The Employed Empress - 154 Chapter 154
Once again, silent brewed between the two. With one on the brink crying and the other looking perplexed at the moment, all servants felt they are standing on thin ice.
Finally, Jiang Chen said, “What kind of deal?” sounding so shameless.
Although very much affected by the concubine’s word, the young prince still learned a thing or two after being surrounded by two questionable adults.
‘If others can do it, let them. If they are willing to do it, leave all the work to them. If they are not, make them willing to work for you!’
Xiao Wang Xi could only lament at the empress parenting skills.
“For a moment there… You appeared to be extremely shady…” Feng Lei hesitated. Somehow, she can already see the incoming downfall.
Jiang Chen flashed a smirk, then, brawled out his eyes. The loud crying alerted the incoming Xiao Yuan Xi into running.
Feng Lei gaped in shock. “Wait! Wait! Don’t cry! Let’s talk about it! I assure you, the deal I’m offering is very beneficial to you!”
Hearing her getting to the point and stopping her rude remarks, Jiang Chen peeked between his fingers and asked, “Say it faster. If this prince is not satisfied, this prince’s auntie will handle you!”
A child will always copy the adults around them. This trick was used by both Jiang Liu and Wei Yi Yi against each other countless times.
‘I’ll tell you on Boss/Royal Brother!’
The two would shout at each other.
Later, Jiang Chen would hear them shouting, ‘Save me from Boss/Royal Brother!’
Feng Lei was not wrong when she said, “The more I look, the more you resemble the Empress.”
Although the concubine has no idea what’s the empress is always up to, her instincts tell her that this small kid in front of her gives the same vibe as the Empress.
“Of course! This prince is the sole nephew of Imperial Aunt! If I don’t resemble her, who would?” Jiang Chen said proudly.
Feng Lei rolled her eyes and almost blurt out, ‘her future son,’ if Shen Ying didn’t give her a nudge.
Just as she was about to continue quarreling with the child, Xiao Yuan Xi was already close enough for them to hear when he ask, “What’s happening here?”
Without wasting a moment, Feng Lei kneeled to match Jiang Chen height. Whispering into his ears, she said, “Get me out of this situation you created and do me one favor. In exchange, my Feng family will support you as a prince.”
What answered Feng Lei is a look of distrust.
“Our Feng family is very loyal to our words and only says the truth,” Feng Lei said seriously, precisely, and hastily. “The favor I’m going to ask is simple and wouldn’t endanger you.”
“What kind of thing would require a concubine to ask a decorative prince and not someone else?”
“This—”
“Lady Feng! What is the meaning of this?!” Xiao Yuan Xi hissed with much anger after seeing the two so close.
When Jiang Chen turned to look up at him with reddened eyes, Xiao Yuan Xi heard a grave being dig at the back of his head.
Whether it is his grave or Feng Lei’s, that’s one he’ll know once the empress returned.
‘Young ancestor! Please stop going out to be bullied! We’re the ones eating the lost in the end!’

Throughout the whole morning, Wei Yi Yi stood at the shallow part of the stream. Using the improvised spear she made, Wei Yi Yi waited upon her preys.
Jiang Liu’s eyes shine brightly before running off with the fishes. Wei Yi Yi followed him with her gaze until he disappeared out of sight then she walked out of the water.
“What is he up to?” she asked. Wei Yi Yi neated her clothes.
“Should this servant follow after the prince?” Tang Mei inquired.
“No need. The twins are already tailing him behind.”
Wei Yi Yi shrugged her shoulder then proceed to cook the remaining fishes.
Once he returns, they’ll go back to the villa. Hopefully, he didn’t run off that far.
Jiang Liu indeed didn’t run that far away. Going to the rockier side of the streambank, Jiang Liu search for a puddle of water or any isolated part of the stream that the current doesn’t affect.
He found a small gap created by large rocks and was finally satisfied. Jiang Liu, to the wonders of the twin, put a fish at that gap.
The almost dead fist seems to be injected with white powder upon returning to the water. It swam around the small hole but couldn’t go anywhere else as the large rocks hindered its way.
Praising himself with a nod, Jiang Liu hide a few steps away then diligently camped the place.
Still, the twins have no idea what runs on the head of their master. Regardless, they copied him and hide themselves away.
Unmoving, the trio stayed like that.
Just before they take root at the place, Jiang Liu went “Aaaaawwww~~” as if in ecstasy.
The twins immediately snapped their head towards Jiang Liu’s line of sight.
An animal with thick and dense furs is trying to catch the trapped fish. While it does resemble a large rat, which is very alarming, its hair is of a dirty brown with grays and the fur seemingly has a pattern.
Seeing the small canines on the animal as it holds the fish on its mouth, the twin for sure knows it bites!
If Wei Yi Yi saw it, she would tell them that it would indeed bite them till they bleed for that is a wild raccoon dog!
But Jiang Liu only went “so cute!” which could be further translated into “kyaa! Kyaa!” by Wei Yi Yi.
The raccoon dog, after catching its food, treads back to a safe distance away from the water. Jiang Liu discretely followed after it.
“Your Highness…” The twin whispered and Jiang Liu indicated for them to kept quiet.
Jiang Liu went nearer until the raccoon dog and him lock their gazes. The animal was alarmed and with its guards up and alerted, slowly retreated back.
“It’s alright,” Jiang Liu said with one of his hand outstretched.
“Wangye…” Bai Huo gasped. In the shadow of the thick bushes, a pair of eyes blinked.
Another set of eyes blink on their direction and Bai Shui urges, “Wangye, Run!”
Jiang Liu with his eyes focus on the raccoon dog, unwillingly swept his gaze upward.
In everyone’s utter horror, the moment they stared at the darkness of the shadows…
A pair of eyes glisters with clear light as it blinks towards them…
Two pairs of eyes…
Then three…
Followed by another…
And finally, a dozen or so pairs of glowing eyes stare straight to their terrified souls.
“Run! Run! Run!!!!”
Bai Huo shouted as Bai Shui grabbed their master. It was just in time before the scary monster lunged out to take a bit out of Jiang Liu’s outstretched hand.
Out of the bushes, several foxes with red furs pounded on the pitiful raccoon dog that was being targeted as prey all this time; both by Jiang Liu and the foxes.
Two of them circled and trapped the raccoon dog. It was decided that he is lunch for today. As for the unknown humans who trespassed their territory, the rest of the foxes chased after them!
To see a dozen of glowing eyes in the middle of the day is straight out goosebumps! The forest rule of survival is just so scary!!
