Chapter 30 – Love’s Escape (3)

He tugged to her hand, jumped while hugging her. She was almost in the verge of screaming at the top of her lungs when she covered her mouth to prevent that.
‘What the h*ll!’
Their stepping lightly touched the ground and ran not letting go of her. From then, Plein ran alongside them.
“I saw a small hole over there.”
With Plein’s guidance, they entered the depths of the Marquis’s garden, and upon arriving, there was indeed holes where people could easily come and go.
Lawrence put Alice down and whispered in her ear.
“We’re going out here.”
“How did you know about this place?”
Alice had lived here for 4 years but it was a place she had never known.
“Is that important now?”
Lawrence’s face was so close to hers that she stepped back which almost bumped into Plein. It would have been worse if Lawrence hadn’t caught her on time. Because of that, she became closer to Lawrence, but she did as he said.
“That’s so smooth.”
“Don’t talk like that!”
At Lawrence’s muttering, Alice involuntarily exclaimed.
‘Whenever he says like that, something happens.’
While pursing his lips, there was a faint smile plastered on his face, with a sullen expression before whispering into her ears.
“Plein will go first, you will follow, then I’d be the last one to go out.”
Getting out of the hole didn’t appear to be that difficult, she just had to crawl out, rather. It was not a thing that a noble lady would actually do.
“I can’t help but feel sad since I can’t jump beyond the fence while holding you.”
Lawrence added, seeing her expression. While saying, Plein took the chance to crawl out of the hole, and Alice hurriedly fell down to follow behind Plein.
“I’ll go first!”
Whispering cheerfully to Lawrence, she slipped through the hole. As she brushed off her skirt, there was a person standing in front of her. The one who stood tall was none other than Benedict, who was aiming his sword at them.
“Be, Sir Benedict? Why are you here…”
“The lady wasn’t in the room, so I came out.”
Seeing that Alice’s pupils widened, Benedict smiled, raising only the corner of his mouth.
****
After confirming that Alice’s breathing in her room was moving evenly, Benedict checked his surroundings. Coincidentally, when the servants weren’t around, he immediately asked Plein.
“What’s going on here?”
“Why is a member of the duke family here?”
Plein replied without even looking at Benedict. Benedict did the same, but pretended that didn’t know each other, and the two begun talking.
“Duke of Littenverk and you too, why are you both here?”
“It is none of your business.”
“As an aide of Lawrence, you’re rather picky.”
“Who are you talking about?”
Plein whispered without losing a word to him. Benedict, who passed the sound of his bell beside him through the back of his ear, thought. What would happen tonight?
****
Lawrence laughed out loud at the sight of Benedict holding Plein hostage and threatening Alice.
“Wouldn’t it be nice to see Plein?”
“At least I can stop the kidnapping of the daughter from Erha Empire.”
Lawrence was annoyed at his respectful performance while brazenly hiding his identity in front of his Master, Alice. He approached him, pushed the back of her sword with his hand, and snorted at the weak moving blade.
‘That’s right.’
“What if it wasn’t kidnapping?”
“Then what?”
“The Escape of Love.”
“What?”
Benedict’s brow narrowed. He wanted to retort the frown on his face, as if he had heard something he didn’t hear, but Lawrence couldn’t bear to open his mouth.
If he said he had nothing to do with Alice, he would lose his cause.
‘I’d rather disclose it.’
Obviously, Benedict would ask Alice to come together with him since the gaze looking at her were full of emotions.
Curiosity or fun?
Seeing the emotion in his eyes, Lawrence asked him.
“You’re on a love’s escape?”
“That’s right.”
Alice helped Lawrence by answering Benedict’s question. Instantly, his expression turned ugly seeing her grabbing Lawrence’s arm. He had no intention of stopping them, instead an excuse.
“Is that so?”
“Yes, so please stop blocking our way.”
He felt a lot in Alice’s eyes as she glared at Benedict like an obstruction of the love of the century. The fear was clearly revealed in the shaking pupil.
