The Gamer’s System - Chapter 237
“How’s everyone’s locations looking?”
“Well it looks pretty similar to the last one Mister Zeke.” Amare began, getting a good look at her area using her [Sight] skill.
“Same. There’s nothing new on these parts.” Gawain followed up immediately as his eyesight was nearly as good as Amare’s.
“Well that’s to be expected form the red areas at the very least. How about the dark ones?”
“The lake area is filled with amphibian type monsters. I think they are largely influenced by the terrain Master Zeke.” Heron replied immediately.
“Ohh, then that’s also similar to my area. The mountains and rock formations gave me some sturdy looking enemies.” Sylph continued.
“I see.” It was at this point that Zeke came to a conclusion.
The black areas were dangerous no only because of the types of monsters leading them but also, because of the terrain influencing their appearance and their fighting style. Something which he was unable to conclude before as, those deployed in the said areas simply thought that this was how the enemies looked like. Focusing only on the number of horns which Zek has indicated to them.
“Well, nothing’s changed. Their horn count is still the same as before so I trust that there would be no issues on the black areas although they have changed.” Zeke said as he closed the [Voice Chat].
At the moment, they were already at the second day of the operation. Zeke, the elites and his allies form Mythos all did their best in order to clean up the remaining areas for two reasons. One was to eliminate the [Chaos Energy] that kept increasing while, they were also doing this in order to get the attention of Pier.
The gamer knew that this god was coming sooner or later. He knew that Pier would not let things go on like this forever. And because he was anticipating this, Zeke already had preventive measures that could be used.
One of which was instantly transporting his comrades out of the situation if they fall below 10% health or if they get a debuffs like a paralyze, a stun, or outright turning them unconscious. This enhancement had been placed on their armors. Something which he never told to the group.
“If they knew about it then they would possibly make a lot of reckless moves.” This was the reason why he never told them.
“Anyway, they’re still performing exceedingly well on the field so I doubt that the function would ever activate. That is, unless he comes.”
With this Zeke transported out of Helios and into the Elven Continent of Elysium. This was his second safest bet as Glade was someone who probably knew all the ins and outs of this Continent. Hence, even if Zeke would yet again be unsuccessful in finding both the god and the king, he would still benefit by gaining more useful information.
Meanwhile the elites continued doing their best in the field. With the statistics presented by Zeke, every member just wanted to get stronger. Remembering the words of the gamer which stated that “you can still grow stronger. And I expect you to.”
Although this rang in everyone’s ears. No member of the elite was as affected as their prideful javelin user. Jumping in the middle of the battlefield as he rained down spears on his enemies.
“Hey how many do you have on your side?”
“Seriously Jake just stop asking petty questions like that and get to work.”
“Well I don’t hear Kaguya complain about it Amare.”
Just like always, the elites were lively in fulfilling their mission. With every new monster they killed, they we gaining even more experience points. In fact, it wouldn’t be long until they reached the ceiling level in Mythos which was [200]. Upon which they were surely getting some great buffs which Zeke knew would be useful for the other fights.
“There are a hundred more monsters on my side than yours.”
“Why did you have to answer his question Gawain?”
“Uhmm…because he was asking? Plus, it’s true though. He could just outright look at our [Minimaps] and see the numbers there. But I guess mister muscle-head forgot about that feature again.”
“Hey!” Jake shouted. Annoyed that he was being belittled.
“Come on we all know how you focus too much on the fights that you forget small details like this.”
“Tsk fine FIIINE! Listen I’m gonna finish at least an hour earlier than all of you.”
“Uhmm.. for what exactly?”
“Just because I’m the greatest!”
Some members of the group laughed at this. This competitive spirit of the javelin wielder has been present since day one. Something which he never hid nor did he try to do so. He prided himself in his physical prowess and always wanted to compete based on this. Not because he knew he would win but because, he knew that there were those worth challenging.
The leader of the elites picked up on this and made a sigh.
“I’m sorry but that’s not gonna happen.”
