The Gamer’s System - Chapter 243
The only reason why Vask was able to find Zeke’s location was because the gamer was running around the whole continent – popping up from place to place. With that being said, it was a small wonder that the [Chaos Monarch] was able to pick his trail up and follow him.
“How did you even track him down?” Quinn asked. Forced to surrender his body to the [Monarch] that was taking full control.
“Well since you asked nicely, I might as well tell you.” Vask began, continuing to track down Zeke.
“Aside from the fact that he’s definitely in possession of Alexander’s powers, he’s been putting distortions on space.”
“Distortions? You mean through the teleportation?”
“Yup. There is a certain amount of space occupied by any living object. Having both him and whatever creature it was that he was riding jump from place to place gives me a hint on where he is. As, I could sense all these distortions even with my eyes closed.
“You mean your tracking reaches throughout the whole continent?”
“Well duh. How do you think we found Pier even though he already escaped us the first time around?”
Quinn got another valuable information on the skill level of Vask. He knew this person to be truthful with his words at the very least. Even though he was making use of Quinn’s body – Vask wasn’t as bad as he initially wanted himself to look like.
“Anyway, that’s the guy leading your former group, right?” The [Monarch] asked, passing the time by also getting information.
“Yes. So I can guarantee you that he is a hundred percent human.” Quinn said in reply, trying to avoid any kind of conflict with the gamer. Not wanting any harm to come to his generous benefactor.
“Hmm… well that’s not what the tingling sensation all over my body is implying.” Vask said in reply, deciphering the traces left by Zeke and, finally finding him on a single area. One which also seemed to be the gamer’s final destination.
“You don’t seem to be lying so I’ll believe you Quinn. However, I still need to get some answers out of this human that you speak of and, believe me when I say that, I won’t be showing any mercy to him.”
These were the events that led to the face off between the two. The prodigy among the [Chaos Monarchs] and earth’s god of games; bearing the burden of the [Blood King’s Curse].
“Well you’re definitely not him at the very least. I could vividly picture his appearance on my mind. Heck even your posture and the way you carry yourself is way off.”
“You’re referring to Alexander, aren’t you?”
“Oh? So you do know him. This makes things less difficult.” Vask didn’t waste any time. He brough out his weapon immediately as the [Halberd] on Zeke’s hand was making him weary. It was the same weapon after all and, he didn’t want to be hit by that cursed object.
“Actually things are only going to get difficult from this point on. Like I said, I need that boy back.” Zeke said, going into stance.
“So you chose to answer with your weapon are you not even going to ask me anything?”
“Oh trust me when I say that, I can extract all the information I need after I win.” Zeke said in reply. Feeling the immense amount of pressure from his enemy. Even Pier paled in comparison to the amount of [Chaos Energy] being wielded by Vask at that moment.
“Fine by me.” The Monarch said in reply. Also making his stance which seemed to be more lax than Zeke’s.
“Let’s try out just how good you are.”
There was no way around it. Both of them knew that, in order to get the answers they wanted, they needed to defeat their opponent first. This was the one and only path of action that could be taken at the moment. And so, without a moment to lose, the two began their battle.
“Conjure!”
All of Zeke’s summons came out at once. Vask was not the bit impressed of the performance as he made a single snap of his finger. Destroying the space in the middle of the bodies of the [Conjures] and sending them to the void.
“Wrong move.” Zeke said, appearing right next to Vask. His halberd only needing a split second in order to pierce through his enemy. Yet, this attack didn’t connect.
Zeke didn’t hesitate. He wanted the halberd to deal as much damage as possible. But still, the weapon only stopped in front of Vask. There was a n invisible wall preventing his weapon from advancing further.
“That won’t do. If you knew me as well as the previous owner of that skill. You’d chose another course of action.” Vask increased the space in front of him. Preventing anything from coming through as a total of 20,000 kilometers worth of space was added.
“You seem to have a lot of tricks up your sleeves.” Zeke commented as he attempted another strike.
