- Chapter 556: Vali Lucifer VS Sona Sitri (2nd Round) Part VI...
[Rating Game Field]
It just wasn’t Arthur who was surprised when Sona decided to play around with the Excalibur Ruler. It just wasn’t Sona who had realized the true identity of the sword. True, not many were able to identify the sword, but most have realized that the sword was some sort of Holy Sword.
But, Sona finally decided to grab the sword, all hell broke loose… Except for a few, nobody could understand how Sona could handle a Holy Sword without getting hurt. It simply wasn’t possible, Sona Sitri is Pureblood a Devil and there have been no records of anything that might allow a Devil to become immune to Holy Aura.
Even Serafall was gaping like a fish out of water, she wanted to stop the Match as soon as she realized that her sister was going to grab an Excalibur Fragment, but fortunately, Grayfia stopped her with a threatening glare as she mouthed Lady Hela. Serafall was glad that Grayfia saved her from committing suicide, but that didn’t mean that she was happy. She was worried about her cute little sister.
Then, Sona finally grabbed the sword and started to play around with it. Serafall’s eyes almost popped out of her head while her jaw dropped to the ground with a loud clang. It shouldn’t be possible… Sone was a Devil for Satan’s sake and that was a Holy Sword!! Holy things don’t mix well with anything Devil, but here she was, watching her sister play around with probably the strongest Excalibur Fragment.
Serafall knew that Sona had absorbed the Incinerate Anthem, one of the three Holy Relics, but that was only possible due to the mutation of the Heaven’s System, right? Did the Incinerate Anthem make Sona completely immune to Holy Aura? That might be the case, Serafall wasn’t an expert in these things, so she might need to check with Azazel.
Talking about Azazel, the man was watching the scene with a contemplative look on his face. He suspected that Sona might be able to wield a Holy Weapon, even though he got to train Sona, Serafall, and Grayfia had been watching like a hawk and after Yachiru Unohana returned, he was politely asked to stop training them since they were her students.
If the others weren’t watching, he might have talked Sona into helping him with some experiments. He wanted to know how Sona was affected after absorbing one of the three Holy Relics. His scientist mind wanted him to conduct the experiments regardless of the consequences or the danger, but ultimately, his self-preservation kicked in and he decided to not act recklessly.
Vali wasn’t happy… This wasn’t how he expected the Match to proceed. True, he didn’t expect Arthur and Sha to win the Match. He knew that he had lost the round as soon as Sona had decided to step forward, but he didn’t expect Sona to be this strong. He expected that Sona would at least have some problems fighting against the wielder of Excalibur Ruler and Caliburn.
He knew about the Incinerate Anthem, but he didn’t know that Sona would be probably immune to Holy Aura, but he realized that Sona probably knew about her immunity. That must have been why Sona didn’t look troubled even after Arthur started to use the Holy Swords… Well, the Match was a loss, Vali cursed inside his mind…
[Boss Room]
“Do you want to find out how good an Excalibur fares in the hand of a Devil?” Sona questioned with a huge grin on her face while her eyes started to glow in excitement. Without waiting for a reply, Sona slashed the ice floor with her sword. Arthur raised his eyebrows in confusion, as much as he knew the power of the sword wasn’t supposed to work with just a slash.
Moments later, Arthur was proved wrong when an Ice Golem started to rise from the ice floor. “Pity… you don’t know how to actually use this sword” Sona said in a disappointed tone and Golem lunged towards Arthur. Arthur’s eyes bugged out in surprise when he saw the Golem crawl out of the ice, but he wasn’t going to back down from the fight.
Arthur slashed Caliburn and the Golem was sliced right from the middle. That wasn’t how the power of Excalibur Ruler was supposed to work or did he truly did not know how the power of the sword was supposed to work? Arthur questioned himself, but he knew that he wasn’t going to find an answer and he had much bigger problems to deal with.
Sona was hiding behind Ice Golem and as soon as the Ice Golem was destroyed, she came into view. To be honest, Sona never expected the Ice Golem to work. It was just a distraction at best, and even her direct attack was simply a distraction. She had been aiming for something completely different and from the looks of it, her plan had worked.
Sona swung down the Excalibur Ruler with some of her power, but Arthur wasn’t a slouch even though he was barely standing. Sona might be able to handle a sword, but Arthur was way better than her at handling a sword, any day, anytime. So even though his knees buckled up, he held strong. Arthur grunted as the floor beneath him cracked. Since Arthur was in front of the throne, the ice hadn’t covered that much.
What Sona wanted is to make Arthur question himself. Sona didn’t create the Ice Golem with the power of Excalibur Ruler, instead, she had used her own power to raise the Golem. By saying that she used the Excalibur Ruler’s power, she raised doubts in Arthur’s mind. Now, he would wonder if he even knew how to use the sword he had owned for so long. Those questions would lead him to question his ability to handle Caliburn.
Sona was pleased to see that her plan was already working. Sona raised her foot and kicked Arthur in the gut as he was distracted due to the questions reeling inside his mind. “Oomphh!!” Arthur grunted as he was blasted away. Arthur collided against the throne and landed on the ground with a loud thump,
Arthur started to cough out blood and Sona started to slowly approach the fallen Knight. “I would have liked to show you the rest of the powers of this amazing sword, but I don’t think you will be able to stay conscious for that long. Please don’t take it the hard way, but it seems that I am better than you at handling this sword” Sona said in a disappointed tone while shaking her head.
Arthur started to grit his teeth in anger as he slowly pushed himself up from the ground. He knew that he was barely holding up, but his pride wouldn’t allow him to take an insult like that lying down. He would show her that she was wrong… But she had already proved that he didn’t know everything about the Excalibur Ruler and there might be other powers too, which he was unaware of.
There was a good chance that he really didn’t know how to use the Excalibur Ruler, Then if that really was the case then was he even worthy of wielding the Excalibur Ruler. Then, Arthur slowly looked down at his hands… He was holding Caliburn. If he didn’t know about all the powers of Excalibur Ruler, then it was highly possible that he didn’t know about all the powers of Caliburn.
Then was he even worthy of wielding Caliburn… Arthur’s hands shook. He didn’t know if it was due to the doubts in his mind or if it was due to all of his injuries. “Let’s see who is the better between the two of us… This is the first time I am going to use a sword in an actual and you are a Knight. So, how about it?” Sona asked with a mocking grin.
Arthur might be a good swordsman, but he was not a good poker player… Sona easily read him like a book and when she felt that it was time to land the final blow, she decided to challenge him to a sword fight in a mocking tone. No matter how good Arthur was, he had the same problem as Walburga. Both of them were humans and no matter how much they tried, their bodies could never match a Devil’s, additionally, Arthur was barely standing.
Arthur growled in anger and he lunged toward the Sona. In Arthur’s current state, he was nothing more than a child throwing a temper tantrum. Sona easily parried away his initial attack and slashed Arthur’s back. Arthur screamed in pain, but there was not much he could do. Arthur turned around with a scream and Sona stabbed him in the shoulder.
“This is it for you and you can keep the sword… I am not someone who likes swords” Sona said in a condescending tone as she let go of the sword. Arthur plopped down with the Excalibur Ruler stuck on his shoulder, but before he could even drop to the ground, he disappeared into white particles.
“Arthur Pendragon has been eliminated. Sona Sitri won the Third Round of the Dice Figure Game” Grayfia announced and with that, she was teleported back inside her dugout…