“That’s right Kaguya tell him!” Amare furthered as she knew that Jake would listen to Kaguya at the very least.
“I’m going to beat you to it.”
“That’s the spirit!” Jake said in reply. Accepting this challenge readily.
“Hahaha! Okay! If Kaguya is joining then count me in!” Mordred furthered. Another upbeat spirit within the group.
“GUUUUYS!” This was the last word uttered by Amare before everyone decided to turn off their [Voice Chat].
With Quinn being gone from the scene, Zeke focused all of his efforts into refining Kaguya as the leader of the group. This was not out of favoritism but because of her natural resonance with [Chaos Energy]. She was shining the most and had the most potential among all of the humans. In fact, the graph he showed on the meeting didn’t even give her justice as Kaguya was growing even faster on that same mission.
“I think this is just the right amount.” Kaguya said as she felt the [Chaos Energy] that enveloped the area.
She only relied on her senses in order to do this as she didn’t even have [Chaos Sight]. Yet even this was not needed as she has learned how to reconstruct the said [Energy] type. All with the help of the equipment given by Zeke.
“Come on Kaguya, you can do this.” She was slowly changing the mixture of the [Chaos Energy] around. This was slow progress but she didn’t mind.
“I bet Jake already killed a bunch of monsters by now.” Kaguya wasn’t getting noticed by the monsters because what she meddled with was the [Chaos Energy] already present. She didn’t add anything to this nor did she need to.
“It’s fine even if they get a number of kills before me. I’ll be catching up in no time.”
Within her mind, she was thinking of a concept that went along the lines of filtering coffee. Grinding down the whole beans first and putting them on a filter in order to extract the juice. Kaguya broke down [Chaos Energy] and took only the essentials to perform her spell. Using only what resonated with her while attracting the residues to the same spell. And, soon enough, she was prepared. Casting without a second thought.
“CHAOS OBLIVION!” The scream was so loud that the monsters heard it. They took notice of her at that moment but couldn’t do anything to stop her as, the large hole of [Oblivion] opened up on the air.
The ground shook so violently that the nearby elites also felt it. In fact, the tremors were even beginning to leave cracks on the ground. Ones where some poor one horned monsters fell to. This move would’ve cleared the area altogether but Kaguya decided to abruptly close it as, she still hasn’t mastered the move and thus, did not want to risk the possible implications of leaving it on for too long.
“That at least cleared out some of the weeds.” There was a smile on her face as she brought out her katana. The same one made out of [Chaos Energy].
This was met by razor sharp projectiles aimed at her. The elite was barely able to dodge as she ducked down, feeling even the air rip from the attack.
“Now that’s a bit dangerous don’t you think?” Kaguya’s question was answered by even more projectiles of the same kind. All aimed at her vitals – making her realize that it was probably the leading monsters which released this.
“Damn they aren’t even letting me cast a spell anymore.” She said as she was slowly getting cornered by the attack.
Without her even realizing it, she actually fell into the rap of the monsters. On the ground where shew as stepping on, spikes came up immediately and synchronizing with this were the projectiles. It was an almost inescapable combination. But in that moment, Kaguya was able to blink a short distance. Using a spell concept that she hasn’t perfected yet.
“Fuck that was too close for comfort.” She commented. Thanking all the heavens for what happened.
Kaguya didn’t let this moment slip. She released ten [Chaos Spheres] all at once. Rapidly hitting the enemies who were at the far end of the battlefield. This cause some delays in the succession of attacks, giving Kaguya time to go into stance.
Everything was being set the same way she ended the fight with the gargoyles. The [Chaos Spheres] were at an even distance from each other and, as soon as Kaguya was ready, they all aligned themselves at the proper positions.
“Oblivion Slash!” In the blink of an eye, Kaguya moved through the battlefield. It was such a quick movement that even her shadow was left behind and, as soon as this reached her, all the bodies of the monsters got cut in half. She then looked at the monsters that remained. Having a triumphant smile on her face.
“Like I said. I don’t have all day.”