“That’s not even the beginning of it.” Vask said in reply; making another snap of his fingers and pulling Zeke away from him.
Vask distorted space over and over again. Attacking Zeke whose body was forced to move at different directions. All of which ended on a spot where the Monarch would suddenly appear.
“Above you.”
“I’m here.”
“To your left.”
As if to taunt his enemy even further, Vask was giving Zeke hints on where he would appear. However, this tactic proved to be ineffective to Zeke who had [Gamer’s Mind] activated 24/7. Preventing any sort of negative effects to affect his mind.
Still, this didn’t erase the fact that, Zeke couldn’t keep up. In fact, Vask got easily bored with this and decided to seriously attack with his sword. However, Zeke didn’t allow things to just go as his opponent pleased.
The gamer activated [Overdrive] each and every time. Barely dodging by moving his halberd to a direction that weaved the monarch’s sword just a little bit.
“Well you could at least fight. I’d give you that.” Vask decided to stop with the barrage as there was no point to it anymore.
Zeke tried attacking during this interval but, Vask had invisible walls set up all around the battlefield. These had the same property as the barrier which Zeke set on top of his body. And since Zeke couldn’t see this, his rhythm and pacing was greatly affected.
“Let’s see how long you could last against this.” Vask continued by summoning multiple black holes. Each of which had a different amount of force to it. Either pulling or pushing Zeke while not affecting Vask himself.
He owned the whole territory and, in not less than twenty minutes into the fight, the Monarch already had a huge advantage over the gamer.
“This is why I should’ve practiced more on duel type fights.” Zeke thought to himself, still on the defensive as he couldn’t think of a way to win.
His conjures would only be eaten up by the black holes. If this happened, they wouldn’t be able to activate their skills as, their hp would instantly drop to zero. At the same time, they would be disabled. Both of which would bring no benefit for the gamer.
“This is definitely on the same level as that Monarch on the [Memory Piece].” Zeke thought as he tried analyzing the terrain.
This was only in vain however as Vask made another snap of his fingers. Changing the position of the black holes. With one almost sucking up Zeke that barely escaped by using [Shadow Dive].
“You need to do better than that if you want me to get serious.” Vask taunted further. Releasing slash attacks with his blade.
Zeke saw the attack coming from a mile away. But this same attack suddenly sped up – grazing Zeke who was not able to properly respond. This was followed by more attacks of the same nature. Some suddenly stopped in place. Others curved. Then there were those that’d suddenly vanish – only to reappear a second before hitting the gamer.
“I’m a bit disappointed actually. If this is all you could do then you don’t even measure to a fraction of his powers.” Vask furthered – snapping his fingers once again and changing the position of the black holes.
“I could do this all day and you’d never figure out how to win.” The Monarch furthered. Creating more slash attacks which Zeke did his best to avoid.
With the release of [Chaos Energy] produced by the [Chaos Plants], Vask was also able to absorb enough to fill his powers. In fact, there was even more lying around and he intended to make use of all this. Knowing that the [Blood King] is incapable of using both chaos and order.
“You seem to be pretty confident on your skills but all of that means nothing when faced with absolute power.” Vask continued – changing the position of the black holes again. And, in the blink of an eye, Zeke disappeared from his sight.
Multiple magic circles appeared in the air. Vask noticed this immediately but there was no way for him to didge as Zeke casted:
“Blaze of the Fire God!”
The whole place lighted up in the bright yellow color of the sun. The flames spread on the ground below. Dispersing as this burnt everything in sight. But such a trick would not work on Zeke’s enemy – a fact that the gamer knew.
“There’s no such thing as absolute power. If there was, then you wouldn’t have died right?” Zeke mentioned. Landing on the ground and waiting for his enemy who emerged out of the smoke.
“You really do know how to run that mouth of yours do you?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m just stating facts.” The gamer said in reply as he threw his halberd at the Monarch.
