The General Who Hates Me - 350 Triads
At Military Headquarter
“So those terrorists are from one of the triads?” asked Field Marshal Chan. He was in a very confidential meeting with his trusted officers where Torin and Drey led the team.
“Yes Sir.” confirmed Torin. The triads were a transnational criminal organization that was based in different countries. There were three major organizations and lately they were having war with each other, killing each other and the worst were framing each other for crimes done by others.
Field Marshal Chan already heard about the triads and one of the organizations was a family close to him. It was John’s family from Country V.
Field Marshal Chan looked at one of his men and instructed, “I need John. Contact him.” John was in an isolated area at that moment with his adopted daughter Mara. Drey showed Field Marshal Chan the tattoo roaming around their country. The mark was a cyclone and flustered Field Marshal Chan.
“No way,” he mumbled because that was the symbol of the Quan Clan. John had the same mark. He cursed because there was a riot right now at Country N, John’s country, so he wouldn’t be able to contact John’s father. Only John could make contact with his group. There must be a mistake. He was sure of it because the Quan Clan would not dare harm innocent people, John’s Family was not like that.
If he was not mistaken, it was probably either Tai or Yue Clan’s doing, framing the Quan Clan for this terrorist attack.
“Sir… Also, you need to know something.” Torin added and briefed the Field Marshal Chan with Zach’s advancement in the mission.
His face crumpled and he whispered, “My daughter will kill me if she finds out.” Then he recalled his dinner with his daughter the next day. Keira had suddenly called, saying she would visit them at the mansion for dinner.
Field Marshal Chan’s face crumpled more. His daughter was probably aware of everything already and no wonder he had received the sudden notice for that dinner.
……
At Liu Group Building
Zach stayed in his office the past few days. He even did not care about going to his home like before, spending more time in the office than his home. He actually pretended in falling for Megan’s trap as much as he could, but whenever he felt Megan was trying to touch him in his sleep, he would move to distract her. ‘Two more days,’ he mused while he acted how he should react with the drug Megan was giving him.
His thoughts wandered on how he got suspicious of Megan and investigated her. When Keira complained to him about his new secretary, when the first incident took place, where Megan said she could not contact his wife, Zach instinctively had a background check for her and he found a loophole in her identification. Call it his military instinct as a ex General or the ability to smell criminals, he dug deeper in her profile, because their Human Resource team would definitely not notice it like how he did.
He tasked his men to check the authenticity of her records and found that everything was fabricated. That instant, Zach became more proactive and observed Megan carefully to the point that he did not drink the first tea she offered him.
He immediately called for Cobra that day to have that tea tested and as he suspected, it was drugged. His wife’s gut feeling was often… No… Keira was always right.
There was a hypnotic drug added in the tea and according to the laboratory analysis’ result, the drug’s main effect on the person ingesting it, was to erase the memory and replace it with only what the person by his side would often input in his mind, like what Megan was doing now.
“I am your wife. Megan Quin is your wife. We’ve been married for two years now. You are from country N…” Megan mumbled in Zach’s ear once again.
Zach wished he could zip her mouth up as soon as possible because she was like a bee buzzing the same details in his ears for days now whenever he was supposed to pass out.
How he missed his wife already but this mission was very important. He was the key in discovering the hideout of the terrorists because Megan would bring him there in two days time to be with her, with his changed memory, as her husband.
Megan was a part of the organization among the triads but it was still unclear who among those triads was the real terrorist because of the framing cases that circulated that organization.
Zach cursed when he felt Megan’s hands on his cheek. ‘What the heck!’ he wanted to open his eyes immediately but there was still no warning from his watch. He was wearing a military watch that would vibrate when it was about time that he should open his eyes.
He moved a bit so Megan would stop touching him.
To be honest, he could not remember Megan at all. Torin said that Megan must be one of his admirers when they went to country N to save their own people, there for a vacation, who were abducted and caught up in the riots in the country.
Yes, he recalled that he helped a lot of people there during those times, especially women who were about to be raped and killed mercilessly by bandits.
If not for a lot of innocent people he could possibly save, he would not bother to act like this and stay with Megan instead of his dear wife. He wondered if Cobra managed to do his job without Keira bothering his friend a lot.
Zach cursed when he could almost feel Megan’s breath and smell her obnoxious scent on his face. As soon as his watch vibrated, he immediately stretched his arm and slightly pushed Megan away.
“Oh, Megan… I’m so sorry! What happened? Did I push you hard?” he asked and helped Megan get up.
“No, not really. You’re sleeping soundly. Did you dream of me?” Megan bluntly asked. Zach nodded and gave her a poker smile. Then he added, “In my dream, you’re my wife and we’re married.”
Megan gave him a sweet bright smile and she leaned forward and was about to kiss him when Zach’s desk phone rang.
Megan’s face crumpled as the telephone kept ringing.
Zach smiled and casually said, “Answer it. Might be important.” Megan walked to his desk and answered it.
Zach released a sigh quietly and glared at one of the hidden cameras. He was shooting daggers at Torin and Drey who were for sure watching everything, delaying the phone ringing to distract Megan in taking advantage of him.
