The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 622
Three months after
It was the day that Darryl was discharged from Feather HealthCare hospital and he was sent straight to the marble mansion. Darryl was a bit hesitant of going home because he planned to do many things right away, however, since it was his mother who greatly requested it, he didn’t protest on the matter much.
For the last three months, many things have changed. There were many lawsuits filed because of what happened on the bridge of Puente De Amor and the two families—the Dugmoch’s and the Lagdameo decided to settle the matter discreetly so as not to cause much of a chaos. However, the things that happened between them since the first tragedy that happened six years ago caused too much barrier between both that for a time, they decided to avoid each other to not create any more misunderstandings, complications and also for all of them to move on.
The whole Dugmoch’s household decided to stay for good in Hampshire, Xhemin herself rarely goes to the capital and comes only when she was very badly needed in the LGC. For the meantime, Clay was handling the company and the rest of her obligations in the capital. Ziggy on the other hand decided to pause his intentions of taking over the management of Feather HealthCare corporation and until then, the management was in Manager Cheng’s hands.
Willow and Wolfe’s identity remained a secret as both Dannah and Darryl decided not to tell their family about it yet while they were still in the hospital. So the Lagdameo remained uncaring about the children although Don Samuelle does miss Willow sometimes and secretly checks on her from time to time. He understood that as an elder of the Lagdameo he must set an example for everyone and having any connections with the Dugmoch’s, especially at this time where all their wounds were fresh, would hinder everyone from moving on and so he was very careful with his affections with Willow, making sure no one would know that he cared for the child.
The Dugmoch’s also decided to keep the children from visiting the hospital because as per the children’s therapist advice, they had to be kept away from stress and any stimuli that would make them remember the accident. Besides, Willow was already starting off a semester in Rivendell and so her schedule had been busy. Wolfe on the other hand was still sick and so he was always kept inside the Richmond ranch all the time.
Ziggy on his part, wasn’t ready to see Dannah after what happened. He was actually the lead surgeon that operated on Dannah and so he was the one who put Scar’s heart to her. After the surgery, he avoided seeing Dannah so he had another doctor take care of her when she was already recovering. To be with his family, he decided to practice medicine in the South, taking over what Dr. Miles had left there and started another research with Emma, Xhemin’s head researcher, to find some cure for Wolfe.
“Welcome home President D!” Many welcomed Darryl at the marble mansion, mostly were people who were close to him. He certainly did not expect such a welcome home party but seeing everyone with nothing but all smiles warmed his heart.
“Thank you everyone!” He bowed at them. Madam Diana had organized a small party for him and he invited those whom he knew he wished and would be glad to see. He even invited people from the Forest mansion, Dr. Cyan, Farmer Su, Manager Song and the rest of the staff that once worked for him.
“Welcome home,” Dannah, who was there with the crowd, came and gave him a kiss on the cheeks. She was discharged from the hospital a month before him. “Enjoy the party while you can because I’ve seen a bulk of files in your office waiting for you. You might not have time to party again after this,” Dannah whispered, trying to make fun of the load of work that was waiting for him.
“I thought you had handled it all for me,” He eyed his sister, “What have you been doing for a month then? Have you been slacking these days?”
“Alright, that’s enough for you two. Come and join the visitors. Everyone must have been hungry as they all waited for you to come,” Madam Diana went in between Dannah and Darryl. She dragged the two then inside and the party started.
The little gathering went on for a while. The music was loud, the food was good and Darryl made sure he had enough talks with everyone. Before the day ended, they called the Lagdameo heir for a toast. Darryl stood in the middle of everyone with a glass of champagne in his hand. He looked around, smiling at every person that had played a big part of his life—from his family who were standing in one corner together, to his relatives, a few friends and employees. Lastly, his eyes landed on Dannah and the latter smiled wide at him, encouraging him to say a few words of encouragement for everyone.
“Family, friends,” Darryl started his speech, “The past few months had been tough and many of you might have not imagined me standing here today alive and well. Many of you cried for me and I just to let you know that I am grateful for each of you. I might have lost everything from what happened but with all of you I have found home and peace. I have always thought that in order to be happy, you must be with all the people you wanted to be with but things just don’t go your way. The secret to true happiness and peace is finding it within you. You can’t find it in any person, in any love, not in any dreams, it is within us. It’s not too late for new beginnings!”
“To new beginnings!” Dannah cheered from the crowd.
“To new beginnings!” Everyone shouted after her and they all made a toast and drank their champagne. That day, everyone celebrated their President’s comeback and knew that many more changes would happen soon. Whatever was it that came along the way, they all wished Darryl to finally find the happiness and peace he deserved.
