Chapter 31
“Miss Jing, I’ve finally managed to get some alone time with you.”
The investor slowly approached Jing Zejun, who fearfully tried to back away.
But her body had no strength! Her head was spinning, and she felt like she would faint at any moment.
“Brother Li! Brother Li!” she tried to call out, but her voice was faint, filled with weakness and terror.
I can’t faint! I can’t pass out!
Jing Zejun bit her lip hard, trying to keep herself alert. Her lips turned pale, leaving deep marks inside her mouth. She could even taste blood.
The investor advanced step by step, a greedy, lecherous smile on his face. “No use calling out. Your agent is probably outside the hotel with Director Li by now.”
Jing Zejun could only watch helplessly, powerless to act.
His hand moved from her face down her neck. Jing Zejun shuddered, feeling ice-cold all over as an overwhelming sense of humiliation washed over her.
She spotted a wine glass nearby and used her last bit of strength to sweep it onto the floor, creating a sharp shattering sound.
This was her final hope…
Just as the investor was about to force himself on her, the room door was kicked open.
A glimmer of hope flickered in Jing Zejun’s despairing eyes as she saw Jing Yi.
“Get the fuck out of here!”
The interrupted investor was furious, but seeing Jing Zejun lying on the couch, Jing Yi was even angrier.
Her eyes, usually filled with mirth, were now sharp and cold as ice.
“You bastard!” she snarled through gritted teeth, immediately charging at the investor.
Jing Yi’s fist flew out, aimed at his face. Her powerful punch landed squarely on the investor’s jaw.
Caught off guard, the investor was knocked to the ground. The sound of breaking glass and scraping echoed harshly through the room.
Jing Yi took off her coat and draped it over Jing Zejun.
The woman on the couch, her eyes red, finally let her tears fall freely now that a familiar face had arrived.
“Yi Yi!”
Jing Yi felt rage boiling inside her, but looking at Jing Zejun, she still managed to force a smile. “Wait here for me.”
The investor, knocked to the floor, wiped blood from the corner of his mouth. His face was dark, his gaze menacing.
He clearly had no idea who this woman was or where she’d come from.
“Miss, I advise you not to meddle in affairs that don’t concern you! Go back to wherever you came from!”
“Oh really? Well, this miss just loves to meddle!”
Jing Yi flexed her wrists and charged again. The investor’s face twisted with malice as he grabbed a wine bottle from the table, ready to smash it.
“Yi Yi!”
Jing Yi dodged to the side. The bottle smashed on the table as she delivered a high kick to her oncoming attacker.
Caught off guard, the investor was sent sprawling to the floor in an undignified heap.
Jing Yi gave him no chance to recover, instantly pouncing on him and pinning him down.
“You’d better let me go! Do you have any idea who I am?” the investor snarled through clenched teeth, still trying to threaten Jing Yi despite the pain.
Jing Yi’s face remained expressionless as she clenched her fist again. Each punch landed with precision and force on the investor’s face and body.
“Li Yu! Are you fucking blind? Do you not want your funding anymore?!”
The commotion in the room caught the agent’s attention. He had originally planned to wake up the director, but hearing the noise, he rushed in.
The room had descended into chaos, though it was more of a one-sided beating. When he saw Jing Zejun, he finally understood what had happened!
No wonder the director had been acting so strangely, insisting on dragging him outside!
The agent wanted to check on Jing Zejun, but seeing Jing Yi in that state, he could only stand there dumbfounded.
The director was in a similar state. Even if he could fight, Jing Zejun’s agent’s ‘dare to rush in and I’ll beat you up’ expression was enough to intimidate him.
Jing Zejun, worried that Jing Yi might seriously hurt the man, called out to her. “Yi Yi…”
Her voice finally made Jing Yi stop. Jing Yi was also getting tired from the beating. She looked at the investor, who was now in too much pain to speak.
Jing Yi grabbed him by the collar and threw him into the corner. A smile finally returned to her face.
But to the investor, it looked even more terrifying. No matter how beautiful Jing Yi was, it didn’t change the fact that her fists were hard as steel!
“You were asking if I knew who you were, right?”
The investor fearfully shook his head, his eyes filled with terror.
Jing Yi’s lips curled into a smirk as she pointed at Jing Zejun. “I think you should look into who she is. Otherwise, you might not even know how you ended up dead.”
The investor looked confused. He had investigated Jing Zejun and found that she was just a girl from an ordinary family. Her parents had passed away a few years ago, and she had been struggling alone in the entertainment industry.
Seeing his expression, Jing Yi knew he had no idea that Jing Zejun was the daughter of the Jing family.
Come to think of it, if he had known, he probably wouldn’t have dared to make a move on her.
The more Jing Yi thought about it, the angrier she became. This investor was bad enough, but that director was no better!
“What? You thought because she was from an ordinary family, you could do whatever you wanted with her?”
The investor shook his head frantically, his eyes filled with fear. “Miss, ma’am! It’s my fault! I didn’t recognize her importance. I’ve offended Miss Jing! I’ll make amends! Whatever compensation is needed, I can arrange it!”
Jing Yi laughed bitterly, about to say something more.
Jing Zeyou and Jing Zeqian had already arrived at the door, followed by a string of hotel staff.
Jing Yi raised an eyebrow. “Compensation, huh? Those two will tell you what kind of compensation Jing Zejun needs.”
“Come in and close the door!”
She was trying to maintain some consideration for Jing Zejun’s celebrity status. Bringing so many people, were they afraid her name wouldn’t make the headlines tomorrow?
Jing Zeqian and Jing Zeyou rushed in to see this scene. Before he could roll up his sleeves, Jing Yi’s voice reminded the two that a crowd of people was still behind them.
Jing Zeqian quickly closed the door, shutting out everyone outside the private room, including the director and the agent.
Jing Yi walked to Jing Zejun’s side, tightening the coat around her. “Did he do anything to you?”
Jing Zejun’s eyes were red as she forced a small smile, her voice barely a whisper. “No, he didn’t have the chance to do anything. You arrived just in time.”
Jing Yi’s face was filled with sympathy as she gently embraced Jing Zejun, patting her back softly.
From behind came the sound of Jing Zejun’s quiet sobs. “Yi Yi, I was so scared.”
Jing Zejun had truly felt desperate earlier. She thought her life was over. She didn’t know why the director had disappeared, why her agent hadn’t returned, leaving her alone here…
In her moment of despair, Jing Yi had arrived, suddenly giving Jing Zejun hope.
But seeing Jing Yi alone, she had worried that Jing Yi might not be able to overpower the investor. It wasn’t until she saw Jing Yi’s fighting skills that she felt safe enough to wait on the couch.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. I’m here now.”
Jing Yi softly comforted Jing Zejun, allowing her to release all the fear and emotion she had been holding back.
