The Exiled Count Acquired the Space Fortress of a Super Advanced Civilization - CH 7
The Glorious Black Silver continued to accelerate at 80% thrust after six hours of full acceleration. In space, the more you accelerate an object, the more it speeds up. After about half a day of acceleration, the Black Silver Glory had attained a speed of 20 kilometers per second.
It was ten hours after the start of full acceleration that the fleet of the Star System Defense Force appeared in front of it.
The defense force warped out to block the orbit of the Black Silver Glory, which was trying to get out of the warp blockage zone.
“What a neat warp-out.”
Kitty sighed as she looked at the warp-out situation. It had been a very beautiful warp out, with minimal disruption to the formation after the warp out.
“Surely the commander has sold his soul to the demon of meticulousness.”
“I wonder, why doesn’t the military let a few more random people come up through the ranks?”
“If you put the right guy in charge, you’ll win.”
“So what, you want the army to lose?”
“It’s their natural temperament. They’re dominant.”
On the bridge of the Black Silver Glory, the conversation quickly digressed.
“So, what’s the make up of these dominatrixes?”
It was Kitty’s job to bring that story back to the point.
“Twenty frigates and ten dragoons, that’s almost the entire cavalry force of the defense force here.”
“Dragoon.”
The eyes of the bridge gathered on Set.
“Are you there?”
No one could mistake the meaning of Kitty’s question.
“Wait a minute. ……. There you are. The Count’s tiger cub, Dia-Waide.”
“Well, then I guess I should return the favor for raising you so well.”
Kitty’s voice tone was laced with a dangerous hue.
It’s definitely not what the phrase “return the favor” means.
“Let’s do this, head.”
“What course should we take?”
“No, no, no, wait a minute. ……”
Setsueto panicked.
“Oops, I shouldn’t have done that. I have to listen to Botchan’s opinion on this.
“What do you say, Set? We’ll do anything you want.”
“Hold on.”
Kitty held back the distracted pirates.
“If you guys ask me with scary faces, I won’t be able to answer you honestly. Hey, Set.”
“Yes.”
Setsuko turned and looked at Kitty. Kitty leaned back from the couch and rested her cheek on his lap.
“Do you want me to beat you up, rip you apart, or pin you down?”
(What’s the difference?)
It seems that Settsu has no choice.
“Try to be as gentle as possible. ……”
“Because, Keuk. Thanks for the idea.”
“Why would I do that?”
“I can’t think of any way to thank a beautiful, innocent woman like me in a quiet way. I expect you to be the most sly thing on this ship.”
“Yes, yes. I’ll be expecting a nice gift.”
Ten minutes later, the Black Silver Glory changed course.
The ship was turned directly sideways against its previous trajectory and the main thrusters were sprayed. The ship took the sideways force and bent its orbit.
This information was immediately brought to the Count’s attention. The Count’s fleet was already monitoring the “Black Silver Glory” with optical and radio radar systems.
The Count’s decision was quick.
“Dragoons only, pursue the Black Silver Glory. Frigates, stand by, form up, and be ready to warp.”
The Count’s orders were relayed to the fleet.
The Frigate was designed to accompany the Dragoon, but its performance was inferior to the Dragoon’s. It was better to use the Dragoon alone for tracking, so that we could get closer to the Black Silver.
Ten dragoons slipped out of the line of ships, a mixture of dragoons and frigates. They were controlled by Count Vaile and the other ten noblemen sealed in the Nube system.
The dragoon squadron formed an orderly spindle-shaped formation and began to accelerate at full speed with a large jet of flame.
The acceleration of the Dragoon is faster than the acceleration of the .
“I’m sorry, sir. I’ve done the math and we’ll be out of the warp blockade before we can catch up.”
The report came up to the Count.
“Can’t you reach it?
“Yes, sir. Even at warp jammer range, we’re an hour short.”
“Good. Pay attention to the movements of the Black Silver Glorious Black Silver after it leaves the impediment zone. It’s either warp or come to warp, one of two things.”
That is, we can warp from the Black Silver Glory ship to where the enemy fleet is, or the enemy fleet can warp to us.
“Until then, I’m taking a half day.”
The Count decided to let half of the crew rest. It would be another fifteen hours before the Black Silver Glory exited the warp blockade. If nothing happens, there won’t be a battle until then.
The Count himself decided to take a rest. The Count disconnected from the ship and returned to his quarters.
After enjoying a glass of whiskey for dinner, he was about to take a rest when he was called from the cockpit.
“What’s wrong?”
The Black Silver Glory has stopped accelerating.
“Oh, and?”
“We’ll be in range in eight hours. What is the target?”
“…… I believe the Black Silver Glory had a battle with a bounty hunter the other day, correct?”
If we had just accelerated, we would have been able to get out of the warp blockage zone and warp safely. If we had stopped accelerating and let them catch up to us, we would have thought they wanted to fight, but that was impossible.
A single ship against a dragoon, and ten of them at that.
It’s reckless.
As far as the Empire knows, the Dragoon has been the most powerful combat ship in the universe for the last 200 years, ever since the Empire became an interstellar nation.
The Dragoon is a battlecruiser from the only production line that was miraculously available at the remains of what was probably a large shipbuilding arsenal.
Some of the technologies have been analyzed and imitated to the point where they can be made on their own without the need for ruins, but they are still far from the Dragoon.
There was an overwhelming lack of theory, technical understanding, smelting technology, and workmanship precision.
“Are you eager to die, sir?”
“Space pirates, huh? They’re businessmen. They don’t have the ball-breaking hobby we do.”
The Imperial aristocracy had a widespread belief that they should disperse gracefully rather than live to be prisoners and hand over the Dragoon to the enemy. The Count’s words were meant to make fun of that.
“Excuse me.”
“That’s fine. If it’s malfunctioning, there’s no need for us to tamper with it. We’ll simply launch the attack as soon as it’s in range.”
“Yes.”
An hour later, the Black Silver Glorious Black Silver began to accelerate again.
However, the loss of one hour of acceleration was significant, and we would be in range of the Dragoon just before we left the warp blockade.
