The Exiled Count Acquired the Space Fortress of a Super Advanced Civilization - CH 12
As he stepped out of the Glorious Black Silver, Settsu looked down and saw that a low-gravity baby carriage had been prepared. It would run by sticking to the ground with a jet.
Settsu took his hands off the boat. He descended slowly and landed by the baby carriage. The surface of the ground was covered with fine dust and a little fluffy.
After landing on the surface, the four of us got into the bogies and headed for the terminal building. Their destination was Mars, located in the terminal.
We went through the airlock at the entrance of the terminal and went inside. The gravity was still 0.1G inside the terminal. This made it easier to move around in the large space.
“Yes, you’re the Havenberg of the Black and Silver Glory.”
The officer in charge of the business office is a muscular man with a face as strong as a pirate. His tone is polite, but more intimidating than a badly armed man.
“Yes, this is the record of our catch.”
Kitty handed the officer a small chip-like recording terminal. In it was a record of the ships Kitty had attacked and the damage they had caused on this voyage.
“Thank you for submitting the pirate report. How would you like to sell your catch?”
The officer quickly checks the contents of the chip.
“It’s a bit of a mixed bag, one anti-matter container. It’s only half full.”
“All right. Please apply for it. Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Two new crew members registered”
Kitty pointed to Setsuko and Mitsuki. It was for this reason that she had brought Mitsuki along this time.
“Yes. What is your name?”
Kitty showed her white surprise.
“The Count is a madman. You’re too drunk to spend such a large sum of money to spend a night with me.”
Setsueto dared not to say anything.
The officer seemed to have decided to keep quiet.
“Two crew cards, sir. Do you have anything else?”
The attendant bundled the two cards that came out of the machine in front of her and handed them to Kitty.
“No, thank you.”
While leaving the business office, Kitty handed the card to Setsuko and Mitsuki. There was a mug shot printed on it that had apparently been taken some time ago. It read, “Private, Royal Space Force.”
“What’s all this for?”
“It’s a magic card that will allow me to be contacted if you are ever arrested in this country. Other than that, it won’t do you any good.”
“Useless?”
“Yes, it is. It’s officially fake, so be careful.”
“It’s horrible.”
“There’s nothing to it if you just have it. It’s no secret that this country lends its name to pirates.”
Known fact. I’ve never heard of Sett at all.
“I’m talking about in the industry. It’s quite common in independent countries. They usually do it to get support from one of the big powers.”
“I see.”
There are many things in the world that Set does not know.
For a while after that, the “Glory of Black and Silver” stayed in the Kingdom of Mars-Camino.
The crew would take turns going to the restaurants and entertainment facilities in the terminal to kill time.
“People do that all the time.”
Settsu mumbled as he sipped his packaged tea.
It was a cafe in the terminal. Not being able to drink, and not being used to playing in such places, Settsu had nothing to do but drink tea in the cafe.
It was indeed a port for pirates. There were many taverns and gambling establishments.
Mitsuki is sitting across the table from me. Her expression was as unsure as ever. Mitsuki said that she would never leave my side if she didn’t know what was going to happen.
“Yes, because things like vacations and entertainment are very important when putting your life on the line.”
It was a little refreshing to hear Mitsuki say that, since she didn’t seem to be interested in entertainment at all.
“Is that so?”
“Yes. Stress has a very serious effect on the activities of living organisms. We need to rest when we can for the sake of accuracy of judgment, emotional stability, and so on.”
“I see.”
That’s probably why all the crew of the “Glory of Black and Silver” are heading off to wherever they want to go. The unlucky few who were left behind at the end looked uncomfortable, and it had become standard practice lately to say, “I’m going to rest at the cafe, so go ahead and do what you want.”
On the Glorious Black and Silver, Settsu had not yet been able to fit into the circle. Kitty had been good to him, and the rest of the crew cared for him, but seeing the bonds they had formed over the years, he sometimes felt mildly alienated.
“There are recreational facilities in the fortress as well.”
“What?”
“It’s a natural facility for long-term personnel stays. It’s not ready for use yet, though.”
“Given their current antics, it might be best to get them serviced sooner rather than later.”
“Yes, it is. However, we can’t help but give it a lower priority compared to combat equipment.”
The first priority for fortification repair is combat-related equipment.
The main guns and other offensive weapons, shield generators and other defensive weapons, and ammunition production facilities were the first to need repair.
The next facility proposed for restoration is the manufacturing facility for android soldiers.
The current fortress is helpless once they land inside. Therefore, they wanted to prepare androids like Mitsuki, but specialized in white combat.
Finally, the construction equipment.
However, this is the last in the list of priorities because without a flesh and blood person, the ship cannot be built and used. The reason why a flesh-and-blood human is needed is because an AI like Mitsuki is not allowed to make decisions.
“See if you can’t tuck it in there somewhere.”
“Yes, sir.”
As Setsuto and Mitsuki were discussing practical matters, Mitsuki suddenly stood up.
“Can I help you?”
Mitsuki stood in front of the soldier who was walking towards the table of Setsuko and the others.
He was a short, stocky man in a Royal Space Force uniform. He was not an acquaintance. He wore a sense of urgency that did not fit the relaxed atmosphere of the cafe.
This caused Mitsuki to react and stand in the way. The soldier did not expect to be blocked by Mitsuki.
“And you are?”
When the soldier did not say anything for a while, Settsu asked.
“Excuse me. My name is Luke Vetsia, and I am in charge of the Third Fleet in this country. I’m here to ask a favor of Lord Sia Azuna, or rather Lord Setsueto Vaile.”
Now it was Setsueto’s turn to be silent.