Upon reading that fear, Benedict’s expression relaxed in an instant. Because he knew Alice wasn’t doing her love escapades because she loved Lawrence.
“Then I will go with you.”
“I’m running away with this man. Why would Sir Benedict come alone?”
“Because I have to protect the lady.”
Alice blinked at Benedict’s sudden words.
‘Why is he like this?’
She was clearly on her love run and hinted that she wanted to be with the person she liked, but he didn’t recognize her words and immediately wanted to escort her.
“What would you do if something happened to you in the Nakran Empire?”
Benedict knew everything about her even though she hadn’t even mentioned her plans to go to the Nakran Empire.
“How did you know? That I am going to the Nakran Empire?”
“Because Duke Littenverk is from the Nakran Empire. If it’s an escape, isn’t that what it should be?”
Benedict now understands her behavior, which he thought was strange from the beginning.
‘I thought he was planning to escape the Erha Empire.’
Alice took a step away from Lawrence, his look mad her caught off guard. A smile spread across Benedict’s lips.
Her smile vanished in an instant as Lawrence grabbed Alice by the waist and hugged her.
“I will protect her.”
“Yes?”
“So, she doesn’t need you?”
Lawrence whispered in Alice’s ear, causing the tips of her ears to turn red. Lawrence raised the corner of his mouth at Benedict as if provoking him. In an instant, Benedict’s expression hardened, and he glared at Lawrence with fearful eyes.
Except for Alice, who cares about the sound of the voice left from the tip of her ears, she gets on the nerves of those present. It was Alice who stopped the strange confrontation.
“Go with me.”
“Miss Alice!”
“However, if you go together with us and reach the Nakran Empire, you will return by then.”
Alice’s words made Lawrence and Benedict’s expressions match.
“Where am I going to return to?”
“Your hometown is Erha Empire. So, I have to go back to the Empire.”
Lawrence, who liked Benedict’s expression as he stood blankly, added a satisfied smile. Lawrence was delighted to learn that Benedict was from the Nakran Empire.
‘He lied about his identity and hid in the family of a marquis.’
It was clear that if Benedict, who had fled to the Erha Empire because he hated power struggles, returned to Nakran, lightning would strike the family of Flenas.
“Okay then let’s go together.”
After doing the math in his head, Lawrence spoke words of approval. After giving Plein, who stared at him with his mouth open in disbelief, a look to shut up, Lawrence turned to Benedict and gave him a questioning smile.
“I’m going to go to the capital of the Nakran Empire, but if you want to go together, go. The duke will like it.”
He threatened to reveal your identity to Alice if he went with them, but Benedict didn’t mind.
“Great.”
Benedict nodded and took a step forward towards Lawrence, whispering affectionately to Alice standing next to him.
“Because I am originally from the Nakran Empire.”
“Uh? What?”
“Yes, lady. So, I will be of help.”
The voice that came out of his mouth was as sweet as swallowing honey. Feeling itchy for no reason at the soft, whisper-like voice, Alice rubbed her arm.
The auricle, which had been reddened by Lawrence, returned to its original color. Benedict, who observed the change, lifted his chin in satisfaction.
“What are you doing? I want you to stay away from my woman.”
“My woman, my foot.”
“Aren’t we on a love escape?”
Lawrence waved his hand, giving off the air that you were no more than an escort knight. Benedict felt offended by that hand movement as if to expel dirt.
“A love affair or not, we’ll know when we reach Nakran Empire.”
Lawrence’s expression hardened. The fact that Benedict Flenas appeared like that meant that he was very interested in Alice. He wondered why Benedict, who only knew how to love himself, was interested in Alice.
Undaunted by his attention, Lawrence kissed Alice so that Benedict could recognize his position.
‘Get out of here, double personality!’
Benedict also licked his lips without losing.
‘This crown prince’s dog!’
Sharp eyes crashed into the air. Concealing their thoughts, Benedict joined Lawrence’s group.
