The place they were going to was remote and isolated. On the way there, Harry couldn’t help but complain, “Does Charlie plan to spend his afterlife here? It’s so freaking creepy!”
Yazid rolled his eyes at him. “Did you really say afterlife? I feel sorry for whoever taught you that. You’re abusing the word!”
Glancing at the surroundings, Yazid continued, “But now that you mention it, this place does seem pretty creepy… But well, what can we do? There can’t be a better place than this to kill someone and get rid of the body without getting noticed.”
Harry glared at Yazid violently upon hearing this. “Say such nonsensical stuff again and I’ll smack you dead!”
Unafraid of his threats, Yazid turned to Harry, puffing his chest. “Oh yeah? Go ahead. You think you can scare me with your shallow threats? Bring it on!”
“Can the two of you stop arguing for a second?” Victor interrupted, annoyed by their useless banter. The noise of their arguments felt like hammers to his skull, giving him such a headache. He simply couldn’t take it anymore.
Both Harry and Yazid groaned, glaring at each other with contempt. After a few seconds of staring at each other in a deathly manner, both looked away, determined to ignore each other for the rest of the trip.
“Miss An, where are you going?” asked the man as he saw Winnie step out of the room.
Winnie looked at him with a calm expression, and responded in a cold voice, “Don’t you know Charlie wants me to be his girl? So, tell me, is this the way you treat your boss’s girl?”
The man hesitated. He realized Winnie was right, at least Charlie had just hooked up with her.
If she decided to be with Charlie, she could reproach this man right in front of him for his rude behavior, the consequences of which could be dire.
“I’m sorry, Miss An. I believe you misunderstood me. What I meant to imply was since you aren’t fam
“Do you still want to run away after what happened last night?”
Their relationship changes overnight. She tries to keep her distance from him, while he comes closer and closer.
Spoiling her, he gives her everything she desires. His only wish is to keep her around. The whole world is envious of what she has.
“Never rush in a relationship,” she says calmly.
respond.
Winnie whispered his name again, hoping he would respond this time.
Rufus frowned, finally coming to his senses. “What happened? Why are you here?”
The light from the doorway fell on Rufus’s one arm, wrenching Winnie’s heart. Several wounds were etched into his skin, some half-scabbed, some still bleeding. “Do the wounds hurt? Let me take a look,” she said, reaching for his arm.
Rufus jerked his arm away from her touch. He stared at the floor, refusing to meet her eyes. “It isn’t a big deal. You still haven’t told me how you managed to come here…”
Winnie hesitated for a second, then spoke softly, “It’s Charlie. He said he would release you if I agree to be his lover.”
Rufus raised his eyebrows in shock. His vision was still blurry, even though he struggled to get a better look at Winnie.
“What?” he asked, frowning with displeasure. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Winnie could feel the self-control she was maintaining slowly dripped away from her. At last, she couldn’t help but confess the truth, “Rufus…the truth is, I have been in love with you for a very long time.”
Rufus fell silent. For once, he even thought he was just imagining Winnie there, as he had been locked up in that room for so long.
