The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 32
Skoda the Murloc Defender made a move.
The giant wave churning under its tail rushed from behind the Murloc Defender, washing the army of Hungry Crabs into the sea.
The Hungry Crabs managed to survive due to their natural connection to water, but the heavy impact from the giant wave knocked them unconscious and inflicted internal injuries.
At the swing of the Murloc Defender’s trident, the wave, drawn by a mysterious power, formed a large maelstrom, eliminating the Hungry Crabs within.
However, there were far too many Hungry Crabs and there was a limit to the Murloc Defender’s Mana.
The casting of Spells again and again led to the Murloc Defender’s Mana bottoming out.
As a result, the Murloc Defender began to engage in hand-to-hand combat with the Hungry Crabs.
Although it was thick skinned, it was soon beaten black and blue.
Although beaten black and blue, it remained valiant in battle.
Although it was valiant in battle, its injuries grew severe.
Although its injuries were severe, it managed to defend against the Hungry Crabs’ attack.
The Hungry Crabs in this region were limited in number, after all.
Skoda the Murloc Defender finally defended its honor and did not succumb to another defeat.
It may be weary, it may be riddled with scars, it may have run out of Mana, it may not be able to withstand another blow, but it was victorious.
Skoda could finally return to the depths of the sea and treat the pain on its body and heart.
Unfortunately, a 10-second Spell came its way.
“Swoosh!”
It was a Fireball, though it was not significant and could be easily put out by a single wave of the Murloc Defender’s arm.
However, the Murloc Defender currently had lacerated flesh, was severely mutilated, and had exhausted its Mana, which meant it was incapable of fighting back.
The Fireball struck the Murloc Defender, roasting its flesh like a barbecue.
It did not stop there.
Immediately after casting the Fireball, Sean started firing Arcane Missiles.
One after another Arcane Missiles struck the Murloc Defender in the same spot on its chest. The extended attack caused sharp pain to its chest, until finally, it could feel no more.
The Murloc Defender opened its mouth in an attempt to speak but no words came out.
The Murloc Defender went down with a bang.
In the end, the Murloc Defender had not protected its honor, but to fall in battle was still a worthy death. It managed to release itself from the shadows of defeat as it departed this life. Death had cleaned out all existing restraints and commitments.
Sean let out a long sigh.
Having exhausted his Mana and strength in a short span of time, Sean fell back onto the ground and took a break for 5 minutes.
Out of the three-hour time slot, there was only half an hour left on the clock. Sean had no time to waste.
It was then that Sean heard a melodious prompt.
[Ding!]
[Immediate Quest: Skoda the Murloc Defender’s Fury (Completed)]
[Reward: Gather]
[Note: Only applicable in the Dungeon.]
A piece of information appeared in Sean’s mind.
Sean swiftly walked towards Murloc Shallow.
The thousands of corpses belonging to the Murlocs, Kobolds, Hungry Crabs, and Skoda the Murloc Defender had left a significant amount of wealth for Sean.
It was impossible for Sean to collect them all. Hence, he picked the most important ones to gather.
Skoda the Murloc Defender was the first.
This Class Level 6 Naga Warrior had dropped many great items for Sean.
[Intact Naga Hide x 1, Naga Claws x 2, Intact Naga Scale x 120, Trident x 1, Murloc Defender Charm x 1]
Naga Hide could be made into top quality leather armor, Naga Claws could be used to make claw-like fist weapons while Naga Scales would make a good top quality scale armor.
Most importantly were the two pieces of Equipment.
[Skoda’s Trident, Green Quality, Uncommon Equipment. Strength +10.]
[Fortified Magic: Wave Maelstrom. Summons huge waves from the Elemental Plane of Water to form a high velocity maelstrom that will kill enemies.]
[Murloc Defender Charm, Green Quality, Uncommon Equipment. All Stats +1.]
Sean was able to equip the Murloc Defender Charm but had no use for the Murloc Defender’s Glory, albeit he could trade it in for a large sum of Gold Coins.
Sean seemed to regain his spirits and strength after putting on the Murloc Defender’s Charm. Thus, he continued to loot.
Sean’s first targets were the Casters such as the Coldlight Seers, Coldlight Oracles, Grimscale Oracles, and Kobold Shamans. He ended up with a haul of 15 White Common staves and a Green Uncommon staff.
Apart from these, he collected a few tattered and dirty robes.
Sean then turned his attention to the battle classes of the Kobolds and the Murlocs before gathering from the larger-sized Hungry Crabs. He obtained many Murloc Scales, candles, iron weapons, shells, pearls, gold ore, and some random gems from the looting.
Finally, Sean transported 3 chests from the Murloc camp and made it to the spawn point with a few minutes to spare. He left Murloc Shallow.
Lying on a soft bed in a room on the second floor in Lion’s Pride Inn, Sean was grinning from ear to ear.
The journey to Murloc Shallow may have been a risky and difficult one but Sean thought the final rewards were well worth the risk. The trip left nothing to be desired!
Besides the top quality materials and two pieces of Green Equipment retrieved from Skoda the Murloc Defender, he was in possession of plenty of other materials and pieces of Equipment that he had collected from the Murlocs, Kobolds, and Hungry Crabs. Additionally, there were the 3 chests.
These 3 chests were not some Beginner’s Crates from the Spatial Garrison but actual chests. They were storage chests gathered by the Murlocs from sunken ships in Murloc Shallow. Inside was treasure recovered by the Murlocs.
Sean rubbed his hands and began the comfortable job of opening chests and looting Equipment.
The first chest was built with solid wood. There were no signs of water damage despite being submerged in water for several years. The material, comparable to a thousand-year agarwood boasted a rich sense of antiquity and was paired with an ancient metal lock, though there was no key.
Sean took out a worn-out hammer obtained from the Kobolds and pounded the lock, breaking it.
He opened the chest and was blinded by shimmering gold, silver, and copper…
It was a whole chest of Gold, Silver, and Copper Coins!
The varying designs of these coins dated their origins to different kingdoms, races, and time periods. Sean even spotted a familiar pattern. It was a Gold Coin from the Empire of Arathor!
Sean buried his hands inside the chest, grabbed a hold of a bunch of coins, and lifted them up. The interplay of three different twinkles blinded him.
“Haha, I’m rich, I’m rich!”
Sean laughed out loud as he counted the money.
One coin, two coins, three coins…
It was a total of 42 Gold Coins, 365 Silver Coins, and 2475 Copper Coins!
Indeed it was a substantial sum but Sean still felt he was a poor wretch at the thought of Gryan Stoutmantle spending 800 Gold Coins on Lightforge Armor.
The second chest was next.
This was a chest made out of iron. The fine metal prevented it from rusting while retaining its exquisite design and alloy lock. It was a work of art.
He was welcomed by the gentle glow of various colors in the second chest. Within the glow were fine and round pearls.
Sean laughed even louder.
“Hahaha, I hit the jackpot! I really hit the jackpot!”
The chest of pearls was worth way more than the chest of coins!
Amongst the multicolored pearls, the Black Pearls, Silver Pearls, Gold Pearls in particular were more expensive than regular pearls. These were the finest of the fine and popular among women and Jewelcrafters.
Sean could envision sacks of Gold Coins flying towards him.
With these two chests a success, Sean was looking forward to the third chest.
Nervous and anxious, he turned his gaze to the third chest.
