The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 648
When it was almost sunset, the parade of significant royals went on. It was a custom then that if a leader like Baruk Tam was to be married, a parade would be set traversing through every street of the village to give commoners a glimpse of the wedding since not everyone can witness the ceremony.
When it was time for the royals to hop into the carriages, there was a slight commotion that occurred. The Highest Princess carriage suddenly had problems and so it caused some delay. The parade had already started and Chieftain Enoch set off together with Princess Song, next line should be the Highest princess but since her carriage wasn’t moving, the handmaids panicked.
“Princess, your absence will surely cause a commotion,” One of her handmaids exclaimed. “Everyone knew you are in the Somer village to attend the wedding and if they won’t see you in the streets, everyone will say you had been disrespectful,”
“Many people will also be disappointed since they were all expecting you too,” The highest princess then somehow had a good reputation and her beauty was always highlighted in each event. Since Enoch didn’t have a wife yet, she was held the most powerful woman in the island then and so she was greatly respected. She didn’t have any controversies before and this was the reason her maids were anxious as they and the princess herself made sure they won’t have scandals and controversies that would cause a ruckus .
“I should just go and walk,” The Highest princess thought, also worried about the sudden unexpected failure.
“If you would, they will all criticise Baruk Tam for not being able to treat his guests well,” Someone warned and this only made the Princess’ problem more complicated.
“How about you ask for a ride from someone?” Someone suggested and they all turned to the next carriage to see who was to ride next to the princess’ carriage. The carriage was empty then so one of the princess handmaids ran to the horseman to ask.
“Whose carriage is this?”
“This was meant for the Hero of Somer Isles,” The horseman answered.
“Princess Lana, the next carriage belongs to the Hero, why don’t you ask him for a ride?” One suggested. All this was a coincidence but they took it as a sign that indeed the princess and Hero somehow were destined to be in one carriage that day.
“But….but…”
“You can get in,” Darryl’s voice from their back made them all silent. Even Princess Lana was not able to say a word and gaped open, as she couldn’t believe Darryl said yes without hesitation. “Go ahead, your carriage predicament had been causing a delay,”
“I really am so sorry,” The princess apologized and thanked him at the same time. She immediately ran toward Darryl’s carriage and the moment she stepped in, Darryl was already at the door and gallantly assisted her as she climbed into his carriage.
Everyone who saw Darryl’s gallantry, especially the Highest princess handmaids looked at each other delightfully at what they saw. The Hero of Somer Isles had publicly displayed his gallantry to the Highest Princess and it made them all ecstatic. The Hero and the Highest princess looked good together, one would be a fool not to notice that!
“Thank you Hero,” Princess Lana was grateful to him as he saved her from thorough humiliation. Deep inside she had thought of the many times Darryl had saved her, first was in the three houses and next was that moment when she was left with no choice but to ride with him. Not like there were other places she wanted to be right at the moment, as although all this was coincidental, she really liked the idea that she was riding a carriage with him.
“No need to thank me. This is just a small thing compared to what will happen if you missed out the parade,” Darryl answered her for once. Being able to stay in Manggan Island for long, he kind of learned their ways and traditions so that he was very careful to follow them wholeheartedly. “I don’t want any rumours of Baruk Tam not being able to attend to guests properly,”
“Me neither,” Princess Lana agreed and sat with Darryl in her carriage. The parade then went on and everyone in the streets was very pleased to see the Highest Princess being in one carriage with the Hero of Somer Isle.
“Look, the hero is with the Highest Princess!”
“O my, they looked like a good couple!”
“Why are they in one carriage? They looked so happy together!”
The voice of the people in the streets warmed the Highest Princess heart. She dragged her gaze then to Darryl who was taking his time waving a hand to the people. Like the first time they welcomed him, they too threw out fresh flowers and bouquets on the streets for him.
“Blessing from the highest God Hero!” An old woman approached him when their carriage stopped.
“Thank you Illa,” Darryl accepted her bouquet and thanked the old lady. He called him Illa, which means grandmother in the Manggan tongue. He was about to turn to the other side and entertain another person when the old lady clung to him as if she was about to say something.
“Illa, is there something wrong?” Darryl was confused and immediately thought the old woman was sick or something. He was about to call a horseman when the old woman turned to Princess Lana’s side.
The old woman then raised a finger at Princess Lana and said, “In your hands comes the salvation of the Hero’s household. If you give a pure gift to the hero tonight, a baby will born in house,”
Then the woman turned Darryl and fixed her hard gaze on her. “Take it hero. Take her the gift she offers and your curse will be lifted. Your household will expand and the dead one that had caused you great pain will be replaced my many,”
“Illa Duray?” Only when the old woman blabbered thoughtlessly that many recognized her. Even Princess Lana gets on her feet to come to her side.
“Illa Duray, are you giving us a vision?” Princess Lana held on her but the old woman squeezed herself away from her and ran away.
“Yes it is Illa Duray! She has given a prophecy!” The onlookers were all bewildered and they all looked at each other. It had been such a long time since the great Illa Duray appeared in the eyes of many and all the more, it had been a long time since she said a prophecy.
“She had given a vision for the Hero’s household! A baby will be born from the highest princess if she gives a gift!” Someone screamed and there was chaos in that part of the street. Many cheered and wailed, good thing the parade continued and their carriage moved. Only when they were away from the cheering crowd did Darryl was able to process everything.
“Who is that woman?” He immediately asked the princess.
“She is Illa Duray, a seer. She had long retired but all her visions are reliable” Princess Lana was overwhelmed. With a great smile that meant all the joy in the world. “Hero, she has given you a vision. She said I will sire you a child,”
