The Fallen One - 11 Chapter 11
Floating in the middle of his consciousness with eyes closed tightly, Hei Long could vaguely hear the churning of gentle water current around him, drifting him everywhere it wants.
Water? he thought. Where am I? What am I doing here? Water bubbles went plop, plop as they burst apart as they touched him, turning into smaller ones and moving up once more to see the light of the day.
He tried to open his eyes but he couldn’t move it as the way he wanted it to move. It was unexpected because it was his body—his very own body—yet, he couldn’t do what’s needed to be done. He was helpless. It was as if the water surrounding him restricted him of such simple movement.
Move! Move! Move it, you damn body! He mentally shouted.
After struggling hard yet obtaining nothing but mental frustration, all of a sudden, he felt lonely, cold, and tired. The fire that was burning inside of him was extinguished in the middle of his struggles. His struggles stopped. He was sure that some kind of magic was at work here. Moments of time had already passed by, but the flow of time felt slow and it seemed a second he spent staying there lasted for more than what it actually was in terms of how he views time.
Gradually, he lost the track of time. And when almost fell asleep in the cuddle of the water, he felt a burning pain from his heart and a flash of golden light erupted out his heart, and the extinguished fire was lit anew—starting from the most center of the heart, the unknown light started to crawl up and down from his heart. The thumping of his heart went Thu-thump!
Gradually it went to his other organs through his pulsing veins, and started to lit and spread more throughout the very pigments of his existence.
Soon, the unmoving Hei Long was glowing with golden light through the cracks of his skins making him looked like a big light bulb.
At that moment, he could feel the power that was hiding and dwelling inside of him, and he knew that it was something powerful beyond comparison. Although it was powerful and mighty to the point that the current him couldn’t face it head-on, he could vaguely feel that it was harmless and it even made him feel comfortable to the point where he felt sleepy and safe. It was as if he was just spending his time with his most beloved family.
But what he didn’t know! The golden light was slowly but surely decaying a seal hidden deep inside his body, making him drowsy and confused.
‘What is this thing? It feels familiar…’
Having covered with a peculiar substance, Hei Long once again tried to move his body. But again, he failed. He put his mind to rest in silence to calm it down.
‘Come on, Hei Long, you can do this. If not, your fate will lie here, no, Lily’s fate will be at stake. Calm down and focus your will!’
After a long time of recovering his mental state, he was no longer able to feel the “love and care” that the golden light had showered him. He was indifferent to everything about him, and everything around him.
He willed his mind and resisted the golden light from taking over his body, which was covered with glittering golden light. A thought ran through him.
‘Stop or be vanquish forever!’
Feeling the hostile air and intention coming from Hei Long, the light gradually came to an abrupt stop, and receded back from his body to his forehead without waiting for another word from Hei Long.
Having all the weird light gone, he “mentally” released a sign of relief.
‘What a headache, and what was that thing? It was so comfortable that it made me feel so uncomfortable!’ he thought while feeling mentally exhausted from all those concentration. He knew that if he’d truly fallen to that kind of state he would have lost something inside of him. Although, he didn’t know what it was. He still didn’t want to lose that something without reasonable reasons. Which was why he’d fought hard to overcome the weird state he was in, and forcefully breaking it apart with his meager will without bother the consequences of using it.
The gushing of all of the golden light from his body to his forehead stopped, and all of the golden was gone. Except for the one on Hei Long’s forehead.
Lying motionless on the sea of nowhere, Hei Long’s finger moved.
