The Extraordinary Ordinary - Chapter 10 Mechanism Schedule
“It’s correct?” Chrome opened his eyes calmly as he got up and inspected the ceiling, the surrounding, checked the time on the clock and finally searched for his phone.
“So it’s indeed like that” seeing that his phone was his normal touch screen phone, Chrome confirmed that he had indeed returned back to his own reality.
Alter Chrome’s financial state wasn’t really the best, so he only had a normal button phone which he used for work, so it was easy to use the touch screen that Chrome had as a way to differentiate between realities
Last day in the parallel dream, he had waited out the time by reading some old books in the house till the clock almost hit midnight, before heading to sleep, and here was not a few seconds away from having just closed his eyes there, exactly at 1 minute past 8 am, this meant that he could finally confirm his assumptions!
Not forgetting to check the calendar as well, Chrome’s theory about the whole mechanism of this world exchange paradox could be considered complete.
‘It’s like this’ grabbing a note and a pen from the desk beside his bed, Chrome started writing everything about it down so that he could check if he missed anything else

Parallel world’s alter exchange theory:
1. The day passes in the main reality first.
2. Sleeping in the period from 8 am to 11:59 pm results in normal sleep with no exchanges taking place.
3. Sleeping at 12 am in the main reality and after that would automatically cause the exchange to happen.
4. Sleeping in the normal sleep period and continuing into the exchange period in the main reality will give a mix of normal dreaming which ends with the exchange taking place.
5. After the exchange takes place, the day in the parallel reality also starts from 8 am to 11:59.
6. Point 2, 3 & 4 also describe the process in the parallel reality but with the exchanged reality being reversed.
+ [Normal reality] = usual reality with no superpowers and the same reality that didn’t change until yesterday. < …. >
+ [Parallel reality] = distorted reality which had only entered my life a day ago, has supernatural phenomena and abnormal energy.<ability ‘self-reliance=”” palace’=”” exists=””>

“This should be it all but” as Chrome finally wrote down everything in a detailed and easily understandable style, he read through it once again as made sure that he didn’t forget nothing but the thing that he didn’t test yet, whether the ‘Self-Reliance Palace’ worked in his normal reality or not!
He had merely left dot in its place as he wanted to finish writing everything before getting to test it
‘Self-Reliance? Self-Reliance… assessment scroll?’ However, as Chrome tried to think deeply about the palace or the scroll
for visiting.
“As expected” there was no response whatsoever, just as he had already expected.
‘Lightning’ not forgetting to also give his [Basic Lightning] ability a try, Chrome was still faced with complete silence as nothing changed.
‘That does make sense’
Even after his return last time, there was nothing that has changed with this world, it was exactly as it was just before his exchange dream, so it would be extremely strange if his supernatural abilities were to work here, it would mean that it wouldn’t be far fetched to dominate a whole country given several years of time
That was at least what Chrome thought while referring to the top ranking Extras who definitely had the power to do so at the moment.
“Let’s get up first then.” leaving his bead and wearing his slippers, Chrome scratched his eyes a bit as he opened the window in his room before heading out through the door
“Eh?!” Chrome’s mother, Sarah, was shocked as she looked at him with slight confusion
“Is there something wrong mom?” Chrome asked as he didn’t understand what was wrong as he was too concentrated his thoughts
‘Could it be that my body has changed in some way or another?!’ thinking about this illogical possibility, Chrome didn’t think it would be impossible for something like that to happen after what he went through.
‘Nothing is different?’ quickly taking a look at the mirror that was hung on the kitchen’s side wall to see what happened, Chrome was confused about the reason for his mother’s surprise
“Oh my, not only did you respond to me waking you up yesterday, but you also woke up on your own today honestly, I’m shocked.” Sarah smiled as she said in a tone that showed that she was quite impressed with this fact.
“Ah, right” finally returning back to his normal thinking mindset, Chrome finally realized that it was indeed not normal for him to wake up this early, not to mention 8 am, he sometimes woke up in the afternoon, at least during summer break
“Did something special happen? Or is it also the nightmare from yesterday?” Sarah asked as she teased Chrome a bit.
“Well, it wasn’t exactly a nightmare, I was somehow able to continue it today and it turned into a great dream!” Chrome responded jokingly as he mixed some truths into his joke.
“A great dream? Well, I won’t ask you about what happened more, since you already up, help me put out the dishes and wake up your father if possible.” Sarah snickered a bit before starting to make use of the moment, her son isn’t going to wake up this early, everyday, so it was only normal that she would have him help her a bit, or so was what she thought
“Sure.” Chrome obviously didn’t mind; after all, he himself had experienced several sad memories of alter Chrome when he would wake up early and eat breakfast on his own, being extremely depressed as he remembered the old days, before being forced to go out for his work which started early in summer.
“Wait, this easy? Where did my normal son go? Are you perhaps an alien or some sort of a doppelganger who has taken over my son’s identity? Well, I don’t mind anyway, you seem to be doing much better than him anyway, hahaha” Sarah carried on with her jokes as she continued snickering, these snickers hid behind them a bit of happiness about how her son seemed to change for the better.
‘Well, if he continues and doesn’t stop in the middle like he usually does, that is,’ she thought.
“Thanks mom, don’t worry, I won’t release that lazy guy out, hehe.” Chrome himself was also quite the joker, unlike alter Chrome who was the one people in his highschool joked about
“That’s good then, here, take these plates out,” Sarah smiled in response as he handed Chrome a set of plates.
“Yes ma’am!” taking the plates from his mother’s hand as he assigned them on the table before heading towards his parents’ room to wake up his father
`~~~`~~~`~~~`
After waking up his father and hearing the jokes that he threw after his initial surprise at the change of Chrome’s behaviour along with his habits, Chrome had breakfast with the three of them as a family once more, before sending his father away for work, and even helping his mother with the dishes.
Spending the rest of the day having some fun as to wash the miserable memories that he had to endure the last day, from his own point of view at that, before finally getting down to thinking about what he could do about the exchange mechanism to make it better for him…
‘Is this schedule alright?’ Chrome thought as he looked at the piece of paper where he had just written out a potential sleeping timetable.

Sleeping Timetable:
1. Normal Reality, within 8~10 am.
2. Parallel Reality, possible naps before 12 am, ??????.

Not completely sure about how he should set up his complete sleeping schedule for the parallel world which had much that is yet to be decided, Chrome believed that he needed to at least sleep as early as possible, of course, without overdoing it, all in an attempt to get some actual sleep in his 28 hours day, being quite a bit longer than normal human days.
While he didn’t actually feel sleep deprived from not having actual sleeps as he exchanged the last two times, meaning that it didn’t actually put a burden on his mind, Chrome still believed that he should cut out some of these 28 hours, as the normal mind wasn’t supposed to experience that much in a single day. Described in little words, sleep was not something that he required, but it was something that would help his ease the tension a bit
Chrome wasn’t even sure about how all this has happened, he may have managed to understand its mechanism, but that was all he had, the mystery of how he could be awake through a total of 28 hours a day was left without an answer for now, he could only play along with it and try to get whatever he could from it.
Looking at the hour which was about to turn to 8, Chrome finally closed his phone as he put it on the desk beside him and grabbed the cover on him a bit as he finally closed his eyes
‘Tomorrow is a big day after all or should I say today is?’
