master had exchanged his life for his new life. Otherwise, he would have disappeared from the Old World like those Old Art masters. It was a disaster his master could have avoided, but he took it for him anyway. For thirty years, Chen Yongjie’s heartache had persisted. His heart was filled with self-blame and unrest, he was always yearning to find his master.
“Child, I have never expected that you would eventually come to this place just like me.” said Liu Huai’an as his eyes also reddened. He helped him up, not letting him kneel.
“Your disciple has always wanted Master to appear, but all methods were exhausted until a fortunate coincidence brought me here,” said Chen Yongjie while shedding tears. He then asked about the others. Many skilled individuals had disappeared back then which caused a gap in the Old Arts domain.
“They’re all dead. I was the only one that survived.” Liu Huai’an sighed with a melancholy tone. The events of thirty years ago seemed like it was just yesterday. At that time, they were all too weak. They were like targets for practice on the battlefield. He had the deepest foundation among them and managed to rise up by utilizing the rich trans material in the area. With that, he barely carved out a path for survival.
In outer space, Qing Mu stared at the large screen and locked onto his master’s location. He could hardly believe his eyes. Chen Yongjie was crying and kneeling down before another person.
“Is that……my master?!” exclaimed Qing Mu. He was shocked. That slightly younger man resembled the picture of a white-haired old man hanging in his master’s room.
“I really found him? My master is still alive and actually came to this battlefield!” cried Old Chen.
……
The battle was fierce. Xu Fu had single-handedly fought against two mighty gods. He became more ferocious as the battle prolonged. He took the initiative and was attacking aggressively. His fishing rod traversed the void, causing explosions in the sky with thunderous roars. It was even more terrifying than the Dao Sword. Of course, their battle didn’t end immediately with one move. It wasn’t worth the risk. They all made sure to secure themselves first.
“Hmm?” Wang Xuan noticed something unusual. With his Spiritual Eyes that merged with his twelfth stage foundation, he sensed a malevolent intent targeting this place.
He remained calm and quickly noticed an undying that slowly drew a large bow, aiming at this place. The undying was originally targeting him, but he hesitated slightly, then adjusted the aim towards Xu Fu. Clearly, that person was using secret techniques and had a supreme treasure to conceal his murderous intent. He was trying to deceive the strong perception of the gods and was preparing to secretly kill either him or Xu Fu.
“Is there a seventh mighty figure outside the six grand palaces?” Wang Xuan immediately conveyed his question through telepathy, informing Xu Fu that someone was hunting him.
“Don’t worry about it. This old man doesn’t even see who he’s aiming at, I’ll kill him for sure. He’s dreaming for trying to kill me when I’m a master in both Alchemy and Daoist techniques!” exclaimed Xu Fu as his killing intent intensified.
“Senior, come closer to my side. I’ll help you if it’s necessary!” said Wang Xuan.
“You failed your tribulation, is your body alright?” replied Xu Fu with surprise. He then strangely sensed that he might have taken the fall for him again, standing in front of him preemptively. Xu Fu remained silent, engaging in a fierce battle and swiftly changing positions.
A dazzling beam of light suddenly illuminated the sky, and Wang Xuan had once again used his strongest attack. He mobilized all his Dao skills and slashed out a sword light imbued with Heavenly Tribulation Song and light of the gods, hitting the gray-haired god who had moved closer. The powerful gray-haired god sensed the danger at a critical moment and tried to dodge to the side.
However, although his divine sense was strong, his physical movement was not fast enough to avoid it. With a puff, the gray-haired god from the Dao Shielding Palace was cut in half. With only half of his body remaining, he let out a roar of anger on the blood covered the ground.
Almost at the same time, a brilliant arrow flew from afar and aimed directly at Xu Fu’s back. It intended to harm both his flesh and spirit at the same time.
The Daoist successfully evaded it with just a slight movement. The violent energy carried by the arrow scattered his hair which made him furious. His killing intent surged as he quickly engaged in a deadly battle with the silver-haired woman that was surrounded by ice and snow. He was prepared to kill her first before dealing with the one who shot the treacherous arrow. Everything changed too quickly, it was beyond people’s perception. Only by replaying the footage captured by the spaceship could they truly understand what had happened.
Puff!
Wang Xuan didn’t hold back at all. He immediately followed up with another attack. Wielding the golden divine knife left by Lei Tuo, he slashed the remaining half of the gray-haired god’s body and annihilated his spirit!
“Oh my god!! Another god was slaughtered?!” The creatures from the Great Barrier were trembling with fear on the battlefield. This sickly failure was relentlessly slaughtering gods, as if he was specializing in god-killing!
In outer space, the people from various camps on the spaceship were dumbfounded. This wasn’t just a Limit Breaker Slayer, this was a God Slayer that repeatedly slain gods and undyings.
“I can’t go on anymore. Organizers, my performance has been decent enough. Shouldn’t you send me my prize and withdraw by now? I need to go and recuperate!” shouted Wang Xuan as he felt that it was really time to go. He wanted to be a spectator now, to stay out of the fray.
Splutter!
Not far away, Xu Fu, who was in a frenzied state, killed the silver-haired woman standing on the ice and snow. Her spirit had been extinguished. Without pausing, he transformed into a beam of light to pursue and kill the top god who had shot him with a bent bow. He then traversed the vast sky while holding the golden fishing rod.
Wang Xuan had repeatedly requested the organizers to send him back to recuperate, but no one responded. It seemed they tacitly agreed that the battle hadn’t completely ended yet. Next, he sat on a makeshift seat made of flesh as he indeed had plenty of leisure time.
First, he watched as Xu Fu hunted down gods, then he gazed at the radiant Great Barrier. Everything was transparent there because of the old treasures rumbling and the new ones hatching which casted clear shadows of the figures there.
“It’s done, the new treasure is born!” exclaimed Fang Yuzhu. The bracelet became even more dazzling, with billions of rays of light beginning to converge. The main body of the bracelet was like the depths of the universe, while the crystal white spots resembled countless stars.
“The Celestial Mirror was broken long ago. I shall name it the Celestial Bracelet!” The peerless transcendent Fang Yuzhu spoke. She and the others had endured many attacks while the new treasure was being refined. Even her lips were stained with crimson blood. But now, everything would change as the new treasure was about to be completed.
Furthermore, Wang Xuan also saw two shadows that were probably related to his parents. Holding this Old Covenant Bearer from the old mythical era, he confronted the Divine Palace, and there seemed to be an Immortal Umbrella in the distance.
“At the beginning of the great chaos, at the end of the mythological era, is everything about to come to a close, or is it the beginning of a change?” pondered Wang Xuan. As an outsider, Wang Xuan’s expression was extremely serious as he stared at the magnificent Great Barrier, where everything was changing in an instant.
