The Fallen Angel Himari - Chapter 33 Curry Or Hotpot?
Himari made sure to bundle Rei in warm clothes and when she finished Rei looked like walking laundry instead of a girl. Fumiko stood at the doorway and shook her head, feeling bad for poor Rei. “Well then, let’s get going so we can get back home in time.” Rei took off the excess clothes and followed behind Himari like a little duckling seeking protection from its mother. Reiki wore casual clothes grinned mischievously, his eyes radiating with excitement. “Well then let’s get going. The hospital is kinda far so I packed melon pan and some other snacks.” Himari narrowed her eyes at him, “You only packed melon pan, didn’t you?” She eyed him even more suspiciously. His cheeks turned red from embarrassment and shame.
“Well…” He looked away from her guiltily and suddenly his ‘birthmark’ on his hand was more interesting than the conversation. Himari rolled her eyes and started walking. Their feet crunched on the snow as they walked along the sidewalk. Himari looked up at the gray sky and huffed out a cold cloud of air. She wondered how she had been able to stay this long and just enjoy these days with the people she loved. In this peaceful world, she had felt like an intruder. A small snowflake landed on her nose making her snap out of her thoughts. Reiki caught up to her and placed his hand on her shoulder, “Let’s stop and get something warm to eat.”
Himari nodded so they strolled to a nearby coffee shop. Fumiko was back at it again with her green tea and sipped it casually seeming to be at peace. Himari sat down with her and closed her eyes. Her chest rose and fell rhythmically. She listened to the music that was being played and felt calmer than she had ever been before. She slowly opened her eyes and a warm faint smile spread as she saw her siblings chatting together like a real family. She sipped her drink and joined in as well.
…..
After finding her room number at the desk the group headed towards the elevator and Rei’s grip tightened on Himari’s hand. Finally, they all stopped at 508. Himari opened the door for everyone and they walked in. Rei trembled slightly when she saw her mother on her hospital bed. She felt pity but it was instantly ruined by her hollering. Curses not even Himari knew flew towards them like a pissed off hornet. “Damn, woman,” Himari muttered under her breath but not surprisingly it was drowned out by her shrieks. Nobody could stand this insane and frantic woman anymore so Himari stomped up to her and clamped both hands over her mouth, “If you’ll pardon my french but shut the hell up. Stop being dramatic we only came to visit.” She felt the woman under her whimper and she realized she was using too much strength so she let go.
The old hag tried to bite her but Reiki pulled Himari back in time. The woman began to stare at them with hatred and the shrieks started again. A nurse rushed in and they all had to leave. Himari puffed out her cheeks and pouted. ‘I was expecting more action than this! That was boring! We walked here for no reason!’ Although she didn’t say anything it was almost as if her siblings still heard her anyway. Reiki hit her over her head. “You’re terrible. I hope the writer makes a scene where you fall in the mud and animal droppings.” Himari’s face paled at the thought. She shuddered, “Bro don’t curse me!” Rei just shook her head and sighed.
“She isn’t wrong though I needed to talk to her. She turned into a loon when she saw us though.” Rei rolled her eyes at how absurd she acted. Fumiko’s eyebrows scrunched up as she recalled something, “To my knowledge though I think anyone would be hysterical if they were visited by someone who tried to kill them.” The group went silent but Himari spoke up first, “So I’m thinking of making curry for dinner or we can go out and get hotpot.” And everyone quickly forgot that Himari had killed a man and mentally scarred his wife for life as well as taking their daughter. (Slow clapping.)
…….
Himari walked to school with Haru but he could tell she was getting antsy from not feeding. To be honest she was more like a vampire than his servant. Not that he minded though, when she bit him he could feel her honey-smooth lips. His eyes widened when he smelled something irresistible on her. He couldn’t pinpoint where though so he started to awkwardly sniff her. She stiffened and turned red but he didn’t care. He stopped at her hair and took a deep long breath. ‘So this is where it was coming from…’ He couldn’t find anything to tie the sent with as well but it was heavenly to him. People had begun to look at them weirdly making Himari want to find a place to hide. Haru didn’t mind and kept going until Himari stopped him, “Stop! We still have to get to class you asshole!”
