The Gatekeeper - Chapter 11 The Situation
Glynd sat in a dark space hunched in thought, it had only been 30 minutes since they found the wounded boy.
‘Upsilon how does this world even work?’ Glynd asked his robot-like companion
‘This “world” is part of me, it was constructed in ordered to help maintain and heal the host’s mind.’
a metallic voice answered ‘This world opens up in a time of mental distress to the host’
‘Does that mean that I am in distress right now,’ Glynd laughed
‘Not at the current moment, but my scans showed signs of mental distress 5 hours ago.’ the boy’s face twisted into a snare ‘The mind palace is designed to optimize your mental well being…your time here is slowed down compared to the world outside.’ the constructs voice held no tenderness ‘an example of this would be two years ago.’
‘Uh…two years Upsilon,’ the hunched boy sighed ‘it’s been two years since you took me away from earth.” sadness poured out of the boy. ‘Why did you trap me?’
‘I do not understand?’ a cold voice said back to the boy.

‘What don’t you understand, I was only eight years old and you didn’t care!’ the boy screamed ‘I’ll never get to see my friends or family again.’
‘I do not understand, your family is located 192 meters away.’ the cold voice of the construct sounded back to the boy. ‘
‘I don’t mean them…’ the boy hushed ‘anyways do you have any ideas what happened to the boy?’ Glynd asked and at that moment a blue rectangular screen spread in front of him, the screen was paused at a familiar woman with hair like the color of ash, she had a gentle-looking face. ‘what’s this?’ Glynd asked.
‘This is a recording of what happened 10 seconds ago in the outside world.’ the construct reported ‘it holds data regarding the well being of the injured boy.’
‘Play it.’ the boy said as he sat straight up, the image of the woman whirred into movement.
“You both did well to bring me to the boy, he will be fine.” the woman said as she wiped her bloodied hand on a rag. The blonde boys back seemed to relax after the boy’s health was confirmed.
“Sigmund…Glyndwall there something that needs explaining…” Sigmund’s mother said as a serious look came on her face “But first you mustn’t tell anybody of this boys mishap, I know both of you are mature enough to understand”
“What do you mean,” Sigmund questioned his mother, his face showing a tint of worry.
Sigmund’s mother’s face frowned “Do you remember what happened two days ago, this concerns them, I can’t tell you about them at this moment but…you will learn of them when we get to Eintreet town.” Sigmund’s face turned pale “Until then Sigmund Glynd, do not mention this to nobody if you do…this could mean death to us.” her face showing a tinge of concern and fierceness.
The recording stopped there and the blue screen diapered into the darkness.
‘Number 20, would you like to know anything else?’ Upsilon asked the quiet boy.
‘Upsilon do you record everything?” Glynd asked the construct as he rose up from his sitting position.
‘No I do not record everything.’ Upsilon reported, the boy’s face showed surprise as if he didn’t expect this answer.
‘Then who does?” Glnd asked
‘I am unable to answer?’ Upsilon responded, Glynd didn’t have any reason to doubt Upsilonafter all this companion of his didn’t to lie to him. ‘If Upsilon didn’t have an answer it would always tell him’ Glynd thought.
‘Why are you unable to answer?’ Glynd question
‘It is not time yet?’ Upsilon answer defeated the boy’s hopeful face.
‘Then when will it be time?’
‘Two days, until all basic knowledge of this world is revealed.’ Upsilons answered ‘Then on the preceding bi-lunar eclipse, on the announcement of the tournament will you be able to purchase any information you would like.’
‘What did you just say, tournament?’ a look of confusion plastered onto Glynds face. ‘what do you mean by tournament?’
