The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 614
Today was the day all Lagdamoe dreaded to have. It was then time to finally say goodbye to him, Darry the Lagdameo heir.
Every Lagdameo stood before him, all wearing black. The women were in tears and although most of the Lagdameo men refused to shed one, their loss was far too great than anyone can imagine. Today they were not only to say goodbye to their most celebrated boy, they were also to say goodbye to their last hope.
L’Empire will never be the same without President Darryl and it wouldn’t be long when it will fall down with him to ashes.
“Get on with it,” Don Samuelle instructed, his tone was hard and frigid. The cries of the women around them irritated him and he was mad, mad for how things had ended. Everyone knew Don Samulle was hurt and he was hiding such hurt by acting as if he didn’t care.
“Just a few minutes more father,” Dante Lagdameo put a hand on Don Samuelle’s shoulder. He knew how all these were difficult for him, that’s why he wanted it to be swift. However, Dante thought the women needed time to mourn for him and so he was trying to keep Don Samuelle go easy on it.
“He won’t wake up no matter how long you cry about it,” The old man blabbered once more but everyone who was present there could see he was avoiding such a sight. The sight of his favored grandson, on his hospital bed with his body connected to all the machines in the room. He was on life support and that was the only thing that had kept him breathing.
When Darryl was found in the ocean, he was already unconscious. He had lost so much blood, broke some ribs and his wounds were all fatal. The Hampshire hospital had already given up on him and so they were all forced to bring him to the capital, into the Feather HealthCare corporation. He was then in surgery for eighteen hours but the doctors had already communicated to the Lagdameo family that the chances of his survival were low.
True as it was, after the surgery, Darryl was in a coma and the doctors said he had no more chance of waking up. Although hopeless, his mother Diana didn’t want to let him go and so they kept him for days until he had another seizure. He had undergone another surgery then but the outcome was far worse than the first. Darryl was still in a coma, but this time, he was suffering internally. The doctor made it clear that although Darryl was in a coma, his body can feel the pain every minute that has passed as if he was in an unending hell. To spare him from the agony, they had recommended that they take his life support to spare his body from more pain. At this point even Madam Dian couldn’t hold onto him any longer for no mother would wish to make their son suffer just because she couldn’t let go of him. And so, after a week of agony, L Empire had decided to take Darryl’s support and give him peace. Today, they all gathered to bid him farewell and cremate his body.
“Manuel, spare your wife from more agony,” Samuelle called his son’s attention. Manuel then was comforting his wife as Madam Diana held onto his son’s body, still hoping she could still have him. But she was aware she couldn’t and all she could do was shed unending tears.
“Yes father,” Manuel agreed. Things had already been rough on them for the last few days and his wife’s health was on the verge of breaking. She had not been eating and sleeping for days that on the third day of Darryl’s hospitalization, she had passed out. Manuel was then aware that as long as they keep Darryl, Diana his wife can never move on.
Letting Franco hold onto his wife, Manuel walked to his son’s bed. As the head of the family, he was tasked to pull his son’s life support. For a moment he stood beside him, watching his own pride fall away and he c.a.r.e.s.sed Darryl’s head one last time before his hand held into the tube connected to him.
He took one glance more of him, closed his eyes momentarily and attempted to pull the tube. The cries in the room become intense but even before Manuel could take the life out of his son, the door behind them all opened.
“CEO Leigh would wish to say her goodbyes,” The Lagdameo’s head butler announced and everyone’s attention turned to the lady standing at the door, the Montreal sire was by her side and another stranger with long hair they all didn’t recognize. Huzey had been gone from everyone’s eyes long enough for all to forget about him. So these days, nobody recognizes him as his face has also grown into a man. Two children were standing in front of them too, Willow and Wolfe.
“I thought you would never come,” Don Samuelle greeted her with his usual grumpiness. “Since you are my grandson’s legal wife, then I give you the p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to take his life since none of the people in here was brave enough to do so,”
Don Samuelle announced and left the room thumping his sticks hard on the floor. Truth was he was on the verge of shedding tears and he didn’t want to let everyone see it. The room was also suffocating him, making him feel nauseous that he never wished to enter it again. That’s why he gave the burden to Xhemin so he wouldn’t be required to get into that same room again.
“I’m sorry for your loss,” Franco Lagdameo left the room next and he took time to pat Xhemin’s shoulder. His condolences were sincere and since he was very aware that she was Darryl’s wife, he acknowledged that her loss was greater than theirs.
Xhemin gave Franco Lagdameo a bitter smile and saw how every Lagdameo left the room to give her the privacy that she needed. Former President Manuel Lagdameo and Madam Diana were the last to leave.
