The Gatekeeper - Chapter 21 At The Gate
The morning sun broke the clouds as the town glowed in hues of warm tones waking up the townsfolks along. Hums of cars and yelling arose with the sun, the day had begun. The townfolks in Eintritt town dressed in older clothes like those out of old pictures of centuries past. At the center of the town, a large building proudly stood its tall pillars and glass roofs shining like jewels. The Church the very center of culture and progression.
“Little boy, what brings ya here,” a man said twisting his beard “You best not be an orphan, we already got enough here.” the man continued as he took a long huff of his pipe. His face was like a prune wrinkled and rudy, his eyes remained closed and his mouth and eyebrows the definition of expression.
“Nope, Just here for sightseeing.” A boy with brown hair and rounded glassed replied
“A smart mouth you got there,” a puff of smoke hit the boys face as man the spoke, “Now what brings you here boy?”
“I need a place to stay for a while.” the boy replied as he pulled out a banknote from his pocket
“Ahh, a Child’s Home,” the man rubbed his chin as he hunched closer to the boy snatching the banknote from his hands “You won’t be needing this.” He said stuffing his pocket with the banknote.
“Perfect.” The boy smiled
“What’s ya name and age,” the man growled, ” I don’t got all day now.”
“Judas age nine.” The boy smiled
The man looked the boy up and down, sizing him up as if to see he was worth something.
“The names Iroh,” the old man puffed “You best not wear it down,” Iroh grunted as he knocked the boys head “Whens you turning ten?” Iroh continued as he lead the boy through the gates.
“In a week,” Judas replied while counting his fingers “Yep a week from now.” he continued his face twinkling with excitement
“Well ain’t that neat” Iroh looked at the boy “Magic is pretty exitin, I remember the days when it wasn’t.” Iroh shook his head reminiscing of olden days
“Watcha mean.” Judas’s eyes glowed questioning the man “Who wouldn’t like magic? I like it.”
Iroh continued walking ignoring the boy’s question “A thing to remember here is to be respectful to the church folk.” The man said as he stopped in front of a tall looking building “They’re the people with the robes.”
“Alright, sir” Judas saluted “You bet I will.”
“That’s good,” Iroh said again taking a long huff of his pipe “Here are ya keys,” Iroh continued while tossing the keys at the boy “I best be going you ya know things need to be done and I got no time.”
Judas looked down at the keys ready to open the doors but before he did he turned around to bid farewell to the man that had helped him but the man was nowhere to be seen.
“Thank you mister Iroh.” Judas smiled as he continued to open the doors to the tall brick building.

+It’s been months since I last saw you guys, I won’t lie to you it’s been hard living by myself for the first couple of weeks but it was worth it. Finally, after three months I broke through the gates and I’m finally an Acolyte. You guys I cant wait to see you.+
Sincerely Gother
Gother stood up from his desk looking at the letter in his hand, his hand playing with the letter as he walked straight to the window. Looking once more at the paper Gother flung the letter straight out of his window into the open sky. Like flashing light the letter glowed in a fiery blaze and shot towards the distance. With that finished, Gother fell down on his bed a look of contentment flooding his face.
“Azur how many days till I’ll be able to go down?” asked a somewhat sleepy youth
“You have 21 days left.” A cold female voice replied, “But looking at your current level you will not.” the voice continued holding in a laugh.
“You know It took me 3 months to become an Acolyte,” Gother huffed “I’m like a genius, unlike you.”
“Keep telling yourself that.” Azure voice deflected “At least I’m not fighting a construct.” Azure jabbed.
“You know what….” Gother said as he sat back up “You’re right” with a huff Gother tapped the ring in his finger and with blinding light disappeared.
“Man did he get dumb.” Azure chortled
“Little Azure why are being like this?” A whispering voice sounded “You know you gotta take care of your little junior.” The voice continued as a golden robed figure appeared in the room “It won’t be that long, just a couple more years.”
“Okay old man.” Azur’s voices trailed off
“Good,” The robed figure said as he disappeared “I don’t have all day so take care.” the voice trailed off in a whisper.
