The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 617
When all heard Wolfe’s words, they turned their head to Darryl in unison and found him staring at Wolfe fixatedly. His hands were still fixed on the bed but he had stretched his fingers to Wolfe’s direction as if trying to reach him but couldn’t.
“O my God!”
“Lemmuel, Lemmuel”
“He is awake!”
Everyone started screaming and running to the bed to look at him. Wolfe who was soo small was immediately towered by the a.d.u.l.ts that he had been lost in Darryl’s sight immediately.
“Arhhhhghhhhhhhhh!” Darryl screamed in pain as soon as the child was lost from his sight. The view of so many people throwing him so many shocks and questions woke his nerves up and he felt an ultimate pain running to every part of his body.
“Everyone make way!” Ziggy pushed through all the Lagdameo so he could check on him. They all immediately gave way especially when they heard Darryl screaming in thorough pain. When he was at Darryl’s side he turned to the people at his back, “Out! Everyone out!”
“My prince, call Darryl’s doctor please!” The Montreal sire added as he started checking on Darryl.
Huzey immediately acted on his request but his steps were a bit slow as Willow was in his arms and he too grabbed Wolfe since everybody was already in a bit of chaos.
“Go ahead, I’ll take the children,” Don Sammuelle offered as he saw Huzey struggling with the two little people who refused to leave the room. He took Willow from Huzey’s arms and held Wolfe, gently dragging him out of the room, “It won’t do President Dee any good if you stay here and cry in front of him like little cowards,”
“But I want to stay,” Wolfe slightly protested but because he had seen how the room suddenly went chaotic, he just allowed the old man to take him. Huzey on the other hand ran out of the room and informed the nurse station about Darryl’s case. Soon his doctor came together with the rest of the staff and everyone was thrown out of the room.

Darryl was in endless pain and he succ.u.mbed to it until he couldn’t feel anything anymore. He felt like he had been sleeping so long that his body forgot how to move and the only thing he could do was breathe. He was in a warm exhausting chasm for long and there was nothing there but an empty painful space. He longed to surrender to it but everytime he decided to render defeat, the faces of Wolfe and Willow appeared, making him stay.
And then finally one day he heard their cries, calling for him, making him stay and his fatherly instinct thought of nothing but to find his way back to make sure his children were good. The first time he opened his eyes, he was welcomed by the sight of Wolfe holding his arms but when people came rushing on him making the child disappear in his eyes, his nerves awakened and he felt an excruciating pain all over his body. He passed out in just minutes.
The next time he opened his eyes, he was twice as weary as he was before and what welcomed him was a beeping sound. The sound calmed him and his heart followed its beat. His eyelids were heavy but it was the only thing he could manage to move then but when his eyes opened fully, his vision was nothing but a blur. He was helpless and there was no one to help him yet remembering the faces of the children he fought hard to save, he deliberately and with full determination, opened his eyes.
Soon, he saw the whole ceiling above him and realized that the beeping sound was coming from the machine beside him.
“Lemuelle?” A gentle voice called on him and he remembered fully whose voice it was. It was his mother’s. He slowly turned to her side and saw the madam smiling with tears. “My son, thank you for coming back. Thank you…thank you..thank you…”
When she heard what happened on the bridge and the fate that befell her children, Madam Dian felt like she was cursed. She had spent days longing for them constantly as her children were always away-Darryl had moved and stayed in his apartment, Dannah rarely came home and Dian moved in the South. And right then when the tragedy happened, she felt like she had been robbed of all the time they had left.
“Mo-ther…” Darryl opened his mouth for the first time to comfort his wailing mother. He had many questions right then, especially that his memory of what happened on the bridge came out so fresh in his mind. He wished he could ask things all at once but he was too weak to even open his mouth to speak and only managed to call his mother.
“My son,” Madam Diana realized she should stop crying and perhaps call the doctor. She immediately stood and rang the nurse station. When Darryl woke up three days ago, he was in thorough pain as the doctor predicted. He had been bleeding internally and his broken bones were the reason for all of it. However, despite that, Darryl waking up was a good sign and so they did another surgery on him and was very relieved when it went fine. They do consider Darryl’s case as a miracle as they already recommended he be taken off from life support but God was merciful enough to heal him before everyone could cut his breathing line.
“The doctors said you are now okay. Thank God!” She promised him. She held his hand on hers as she waited for the doctor to come. Dr. Stevens said Darryl will soon wake up and he did. Although they promised her everything was okay this time, she refused to believe them and waited for him to make up in front of her eyes. So she stayed in the hospital after Darryl’s last surgery and never left.
“Mo-ther,” Darryl dug his weak hazel eyes onto hers. Something came to him as soon as he woke up and he wanted to know since he was all worried, “Da….na…..nah….?”
Madam Dian was taken aback suddenly with Darryl’s question. He was looking for Dannah and all the little joy and relief she had when the Lagdameo heir woke up had instantly left his heart.
“Da…na…nah?” Darryl saw the hesitation, pain and devastation in his mother’s heart and her expression had already answered his question. With tears, he asked helplessly again, wishing she would assure him her little sister was alive and well. But nobody did and the answer he had then was all tears.
