The Extra Refuses Excessive Obsession - Chapter 1
On an unusually fresh afternoon, I am walking at the back of the inn with a basket of laundry.
“Sigh, the weather is amazing.”
I stopped walking and raised my hand on my head.
I burst into admiration. The weather was nice, and I felt good too.
There is no cloud and just the clear blue sky.
“Normally, I would want to go on a picnic on a day like this.”
After grumbling, I shrugged when I saw the laundry in the basket.
“As if I can go for a picnic, I don’t have much time.”
It’s good not to work overtime. Today is the cleaning day of the inn that happens once a month.
The whole staff are busy sweeping and cleaning the inn. Thus, I am not exception.
“Phew, I don’t want this.”
The weather is so nice today. I want to skip.
I kicked with the use of my feet again, suppressing the urge of wanting to skip deep inside.
“Sophie!”
I am busy walking, and someone hit me roughly on the back.
Spank!
A slap came to me with a loud noise. I turned around and saw a familiar face.
“Zera?”
It was Zera, an employee that is the same age as mine and is my close friend.
“I called you earlier. Didn’t you hear that?”
“Did you?”
“I called you ten times.”
“Sorry, I was thinking about something else.”
“You’re weird these days. You don’t even hear me calling your name.”
Zera’s had a trembling expression on her face.
“Sophie, are you still not feeling well?”
“Eii, it’s already been a month.”
“Are you still sick as hell?”
Her worried eyes met mine.
I just shrugged and fixed the laundry basket. The white cloth fluttered inside the basket.
“It’s all right now, I am perfectly fine.”
Though I did say it like that, there is a real reason behind it.
This is because I have not gotten used to the name Sophie even though I have been in this world for more than a month.
Simply put, Sophie is the name of this body owner, not me.
Are you asking me why?
It means that this place is in a novel.
It’s a different world, and what’s the probability that I am in the book I was reading? How likely am I to be in someone else’s body the moment I opened my eyes?
One in a million?
Or one in ten million?
I won the astronomical odds.
In the midst of absurdity and confusion, the most surprising thing is the identity of this body’s owner.
Her name is Sophie, 21 years old, commoner, and lives in an inn. Usually in movies and dramas, she’s the main female character or her friend. Far from being around me, I had possessed a rural commoner who had no contact with the main characters in the original story.
I heard that the owner of the body was seriously ill a month ago, and was vomiting blood.
Presumably, I came into this body as a soul.
Objectively speaking, it is an exciting situation, but I am very satisfied with it.
Why?
“Sophie, isn’t the weather really nice today? I can’t believe cleaning an inn on a day like this. Do you want to go get some beer on your way home from work later?”
Because the environment surrounding me is so great.
First of all, this is the eastern border town of the Rohatine Empire, “Ferron.”
It is a picturesque village with beautiful mountain ranges to the north and vast lakes to the south.
The green grassland, which covers the entire village, is so fresh that it is as fresh as Northern Europe, which is always seen in pictures.
Of course there is no employment war here, and there is no hell railway. This means that you don’t have to live busily and be run over by people.
Although the inn’s work is a little tough, my work-life balance is definitely guaranteed.
The third day I opened my eyes here, I made up my mind.
If you are gonna ask me, just living in a fairy tale village where others pay for themselves without worrying about starvation is enough reason for me to bury my bones here.
“Hey Sophie, Zera. Are you working hard?”
Then a man’s voice intervened between the two of us, who were walking side by side. Not to mention anyone first, Zera and my expression became stiff.
“Mr. President.”
Then a middle-aged man with a shaggy beard suddenly lifted his head and came between us.
“What are you so surprised about?”
This punk is the only impurity in my happy life.
He runs the inn and is the richest man in the village, but he is not yet married.
His specialty is talking nonsense, and his hobby is making employees laugh.
Anyway, the problem is this world or that world are both employers.
I am questioning the Grim Reaper why he still hasn’t got this thing.
“Pretty girls, are you going to do the laundry?”
“Yes, well…”
“Are you proud of your hard work? Do you want a bonus?”
The innkeeper smiled softly and reached out to Zera’s hips. I caught it naturally.
“Ho ho, boss. Your hands are going to fly away.”
“…huh. Isn’t Sophie so quick-reflexed?”
“Thank you for the compliment.”
When the president replied, “It’s just too awkward,” he coughed in vain. He gently rubbed his wrist and decided to retract when he was one beat slower.
“Oh, you’re strong, too.”
“Thanks to you.”
I grinned as I lifted up the mountain-like laundry.
The boss, who had been rubbing his lips a few times, disappeared to the other side. I shook my hands belatedly.
“Thank you, Sophie.”
“Thanks, one day he will take a beating from me.”
If it were South Korea, he would have to pay a visit to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and be forced to eat beans, but sadly, there is no such institution in this country.
Of course there may be, but this countryside isn’t appreciated, so this town is basically non-existent.
Thanks to him, I am just waiting for the day I spank that punk.
“I’ll have to get my act together.”
While I was mumbling again, I headed to the laundry with Zera.
