The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 633
“Darryl is right in this part,” Don Samuelle who had been listening also supported Darryl’s point. “Since there had been no formal conversations about this yet then let me be the one to condemn it first. Our ways of refusing to acknowledge Lagdameo women had been the most stupid thing we had ever done. I myself had seriously been devoted to this practice and I have never felt regretful at it until now. In my position as one of the powerful elders of the Lagdameo clan, I vow to eliminate all the discriminations we have with the women in our family,”
“I know it is hard to change old ways specially that it had been in our roots since we all could remember,” Don Samuelle added, “However times have changed, our needs have changed and we must always accept these changes so we can all move forward. Besides, our light is about to end, the surname Lagdameo will be erased in this country’s list of big families sooner and before that happens, I wanted to give honor and glory to all our women who gave birth to all the Lagdameo heirs we all celebrated,”
“Aye!” Franco agreed after Don Samuelle had given a good speech. Out of all the Lagdameo he was actually the first person who didn’t practice patriarchy that’s why he took Dannah without discrimation.
“Aye!” Dante Lagdameo also gave his approval without hesitation.
“Aye!” Manuel Lagdameo held a deep sigh upon it, thinking about how he almost lost all his children because of their ways. He felt utterly regretful that he failed as a father.
When his three children laid in the hospital without hope, Manuel had never felt so disappointed about himself.
He had too much expectation of them and thought that since they were all raised as good and very family oriented children, they would pursue all his plans for them without objection. However they didn’t, and he made them bend and break just so he could align them all to his plans. At the end, he watched them fight for their lives helplessly and there was no glory nor power—he previously pursued—that was able to save them from that.
Soon, one by one, all the Lagdameo’s present in that room agreed to Don Samuelle’s declaration. They also acknowledge that it was hard to change their ways but swore to condemn it starting then.
“Now, I believe we can end protests about women leading L’Empire,” Don Samuelle continued. “However my boy, I still do not understand why the LGC CEO was to lead us now. We are a close corporation and I know your wife and you had some complications in your marriage. It wouldn’t be long before you divorce each other—”
“I had already filed for divorce grandfather,” Darryl confessed. “As soon as CEO Leigh signs them, she’s a free woman,”
“Then basically you are inviting a stranger into our company!” Draco Lagdameo strongly held his ground. “I have no problem at all if it was Dannah Samuelle who’s going to lead us now, why is the LCG CEO?”
“Yes my son, if you want to retire. Give the company to your sister,” Manuel then gently protested, hoping Darryl could see the different perspective. He was afraid that his son was then blinded by love when it seemed for years, his devotion for the LGC CEO had never faltered. “Dannah had been leading the company in your absence, she is ready,”
“I have no problems with Dannah leading L’Empire. I acknowledge that she is good,” Darryl started his expansion with praises for her sister, “But Dannah is not yet ready. She had issues she wanted to fix and some dreams she wanted to fulfill outside L’Empire. Also, Dannah Samuelle had strongly supported my plans. We both think Miss Ava Leigh deserves L’Empire. We are going to let her have it,”
“We do not understand how in the world she deserves something like this?” Even Dante Lagdameo, who did not have personal prejudices with Xhemin, strongly resisted Darryl’s plans. He just thought it wouldn’t be right for someone not their kin to enter L’Empire because aside from it is a close corporation, LGC and L’Empire right then weren’t in good terms with each other, “I mean I do not have personal agenda against CEO Leigh, she is a good businesswoman and with the wealth she possess especially that she is the heir to Leigh Estates makes L’Empire secure in her hands. However President D, our corporation was intently made by our ancestors as a close corporation for good reasons. This I guess we should respect,”
“I agree. As you said, you and CEO Leigh are going to have a divorce, we cannot let someone in without a family connection,” Another seconded the motion.
“I understand your concerns,” Darryl acknowledged it politely. “But know that I am not giving CEO Leigh L’Empire because of any devotions I have with her. I and Dannah decided to give it to her because I said, out from any of us, she deserves it the most,”
“Please help us understand,” Dante invited his reasons in, very willing to compromise if it was for good intentions.
Darryl held a deep breath ready to finally uncover everything. He thought it was finally the right time to tell everything and start mending broken relationsh.i.p.s.
“Six years ago, we made the greatest mistake of not being able to protect the last Lagdameo heir. He was Winter Lagdameo and I want you to remember him all,” Darryl then paused for minutes in honor of the son he lost. It was the first time his name was mentioned in L’Empire and so right then, the tragedy of his death refreshed in everyone’s memory with sighs of regret and deep frustrations. Darryl then continued, “He was our last hope and us, failing to protect him ended our lineage. After him we had all been held barren, probably our curse of failing to give him the protection he deserved,”
