The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 618
In a certain cliff a few miles from Hampshire the breeze moved leaving a sound like that of a sweet lullaby. The sky above it was all blue, marred by some snow colored cloud that scattered all over it unorganized. The clouds were moving, unlike the man who stood beneath it.
There at the cliff stood the youngest Montreal with his dear friends. Huzey stood at his back uttering no sound while Xhemin was leaning on him, giving him warmth and comfort. They were all standing in front of a grave made of stone and granite and they stood there for minutes not saying anything although their hearts could hear the sound of the secret unsaid cries that surrounded the place. It was the cry of Ziggy’s heart, shattered unrepairable. There were no tears in his face as honestly, he seemed to have lost all of his senses that not even his numb heart could make him flinch.
Xhemin was the first to move as her feet suddenly gave up. She stumbled a little but Huzey at their back coughed her immediately before she could drag herself and Ziggy down.
“Let’s wait at the car,” Huzey proposed, knowing that Xhemin herself wasn’t okay. However despite all their burden, they came to mourn with Ziggy.
“Go. Leave me for a while,” Ziggy charged Xhemin as he saw her hesitation to leave. He was grateful for the company but he was not finished, he wanted to stay a bit more. “I’ll be okay. Don’t worry,”
Only with such a promise that Xhemin let go of him and followed Huzey back to the car. Ziggy was left staring at the grave, unsure of what to feel or say.
“I don’t even have words for you,” Ziggy sighed in the wind when he was alone then. It took him great courage to come to this place only to end up not knowing what to do. “I feel like a fool and perhaps more than a fool…..” Right at the moment, he felt some hot tears dripping from his eyes. He had waited for it as he was so terribly full with so many burning feelings inside he needed an outlet for it to subside yet his tears seemed to have lost their way out for many nights “I don’t know where to start this…but probably with a useless ‘I’m sorry’. How could I let you slip like that without even…. Even…” The words in Ziggy’s throat were heavy and he couldn’t bring himself to say anything anymore. Instead, he kneeled on the ground and buried his face on the ground with all his regrets, love, remorse and unsaid words. He was foolish and only then did he realize that and yet the person who can probably change him for good, was down in this grave cold and alone forever.

At the car, Xhemin sat and leaned on the window weakly. Huzey on the other hand looked at Ziggy from afar and felt a thorough pain that struck his heart. His friends had suffered so much lately and although he had chosen to be away from them for many years, he was glad then that at that particular moment when both Xhemin and Ziggy were feeling hopeless, he was there to comfort them.
“Here take this,” Huzey have Xhemin a blanket he kept in the backseat. Xhemin however was too tired to move and so he opted to cover her with it. The breeze at this part of the country was cold, so were all their hearts.
When they all learned that Darryl woke up and needed another surgery. Xhemin stayed in the hospital for three days straight until Darryl woke up this morning. She refused to leave the hospital worried that she would lose the Lagdameo heir again. Although she had made it clear constantly that she nothing to do with Darryl anymore, only a fool would not see that he will always have a part on Xhemin’s heart. Their love had been deeply rooted into it that not even time, space or death can even break it. They might choose to go their separate ways but it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other anymore. Sometimes it’s safe to love someone from afar and that he knew very well.
“You should see him,” Huzey said as he tapped Xhemin’s head.
“I’m nothing but a thorn in his life,” Xhemin replied without emotions “He doesn’t need me and my presence would bring nothing but just heartache to him. That’s the last thing I will give him now,”
“He will look for you and —” Huzey gently pressed the thought.
“I’m scared, Huzey,” Xhemin said honestly. It was what she really felt and there was no point of lying about it in front of her best friend. Xhemin closed her eyes for a while and sighed deep before she added, “I’m afraid he would say goodbye,”
Huzey didn’t understand what Xhemin meant but he also didn’t want pressure to speak so he gave her all the time she needed.
“Ever since I met him…I was so in love that I always end up longing for him. Our encounters were always beautiful but short and so I always wished for his company. Every time my wishes were granted, Darryl’s always leaves at the end even when I don’t want him to. The last time I wished and prayed so much for him was on the island and my prayers were then granted that we had spent beautiful days only for him to say goodbye at the end. Few days ago I prayed harder that I ever did and I’m afraid he came back to grant my prayers only to say goodbye again at the end,”
“I called the hospital earlier and they said he was doing well,” Huzey assured Xhemin.
However he knew then whatever he did, he couldn’t bring any ounces of trust to her doubts. She had been through a lot lately, her mind was not at peace. Xhemin needed to rest, they all needed it.
“Still I don’t want to risk and face any goodbyes,” She heard him weakly and saw she closed her eyes to succ.u.mb to all her unsaid fears and hurts.