“Sophie, Zera! Come here. I saved you a seat.”
The employees are already working together in the laundry area.
Zera and I sat between the cracks.
Then their chatter continued when they saw us.
“You said the capital is preparing for the royal wedding this time?”
“The Crown Prince is about to marry.”
“I envy them. What kind of young lady who will get married to the Crown Prince?”
“She must be part of the most noble family in the capital.”
The capital and the aristocracy are still in conversation today.
Everything the commoners talked about is in there.
Originally, the stories of nobles and the capital are the best in this kind of place.
However, I am not interested in the stories of the aristocrats, unlike the people in the neighborhood whose ears get pricked.
It is understandable as because I had already read it all in the original novel.
“Does that mean she will become the Empress in the future then?
I very well knew that the main character in their conversation is the heroine in the novel.
There would be a lot of twists and turns, but she will be going to overcome all the odds and become the empress. Blessed by many people,
“Sophie, do you have anything to say?”
“You know I’m not interested in that.”
I replied insincerely to Zera, who dodge me with his elbow.
Actually, there are many things I could say. The royal marriage that has been issued now will be declined in less than a year, as the crown prince will marry a princess from a small kingdom, and not the young lady of this country, as the princess will save the continent from crisis because she actually has an enormous power.
It is a story that every person in this town wouldn’t believe anyway. It’s a good thing she’s not regarded as heretical.
“Sophie is really amazing. She has a unique atmosphere around her.”
The employee who is lathering the laundry across the street laughed and said.
“Yes, Sophie has a mysterious feeling around her. She is so indifferent to stuff about nobles.”
“When I first met Sophie, I thought she was a runaway young lady.”
“I do remember that too.”
Right after I finished my break, I then helped them.
I squeezed the wet laundry all over again.
It is already a topic of conversation several times.
This is what I am going to do. Sophie, whom I possessed, is not actually born and raised in this town.
A few years ago, she suddenly appeared at the entrance of the village, and when she was first discovered, she looked terrible.
It is said that her whole body was covered in blood, her clothes were rags, and her feet was in barefoot, but her strange atmosphere kept people from approaching her easily.
“And isn’t Sophie actually very pretty?”
The moment they said that, I looked at my face that shone on the calm water. I looked carefully at it like it was a mirror.
I definitely have a noticeable appearance as people say. To be honest, she isn’t just noticeable, but she is so pretty.
She has pale skin, a straight nose, golden eyes, and curly pink hair.
Overall, she has a fresh cat like image, and everyone would turn around her at least once.
I then glanced down at my inner thigh this time. There I saw a large burn mark right on the right part all the way to the calf.
Zera said it was a wound she had since when I was found at the entrance to the village.
I lamented quietly by myself.
The owner of this body must have a miserable fate.
She’d been through all sorts of hardships, and she lost her own life at the age of 21.
“Right, I just thought of it. Did you hear about Duke Cedric?”
At that moment, I became unconsciously triggered about the familiar name that entered right into my ears.
“Duke Cedric? Why? ”
“Why, you knew about her youngest sister who disappeared a few years ago.”
In order for her to be overheard , she lowered her voice.
“… He had already searched half of the Empire for her youngest sister. I heard he’ll be coming to this area this month.
“He’s still looking for his missing youngest sister? Wasn’t she already dead?”
“You could still be alive.”
The Duke’s, missing youngest sister.
I snorted inwardly listening to these familiar words.
Well, nah. She already died a long time ago.
“Duke Cedric,” the brother of the missing young lady, is the main villain of the novel.
He is the first family member to inherit the title at an early age, a psycho all throughout, unlike his gentle appearance.
And for some reason, he even had a scene where he went completely crazy after his youngest sister disappeared.
How terrible is his madness you say? It was to the point where he is described as the duke who had no break in killing because he killed people when he was bored.
The terrible madness of this villain could not be avoided even by the heroine.
Because she kidnapped and imprisoned the female lead who resembles her dead sister, and tried to kill her.
Ugh, what a crazy guy he is.
I trembled due to the faint memory I had.
Well even if I’m an extra, I still don’t want to be involved in it even in dreamland.
“…is she really alive?”
Someone asked carefully.
I shook my head quietly alone. She can’t be alive. The novel itself won’t flow originally in the first place if that happens.
Unlike me, who quickly lost interest, the other employees gulped down and focused on the story.
“I actually heard his younger sister’s appearance this time.”
As I mucked the laundry hard, my hair simmered down my shoulders
I’ll definitely cut this person’s hair off.
But instead I curled my hair on top of course.
“What did you say, rose gold hair.”
“Golden eyes.”
This won’t work out.
I then fixed my squatting position.
“And there was a big burn on her leg. Butterfly shape.”
My hand, which was holding the laundry again, stopped. At the same time, the sound of words that were moving back and forth suddenly stopped.
I suddenly felt some kind of creeping feeling that I didn’t know why.
I then slowly raised my head. Before I knew it, all the eyes of the laundry staff were on me.
After a long silence, someone opened their mouth.
“…isn’t this about Sophie?”
Whoa. Hey, wait a minute.
