The Gamer’s System - Chapter 275
On that day, every continent heard the continuous roaring of the skies. It was as if there were drums as massive as mountains that were continually getting hit; in a strange yet synchronized rhythm.
Although things started off with a more [Chaotic] rumbling. One which was cause by Pier’s antics and the fights dating back to the gods and goddesses who fought him. Things were nevertheless better off at that moment. There were still rumblings and, the citizens of Mythos were still on edge but, they felt that this came from a different source. One which wasn’t any cause for fear or panic.
It was a thought that was as true as it could get. Because the ones causing it were Zeke and the elites. Fighting, literally, to their deaths.
As their mentor, teacher, and also their ally, Zeke was nothing but proud at what the elites achieved. He didn’t think it would be possible that he would feel this way towards the achievement of other people but he did.
He was genuinely enjoying the fact that the same humans he took care of ever since they arrived in Mythos were able to reach such great lengths all on their own.
“Oblivion!” Both Quinn and Kaguya casted this, creating a cube-like version of the skill which caught Zeke in the middle. And since it was a spell that ate up anything that came too close, the four sides of the skill also began eating through themselves – crushing into a small ball as the two elites ordered:
“Compress!”
Soon enough, nothing was left but a black ball. One which continued shrinking down to the size of a marble until it disappeared completely.
“D-dib we accidentally win?” Jake asked, not sure what to make of the moment and of the hype that began dwindling.
They genuinely thought that Zeke was dead as there were no traces of the gamer left. However, they were no fools. They knew just how strong Zeke was and, what the gamer was capable of.
That is why they tried to sense him as much as they could. Soon enough they felt a strong amount of mana coming from the heavens. Amare tried to focus her sight skill on the location and, true enough, she was able to see past the [Cloud of Dreams] which the gamer seemingly set up.
Past it was still blurry to Amare. Yet she was sure of one thing. That is, there were ten [Magic Circles] aimed directly at them.
“This is bad! Everyone take cover!” It was the least that Amare could order as the spell was fired by Zeke.
As the blast came down, multiple barriers and other defensive mechanisms were being casted. This was all over the place and Quinn knew that the fight could very well end at that moment because of this.
That is why Quinn dashed towards the point of contact. Focusing on his blade as he casted:
“Event Horizon!”
Quinn was able to retain some skills owned by Vask. Despite the Monarch getting killed and disappearing, these were already imprinted on Quinn. Making it possible for him to imitate the move using mana instead of Chaos Energy.
“Of course he’d pick something up from that Monarch.” Were the words running through Zeke’s head as Mirio and Curio closed in on him. Forcing the gamer to stay put as Mirio activated [Ring] and layering it up with Quinn’s own activation of the skill.
“I knew you would be the most problematic member.” Zeke thought as he looked at Quinn who was already donning his [Avarice Form].
Among the elites, it was Quinn who was the most versatile. If likened to a chess game, Quinn would be a queen piece. Able to move at almost all directions.
This made the horizons binding down the strategy of the elites to widen even more. Amare was restricted by a lot of things before but, with Quinn adding to the picture, it allowed more combinations of moves to be of use in the fights.
With two [Rings] being activated and, with the enhancement of Lizzie, all members of the elites were able to enter through. Buffing themselves up with the attribute increase while decreasing the same percentage for Zeke.
“If you thought that we were some easy target or prey, then you have another thing coming.” Quinn mentioned, getting a smile form the gamer as their combination of attacks continued.
Zilg began this by throwing in bombs at point blank range. The explosions came soon after which shocked Zeke even more. At first he though that these would only serve as decoys or a way to misdirect him. But they were real bombs and, Zilg was truly caught up with the attack.
“That was a bit reckless of them.” Were the words running on his head as the [Trap Expert] emerged with just enough damage. Shattering a barrier that was placed on top of his body.
“Limitless Blessings!” It was Lizzie’s turn to impress Zeke that time around. Finally showing the unique skill which her secondary job class had.
This allowed her to enhance anything twice instead of once and, whatever enhancement she placed on others would also be applied on her in a lesser degree. Meaning, at that moment, she almost as strong as Quinn.
“We’re going to kill you with all we’ve got!” She shouted as she faced Zeke head on.
With the notification telling them that, they would be returned to earth as soon as they died, there were no restrictions to the moves which the elites could use anymore. All of their attacks were set to the maximum, disregarding all safety in order to maximize the amount of damage they could deal.
And it was also for this reason that they became even fiercer opponents for Zeke. In the current state they were in, even the healers and defenders would attack. Meaning there were limitless possibilities to how the combinations could be done and, Zeke could do nothing but be on the receiving end.
As soon as Lizzie backed off, another member of the group replaced her. It was Curio who used [Flash Rush]. Combining it with his clones that turned into gigantic shurikens.
With the clones being imbued with the same skill, they flew up to Zeke in the speed of light. The gamer was barely able to dodge but this was not the end of it as, the shurikens turned back to clones of Curio who attempted the same attack.
“Smart. I didn’t think it could be applied that way.” Was the thought running through Zeke’s head as he dodged the shurikens again. Yet one of the blades was able to make contact with him. Wounding him on the side of his waist.
Spears flew towards him from the opposite direction, provided for by Jake. The gamer wasn’t able to dodge all of these in time, finally getting one solid hit to his knee. With the spearhead burying inside the gamer’s flesh.
He didn’t mind this and continued fighting them. Facing the defenders next. They were the toughest members of the group and, among them was Mordred who had explosive damage. All of the attacks the other defenders made was in order to set things up for Mordred. Landing blow after blow which Zeke tried to block with all his might until, one finally landed on his stomach.
They retreated immediately, Giving way for all the projectiles which were already aimed and charged for that interval.
Without any moment to lose, these were rapidly fired on the gamer. And even the melee fighters threw in some projectile spells which they knew.
This recreated the black mass that was formed by multiple skills merging together at one point. Zeke was inevitably caught in it because there was no other way outside the [Ring] and, Amare was also weary of any use of [Cloud of Dreams].
The orb of darkness continued spiraling but, the group was still in their battling poisons. The [Rings] were still active after all. Indicating that their enemy was still alive. And he was.
The skill was forced to dwindle, smaller rand smaller. Until it was simply and orb in the middle of Zeke’s hands. He looked worn out and strands of his hair were all over his face. So before the fight resumed, he brushed all of it back into place using his hands.
“I thought you were going to kill us mister Zeke. You don’t look the very least convincing at this moment.” Quinn said, doing the one thing which every other elite has learned to avoid ever since the [Infernal] incident. That is, being rude to the gamer.
Yet Zeke didn’t say a word to them. He knew that if he said something, they might relax a bit and that would ruin the fighting mood. Instead, he finally decided to go all out on them. Activating the single spell which he was holding back against the elites.
A burst of crimson red mana came out of Zeke. Gravity seemed to have increased at that moment but they had no intention of letting Zeke finish what it was that he trying to perform.
They tried attacking and, through it all, Zeke didn’t even dodge. In fact he began healing through the wounds, even with Red casting [Reverse Heal] on him. And, with his eyes turning the same color as the mana he emitted, the gamer casted:
“Forced Activation: Ultimate Berserker.”
