The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 31
Sean took the lead and began running.
The Kobolds tailed behind him.
Sean began to slow down while the Kobolds started to pick up speed.
Old or young, the Kobolds overtook Sean and charged forward.
Not sparing a second, Sean continued blowing the Kobold War Horn.
Fury raged, blood boiled, weapons swung, Kobolds roared.
Several hundred Kobolds charged into Murloc Shallow.
Yes, the Kobolds could not compare to the Murlocs in terms of individual strength.
Yes, the Kobolds could not compare to the Murlocs in terms of battle classes.
Yes, the Kobolds could not compare to the Murlocs in terms of numbers.
Yes, the Kobolds could not compare to the Murlocs in anything.
Nevertheless, the Kobolds, right there and then, had enough unity, courage, rage, and hot-bloodedness.
Threads of several hundreds bunched together were stronger than a steel wire.
The Kobolds were a steel wire ready to strangle all the Murlocs to death.
By the time Sean arrived at Murloc Shallow, huffing and puffing, his jaw dropped wide open at the horrifying sight of Murloc Shallow.
What were the right words to describe?
Murloc Shallow, a sea of blood!
Fresh blood dyed the shores of Murloc Shallow red. The Kobolds had bravely charged ahead, and now many had been frozen by Frostbolts and Frost Novas, killed by Backstabs and Sinister Strikes, while others had been crushed to pieces.
However, the Murlocs had suffered worse.
Due to the ambush, the Murlocs had not built a defensive line, preventing them from executing an effective retaliation.
The Murlocs had been scattered by the Kobolds. Group after group was assaulted, leaving even the Coldlight Seers powerless to intervene.
In fact, several Coldlight Seers had met their end.
This was a perfect example of a lose-lose situation.
By the time the Murloc massacre was complete, there were only a dozen or so Kobolds left. Beaten black and blue, they were heroes of the bloody battlefield.
Even Sean could not help but cheer for them.
Nevertheless, it was not the time to cheer.
Though the Murlocs nearby may have been slaughtered, other Murlocs a short distance away had finally come to the senses and were fast approaching.
How could the surviving dozen or so Kobolds defend against these vicious Murlocs? They were soon wiped out.
Sean was disappointed.
So calling upon an army of Kobolds was not enough to annihilate the Murlocs?
Just then, crabs towering tens of centimeters crawled out from the seabed and charged towards the Murlocs at great speeds.
Their sturdy claws crushed the Murlocs into pulp.
As their shells had high Water Elemental Resistance, they were able to resist the Coldlight Oracle and Grimscale Oracle’s Ice Elemental Spells.
They were the legendary Hungry Crabs, natural enemies of the Murlocs!
“So this is the real aid for clearing Murloc Shallow!” Flabbergasted, Sean heaved a deep sigh.
Of course, the Kobolds brought by Sean had played a huge role. Had the Kobolds not caused a blood bath by killing a large number of Murlocs, there would not have been enough Murloc blood to draw out this many Hungry Crabs. Here was the true strategy for completing Murloc Shallow.
The Murlocs had met their true enemy.
It took less than half an hour for the Murlocs to be completely wiped out by the Hungry Crabs.
However, this was not the finale.
A kilometer away, a Coldlight Seer that had managed to slip away stood above something similar to an altar. It was chanting an ancient incantation.
A loud growl from the depths of the sea followed suit, prompting Sean to lift his head and shift his gaze.
Far away, far off the coast, a giant wave rushed over. A huge, blue and red monster, rode the wave with a terrifying trident in its hand.
It had a huge build, firm muscles, tough skin, and a thick tail.
“Murloc Defender!”
Sean’s eyes popped wide open.
He used Appraisal Sight on the Murloc Defender but came back empty. This horrifying Murloc Defender surpassed Class Level 6. Surely, its Combat Level was high.
Sean could not estimate it.
He turned to make a run for it.
Just then, Murloc Shallow’s Dungeon Quest finally showed up.
[Immediate Quest: Skoda the Murloc Defender’s Fury!]
[A Coldlight Seer has summoned Murloc Shallow’s defender and master, Skoda the Murloc Defender. This horrifying Naga Warrior was once Lady Vashj’s personal bodyguard. Although it was ousted by a new Murloc Defender in a battle of survival of the fittest, it still possesses the ability to bring many beings to shame. Defeat it, kill it, prove yourself!]
[Quest Reward: Gather]
[Note: With Gather in possession, you’ll gain the ability to collect spoils from enemies killed.]
Sean stopped in his tracks and turned around to face the intimidating Murloc Defender.
“Murloc Defender? You think you’re all that? I’m not afraid of you!”
What was a natural enemy?
A natural enemy ignored its opponent’s strength. The desire to kill was in its blood, and the difference in size between it and its opponent was of no consequence.
Hungry Crabs were the Murlocs’ natural enemy.
One look at the Murlocs, and the Hungry Crabs went on a killing spree. It did not matter whether the Murlocs were larger or outnumbered them.
They were successful in annihilating the Murlocs.
Their attention was now drawn to the escaped Coldlight Seer, as well as Skoda the Murloc Defender riding on the wave.
Despite how powerful the Coldlight Seer was, it was still a Murloc.
The Murloc Defender may be a Murloc in name, but, in truth, it was a Naga.
Nonetheless, the Murloc Defender and the Murlocs shared a tiny resemblance in appearance. Needless to say, it had been summoned by the Coldlight Seer.
So, of course, the Hungry Crabs considered themselves to be a natural enemy of the Murloc Defender.
It did not matter whether the Murloc Defender was huge, strong, or terrifying.
As a natural enemy of the Hungry Crabs, they had no cause for fear.
The Hungry Crabs charged towards the Murloc Defender, killing the Magic-exhausted Coldlight Seer along the way.
Imagine an army of ants marching towards you.
Isn’t it funny?
They would all be crushed with a single stomp.
However, what if it was an endless stream of ants?
What if these ants were not your average ants but giant ants that could kill an elephant?
Although the Murloc Defender was many times more powerful than an elephant, the Hungry Crabs were countless times more powerful than ants.
That said, the Murloc Defender had no fear.
Because it would not permit itself to fail again.
Ever since it was defeated by that d*mned Naga Warrior and stripped of its position, Skoda could no longer stand alongside the great goddess, Lady Vashj. His strength had dropped by several levels and the once proud Naga Warrior was now an Adventurer.
Nevertheless, He was still a Murloc Defender. Murloc Shallow was its territory and it would not allow anyone to enter!
