Chapter 37
At the Hengjing Group, Jing Zeyou had just finished a meeting and was the first to leave the conference room.
A man in his thirties followed closely behind Jing Zeyou, carrying a laptop. “…Baoqing Group has sent an invitation. They’re holding a jewelry auction next Tuesday.”
Jing Zeyou strode into the elevator with his long legs and looked at his secretary. “I recall Baoqing’s people mentioning two special gemstone necklaces at the auction?”
“Yes, sir.” The assistant pulled out a thin magazine from his files and handed it to Jing Zeyou.
He flipped through it, pointing at two items. “Bid by phone for these two, and also for a jade bracelet.”
Jing Zeyou indicated two sapphire necklaces. One was a pearl and gemstone necklace with a pendant made of sapphires and diamonds forming a flower shape, the chain composed of plump pearls.
The other was a diamond necklace with a pendant of a pure but uniquely shaped sapphire, the chain made of diamonds.
“Certainly, General Jing,” Assistant Chen took back the magazine and returned it to its original place.
These were likely meant for General Jing’s two sisters, but it wasn’t his business who they were for. He only needed to obtain the items after next week’s bidding and hand them over to General Jing.
“At eleven o’clock this morning, General Shen from Huarui Group will arrive to discuss the details of our companies’ collaboration,” the assistant continued to report Jing Zeyou’s upcoming work schedule. “The meeting room has been arranged, and the specific contract documents have been placed on your desk.”
Jing Zeyou nodded slightly, glanced at his watch, and pushed open the door to enter his office.
Assistant Chen stopped at the doorway. After Jing Zeyou returned to his office, he turned and walked towards his own desk.
For the next while, Jing Zeyou would likely be reviewing documents and handling work. During this time, he rarely called for his assistant, but that didn’t mean Chen could be idle.
Assistant Chen got up, taking the product magazine from earlier, and walked into the president’s office, approaching an employee.
“Little Lu, for next Tuesday’s Baoqing Group auction, you’re responsible for contacting the auction staff and bidding by phone for these three items.”
“Understood, Assistant Chen.”
Before Assistant Chen came in, the office had been quiet. The young employees were busy with their own tasks, brows slightly furrowed and expressions serious, the air filled with the tapping of keyboards.
Occasionally, a few employees in professional attire would hurry between the office and their workstations.
The previously quiet office became animated at the mention of the jewelry auction.
Their president, who had been perpetually single, was suddenly interested in a jewelry auction, and bidding on three pieces at once!
“Assistant Chen, does our president have something going on?” Several people gathered around, their faces full of curiosity.
In front of the president, they wouldn’t dare to be so presumptuous, but although Assistant Chen usually maintained a serious face, he was quite approachable. He would often cover for them when there were occasional work slip-ups.
Most importantly, Assistant Chen was also quite fond of gossip.
Assistant Chen glanced at them, “Gossiping about the president’s private affairs? Don’t you want your jobs?”
Despite his serious expression, the employees surrounding him weren’t scared. Their eyes still gleamed with curiosity.
Assistant Chen cleared his throat a few times and glanced towards Jing Zeyou’s office. “General Jing recently found two sisters.”
The employees suddenly realized, remembering the recent rumors circulating in the company about the president finding his biological sister, but ending up with two sisters.
“So it’s true that one is Jing Zejun, right?” The girl who spoke up was excited.
She was a fan of Jing Zejun and couldn’t believe that her idol turned out to be the legendary heiress of a wealthy family.
Assistant Chen nodded slightly, and the surrounding discussion grew louder. “I’m telling you, keep your gossip down!” As the voices grew louder, Assistant Chen had to remind everyone.
They might not care about their jobs, but he still needed this job to make a living, even though he wasn’t married yet.
“Then, who’s the other sister?”
“Why ask so much? All you need to know is that the president treats both sisters equally.”
At least on the surface.
Assistant Chen waved the magazine in his hand, reminding the employees with various thoughts.
They nodded in understanding.
Assistant Chen didn’t say more. “Little Lu, keep this matter in mind. After the auction ends, the items need to be in General Jing’s hands.”
The young employee quickly agreed.
After Assistant Chen left, the office, quiet for a moment, gathered together again.
“Hey, do you think the other sister is the one brought back from abroad?”
A nearby colleague leaned in, also speaking softly: “Of course. It’s said she was raised by General Jing’s grandmother and only recently returned to the Jing Family.”
“Wow, how could those two heiresses possibly get along? One is the real heiress who finally returned to the wealthy family, the other is the fake heiress who’s enjoyed the luxurious life since childhood.”
Just thinking about it made them feel that the two would surely dislike each other.
At least, that’s what most people in the office thought. After hearing this, several people nodded in agreement.
“But how can she be called a fake heiress? It’s not like she was switched at birth or lived with the Jing Family since childhood. It feels more like she’s a relative.”
Another colleague disagreed with this statement and immediately refuted: “How is she not? Even if she lived abroad, she was still raised by the Jing Family’s old madam. Let’s not even talk about living conditions, just this point alone makes her like an adopted daughter, doesn’t it?”
“What does that matter? They’ve hardly ever met, how could they be at each other’s throats?”
The fan of Jing Zejun from earlier was a bit dissatisfied. These colleagues were talking as if they had seen it themselves, and she didn’t think Jing Zejun would necessarily clash with that girl, after all, Zejun was so gentle.
Those colleagues thought she was too naive, really believing that everyone in the world got along perfectly.
Come on, this was the Jing Family! The globally top-ranked Hengjing Group, who wouldn’t be tempted? Just the title of Miss Jing could become a dazzling calling card.
As the discussion grew more heated, Little Lu, who had been assigned the task, flipped through the auction magazine, looking at the starting prices of the two necklaces. He spoke casually.
“I think all your talk is pointless. One of these necklaces could buy a house in North River, and you’re here discussing whether the two heiresses are fighting.”
And this was just the starting price…
Hearing his words, several people crowded around again, their pupils dilating slightly as they saw the several zeros in the price.
Even after working at Hengjing for so many years, their perception of money was still constantly being refreshed.
One of the colleagues asked curiously, “Little Lu, didn’t Assistant Chen mention a specific budget earlier? So you…?”
Little Lu smiled slightly, “Not mentioning a budget means that no matter how high the bidding goes, these items must be in General Jing’s office after next Tuesday.”
In other words, there was no budget.
