The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 625
Dannah was shocked to hell upon the realization. Many mixed emotions came on her making her unable to speak for a few minutes.
“I see that you are very surprised. You must have not known,” Edmund said while looking at her expression.
“Edmund this baby…” The third miss lost her tongue in the middle as her shock made her mind and heart all too occupied with many things all of a sudden.
“It is Dian’s,” The previous Huang young master replied. With a heavy sigh he added, “Turns out she was round four months pregnant when the tragedy in Puente De Amor happened,”
Hearing his words further, Dannh’s expression run from being shocked to being confused in an instant.
“Edmund, this baby is a Lagdameo,” Dannah turned to him, not able to comprehend what was going on.
“Yes of course…partly,”
“Then why is she here?” She noticed the baby was a girl and so she was able to properly refer to her in the midst of all her uncertainties. Dannah thought that if her family, the Lagdameo, knew about the birth of this child, they would not allow under any circ.u.mstances that she be born in the outskirts—in the middle of nowhere. They would certainly make sure the baby was well tended as she was another heir to be celebrated about, no matter how grave her mother’s crime was. Besides, obviously, the baby was prem.a.t.u.r.e as she was still being held in an incubator.
“Only your Franco knows about her,” Edmund started clarifying things. “When your relatives knew of what she did, they all condemned her. Nobody visited her in her private room aside from your mother. Besides, Dian was so hostile after she woke up that she was immediately recommended to be sent here. Your uncle Franco was the only person who had gotten to know of her real situation because as of I know, he was always the one who always handles things like this in your family,”
Dannah understood what Edmund said. It was very likely that when no one wanted to have anything to do with Dian, Franco took the initiative to settle things for her. Besides, he and as well as his syndicate was the one who always cleaned up all the Lagdameo’s dirty shits and right then, Dian was one of those shits.
“He knew she was pregnant but could not decide on it, specially that the Lagdameo had more important things to take care of for the last three months and the last things they would wish in the midst of their chaos, was a child born of the person they were all ashamed to have,” The light in Edmund’s eyes faltered and he end up smiling bitterly. “Your uncle was afraid that this child might become the punching bag of the Lagdameo’s frustration of Dian and so he was torn between exposing the child to the hatred of every Lagdameo or hiding her away from all the cruelty in the world. You see, your uncle cares for things no one in your family does,”
“I understand now,” Edmund was right. Her uncle had some qualities they all don’t have. Even when he was labelled as the most ruthless and merciless Lagdameo, he was in real life, ironically, soft hearted specially when it comes to children. Didn’t he also tend to her and Scar? She being an abandoned Lagdameo little miss, who shamefully bore the eyes they all wished not to remember and Scar, an orphan with nothing but his determination and dignity.
“He didn’t know what to do with her but when you woke up…” Edmund gave Dannah a meaningful look this time, as if adoring her before he continued. “He thought that it was best that you will be the one who decides what to do with this child,”
“Me?” Another shock came to Dannah’s stem but before she could say anything Edmund filled in more words.
“He said you were the only family left of the baby’s biological father and since we could not rely on Dian right now because of her unsound mind and that he cannot trust the baby to the Lagdameo because they might have prejudices with her, he will give the baby to her father’s side. Right now, you are the only family left of her father, that’s why I called you…”
Edmund sighed deep, as if he was drawing more courage within before he continued, “So….I had been asking this to your uncle but he was undecided then and since he transferred the responsibility to you, I would like to ask you third miss, if you could possibly allow me, Edmund Long, to take care of this baby… I would promise to raise her with all the best that I could if you would just give me a chance,”
“Edmund!” Although her shock didn’t abase yet, Dannah knew what Edmund was asking was kind of superfluous. It was very obvious he knew that he was not the baby’s father despite him being engaged to her and that Dian cheated on him and even sired a child after everything. And him, taking care of a child born out of Dian’s betrayal of him was too much for Dannah’s gut to take in. “You knew very well that this baby—”
“This baby isn’t mine but it’s okay,” Edmund smiled at her genuinely and for some reasons Dannah thinks he was sincere with his intentions. However, for what foolish reasons would Edmund, the abandoned and thrown out young master of the Huangs, want a child from a fiance who brought shame to him and even caused him to lose all his inheritances and rights? In no circ.u.mstances would Dannah allow such requests. It was just too much!
“It’s really okay third miss,” Edmund assured her, “Anyways, the whole world knows I’m your sister’s fiance and no one knew of her betrayal to me, only few who I guess at this point wouldn’t care about it anyway. So basically, everyone, including your family will understand why I would take the child in case this news reaches them. They would all simply assume it’s mine and acknowledge my right,”
