The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 615
Xhemin didn’t move, not until Huzey gently pushed her to step into the room. She felt so weak then, her knees were shaking but since all the Lagdameo gave way for her, she felt the need to go on. She really didn’t want to come in the first place because until then she cannot accept the fact that Darryl was gone but for the sake of her children, she must.
The Lagdameo head butler, out of respect, closed the door to give the Dugmoch’s the privacy they needed. The Lagdameo gathered outside then, hoping that when Xhemin goes out of the room, she had finally pulled Darryl’s life support and spared them such dreadful task.
Darryl was in the middle of the room, laying in his bed like he was just sleeping. The sight of him instantly made Xhemin bursted out of tears as a great amount of pain swept into her heart.
“Xhemin, go on,” Ziggy encouraged him to do so. Seeing that she might have no strength to continue, he asked gently, “Do you want me to do it instead?”
“No, I’ll do it,”Xhemin somehow refused. Wiping her tears away, she turned to her children and carefully dragged them both to Darryl’s bed.
“Wolfe, Willow…” She paused for a moment to swallow another cry, “This is your Appa..”
“I know you both wanted to meet him…and I’m sorry it has to be this way,” She had never had the chance to introduce their children to their father and so Ziggy and her thought this would be the only time they could do it.
Willow who was trying to hold her tears covered her face with her two hands and cried miserably. Wolfe on the other hand held his ground by biting his lips, but even when he didn’t want to cry in front of the a.d.u.l.ts, tears managed to creep out of his little eyes that in just a few seconds he had to take off his glasses as it was all covered by it.
The two children were already aware that Darryl was their father. Wolfe had always had his suspicions but nothing was confirmed until yesterday when Willow woke up. Like her, he had too many questions and self regrets but seeing how miserable their mother was already, he chose not to throw tantrums like Willow did. Unlike Willow who just woke, Wolfe had seen his mother break down for many nights. He had no way to comfort her but just through a promise that Willow will be okay not knowing that it wasn’t only her sister she was worried about. Only then he did understand her mother’s struggle.
Willow’s cry intensified and as she couldn’t hold it any longer, she climbed to Darryl’s bed and gave her father a tight hug, “Appa please don’t leave. I promised I’ll be good from now on. I won’t escape anymore and I won’t eat so much strawberries. I’ll help you with your office work so you won’t get tired as much and won’t have to do overtime all the time,”
The girl said it successively in just a span of a minute. When she was still working in L’Empire she had seen Darryl’s dedication to the company and all his efforts and she thought maybe her Appa was leaving because he was already tired of it too.
Wolfe too let loose. He went to the other side of the bed, took Darryl’s hand and held it tight as he buried his face to his side. “Appa….Appa…Appa..”
The room was filled with tears, even Huzey and Ziggy shed one silently. Who could have thought someone had to sacrifice at the end? And why does it have to be the father of Willow and Wolfe? Both men had their own prejudices about Darryl but they couldn’t deny he did all his best. He fought hard for Xhemin, he mourned hard for years and even when things have changed completely his love for Xhemin remained strong, pure and true. For that, they owe him.
Xhemin walked to Darryl’s side and gave him one last look. She dreaded seeing him dead, however she didn’t want to miss the chance to see his face one last time. She c.a.r.e.s.sed his pale cheeks and combed his hair gently, a few times before she kissed him in the head. Then with eyes closed, she whispered to him like making a wish.
“I wish we could have never left that island,” Her lips stayed in his ears for long, whispering her dreams and wishes. Then lastly she added, “I love you Tatta. I had lost all the right to love in this life. However, if I ever get to be born again, I’ll promise to love you twice the love you have for me now,”
Xhemin and the children stayed in Darryl’s bed for a few minutes and things just got so emotional Ziggy had to step in. He knew that, the more he let Darry’s family mourn for him, the more they’ll have a hard time letting him go.
“Xhemin, it’s time,” Ziggy said.
Hearing it, Willow cried louder and hugged Darryl tighter than she could. Huzey had forcefully gotten her off Darryl and comforted her with all that he could. Willow was still not cleared from her sickness and it wouldn’t be good for her health if she broke loose.
Ziggy on the other hand took Wolfe as Willow, he refused to let go. However, unlike Willow he didn’t need much of a force. Instead, he hugged Ziggy’s legs and cried there.
“Xhemin go on,” Ziggy pressured her as prolonging the agony would only hurt the children further, “It’s not good for the children anymore,”
Xhemin then raised her head with so much defeat. She shook her head in disagreement for a few minutes before the truth had finally struck her heart. Darryl has to go. She needed to let him go or he would forever be in misery.
With last of her strength and with a heart filled with her love, she cupped Darryl’s face, steadied her head to his and said her last goodbyes.
“Goodbye Tatta. May you find rest and happiness on where you are going,” Then, she gave her husband one final kiss beside his lips. It was a long one, the longest she ever did with him.
When her lips parted his face, Xhemin stood and turned to the tube that was attached to Darryl’s body. Her hands were shaking when she held on to it and Wolfe and Willow’s cry intensified. Xhemin closed her eyes and with all the last of her strength, she held onto the tube with her heart that was ready to die with him.