Haru shrugged. “I’m not. I’m gonna skip to meet up with some friends. You might catch me around lunch if you’re lucky enough.” He paused and grinned evilly, “Since I know you can’t bear to live without me so your odds might increase.” Himari was a darker red than a tomato at this point “Nonsense! Who’ll miss you?!” She started hitting him but her attacks were light so Haru wasn’t affected by her in the slightest. After what felt like a century of Haru’s teasing Himari and Haru finally arrived at school. Himari looked exhausted while Haru looked refreshed.
In class, Himari kept staring at Haru’s empty seat instead of concentrating on her work which ticked Kodomo off but she didn’t say anything. Himari laid her head down on her desk and wondered to herself, ‘Maybe I should find Haru during lunch…’ Unknowingly she fell asleep but had a weird dream about her and Haru. They were wearing strange clothes and they were acting really intimate with each other. He patted her on her head, “Don’t worry I won’t be gone long. I’ll be back soon.” Himari wrapped him up into her arms, “Love you!” She giggled and he smiled warmly. He kissed her and she returned it.
When Himari woke up she felt the dying urge to kill someone and she knew exactly who. It was already lunchtime so she could kill him without any issues. Every step she took was filled with malice and everyone around her shuddered. ‘Who pissed the queen off?’ When Himari saw Haru he was hanging around three kids who were obviously delinquents. But not the gang kind just the ones you’d expect to have low grades, dye their hair, and skip class to go hang around town. Haru had purple streaks in his hair as well but at this point, Himari was used to it. Haru noticed Himari and waved at her grinning ear to ear.
“Told you! I knew you’d be here!” Himari, however, wasn’t in the mood to deal with his bulls*ht. She grabbed him by the collar and started slapping him. She’d slap him but then backhand him and then slap him again. Her face was a deeper red than earlier and Haru’s friends stared at her in awe. “How dare you?! Stay out of my dreams asshole! I already have enough of you in and out of school! Leave my sleep alone!” Haru stopped her incoming hand and his face turned serious, “So you’re dreaming of me now darling?” He grinned evilly and had a nosebleed. But it might have been from when Himari attacked him. He apparently didn’t learn his lesson either because she slapped him ten times harder than she had been doing earlier.
When she finally cooled down Haru could see stars. She glared at him and puffed out her cheeks. Two of Haru’s friends actually went to comfort him and treat his wounds but one stayed behind and draped his arm over Himari, “He’s so cruel right? I’m Yamato and if you ever need to get away from him and hang out with me for a bit.” He grinned and Himari smiled mischievously. She found his red hair strange though. ‘I like him. I know we can into some trouble together.’ Haru’s eyes sharpened and he started cursing Yamato out “Bastard! Leave my wif-servant alone!” He stood up and pulled Himari out of his grasp and laid his head on top of hers so he could smell her hair. He still glared at Yamato who raised his hands in mock surrender. “Fine fine but the offer still stands.” He winked at Himari and she grinned.
Haru got even more jealous so he tightened his hold on Himari. “Whatever. Himari let me have some of your lunch. I’m starving.” She opened her bento and let him have some. When he took his first bite he shuddered. “It-It’s delicious!” Himari shrugged. “When you’re 8,000 years old you need some kind of hobby.” Haru continued to eat it even though they were supposed to share. All four started stealing Himari’s food and she couldn’t even fight back. In the end, she was left with nothing to eat.
The whole day she ignored Haru, Yamato, Denji, and Akiara. The last two she learned their names through Kiroko, who just gave it to her so she’d go away. The next day Kodomo came into class straight-faced as ever but something was different about her. She slammed her papers on the podium and grinned evilly. “Today we’re gonna train our asses off. Next week will be your first mission.”
