The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 649
After that little chaos with Illa Duray, the parade went on smoothly. However, when Darryl’s carriage came to a full stop at the place where the wedding was to be held, the Highest Princess handmaids flocked in.
“Highest Princess are you alright?” Since they didn’t join the parade, the handmaids reached the wedding place first before anyone else. They all assisted her when she stepped down the Heros’ carriage carefully as if she was a fragile being.
“Careful Highest princess! You might hurt the child,” One of her handmaid’s exclaimed excitedly. They all heard about the vision Illa Duray casted and the rumours fled right away.
“What child are you talking about? I am not pregnant yet,” Princess Lana chided her handmaiden. She knew they were all excited about the vision of the seer and that’s why her handmaid thought she was pregnant already provided by the fact that she had stayed in the Hero’s house for weeks already. Her handmaid must have thought Darryl had already taken her purity and so that’s why they were all concerned. Since she knew Darryl heard it, she turned to him and bowed apologetically.
“I’m sorry, Hero. Illa Durray was once a respected seer and so people don’t take her words lightly,” She told him trying to push into his mind the importance of the vision. She wasn’t then actually as what she spoke about Illa Durray were all true and many would agree with her.
“I am not the kind of man who believes in visions,” Darryl said for the first time. Although what happened tonight came in wonder, it didn’t bother him and that much unlike the Princess who took such vision heavily. “Please do not dwell on much thought Princess Lana,” Then he turned to all her handmaids, “I asked that spread no rumours about a child. The Highest Princess is a single woman, stories like this will cast a doubt on her reputation and it might come as a problem in the future,”
“Yes Hero, we apologize,” The handmaids replied in unison.

Soon, as the sun and the horizon met, Maru walked down the long aisle with her bowl of rice. She was teary and emotional and so were the people who watched her walk toward the front altar. She was wearing a gown almost of the same style and color of the gown the healer once wore. She had told the weavers she liked the same and wanted to look as beautiful as the healer when she once walked down the aisle. Her handmaids granted her wish then and as she was walking, the scene of the healer walking down the aisle that she had seen years ago when she was a child came back to her and it gave her a mix of sad and happy memories. She just wished she was here but although she wasn’t, she knew her memory will always make her inspired and hopeful.
There on the other side, Baruk Tam stood proud and happy while Darryl stood at his back. The Baruk had no more families alive and so Darryl then acted as his family as they had long treated each other as brothers. It was a powerful thing to watch, especially that Chieftain Enoch also stood behind them, ready to conduct the wedding rites. At the moment, they were held as the three powerful personalities in the Manggan Archipelago and so the sight gives everyone a strong sense of pride and security.
When Maru reached the center aisle, Baruk Tam took the bowl in her hands and in just a moment, they started to make rice balls together. It was a very beautiful and solemn thing to watch that Darryl smiled, remembering the time he was wed with his wife. His heart then warmed for a while until it had gone cold again. He wondered how she was then, what she was doing and if ever at times, his memory had crossed her mind. It had been a long time since he left the mainland but Xhemin’s face still comes clear and real in his dreams. There was not an inch about her that he had forgotten and never will it be.
“May the Highest God bless this marriage,” Chieftain Enoch who ministered the wedding bless it and announced, “Everyone I give you Baruk Tam of Somer Isles and his wife,”
There was a loud cheering that went after that and everyone came to greet the couple one by one in the center aisle. Darryl himself went to Baruk Tam, put his right hand on his shoulder and greeted him. He also went to Maru and kissed her head, “Blessings to you. Congratulations!”
“Thank you Hero, it really warms my heart that you are here,” Baruk Tam was grateful. Darryl was the one family he had and for months he had been trying to connect to him to get him to attend his wedding and yet, it was the hero himself who had come home and accompanied him.
“Thank you Hero, I really am happy that you are here,” Maru herself extended her gratitude “If it weren’t for you, my husband had long left me a widow even before our marriage took place,” She said remembering the time Darryl saved Baruk Tam’s life. “Our wedding right here is not only a celebration of love, it is also a remembrance of your greatness as the Hero who saved my love and the Hero saved Somer Isle for falling apart,”
“You think of me highly, when the truth is, I am the one indebted to you,” Darryl replied and bowed with all honor for them, “Thank you for accepting as part of Somer Isles and as a family,”
“Enough with the emotional talk,” Chieftain Enoch was there at the sidelines watching them. “Any more of it will make me cry so let’s leave and go to the wedding banquet before my pride falls,”
“Alright then, to the wedding banquet!” Baruk exclaimed, inviting everyone to the banquet his household prepared.
