The Genius’ First Love - Chapter 650
The banquet was filled with entertainment. Many offered music and dances to the guests and the night was filled with laughter, talks and a pile of good foods. The couple, Maru and Baruk Tam, sat at the center table. On their left table was Enoch and Darryl’s table while one stepped below their stage was Princess Song and the Highest Princess table. They were all watching as the entertainment went on and lavished themselves with food and wine.
As the festive went on, Maru turned to Darryl.
“Hero, I forgot to thank you for the bowl of rice you prepared for me,” She told him.
Darryl was confused on what she was talking about but before he could raise a question, the Highest Princess answered for him. “No worries about it Maru, the hero of Somer Isles was very honored to give the bowl of rice for the wedding,”
Princess Lana’s actions then raised many curious minds. Even Darryl himself drew his gaze to her wondering what she was doing but then t things got out of hand.
“Princess Lana was the one who prepared the bowl of rice on behalf of the Hero’s household?” Eldur Du, a high elder of the Somer village who was then sitting on the left side table raised the question right away.
“Yes I did it on behalf of the hero’s household elder Gu.” She announced, proud of her supposed good deed. “The hero was terribly busy attending to Baruk Tam and so I prepared it for him,”
Her answer then brought more eyes to Darryl and her. Many who have heard the conversation wanted to ask whether the rumours going around were true and if indeed something was going on in the Hero’s household.
The first rumour spread when Princess Lana stayed at the Hero’s household instead of the one prepared for her in Baruk Tam. Everyone wondered why she did such a thing and they all thought it was because she was invited by Darryl or that it was the Chieftain himself who arranged such. With this, the rumour about princess Lana becoming a concubine in the hero’s household spread like wildfire most especially that few days after she came, she brought gifts for the hero, as if she was giving a dowry for him.
Second rumour was caused by what happened at the parade when Illa Durray envisioned a child will be born in the hero’s household. Many have not personally heard the words that Illa Durray uttered and so some interpretations went extreme and the rumour about the highest princess being i.m.p.r.e.g.n.a.t.ed by the hero spread like wildfire.
Right then when the Highest Princess herself announced that she prepared the bowl of rice for Maru, they all thought she did it as she was already a part of the hero’s household.
“The hero’s household was very blessed to have you as the Highest princess,” Eldur Gu meant it as a compliment as right then he and all the guests finally believed all rumours were true. “There was in indeed no perfect woman to lead the hero’s household but the highest princess herself,”
Princess Song’s ears tingled with what Elder Gu uttered but before she could react, Maru spoke.
“Elder Gu, I think there is a misunderstanding,” Maru was concerned about how the conversation was going on and since it was her wedding, she didn’t want her night to end with false rumours going around, “The Highest Princess is not a part of the Hero’s household, she was only a guest,”
“High lady, I think you have not heard yet,” Eldur Gu continued, already convinced that something between the Hero and Highest Princess was running in between. “Illa Durray had come up in the streets and told a vision about the Highest Princess being pregnant of the hero’s child,”
“What??” Maru felt an instant annoyance inside her. Even Princess Song herself balled her first at what she heard. They were both suspicious of the Highest princess actions these days but since they were too busy to look after her, they dismissed their suspicions specially that ever since he reign, she had no scandalous or misdeeds that was reported, in fact everyone was talking good about her.
Many people who were there wanted to speak and opposed that for a moment there was a sudden chaos in the tables but even before things got worse, Chieftain Enoch intervened.
“Silence!” The Chieftain halted everyone’s words. “We are in a wedding and yet here you are talking about rumors,”
“Forgive us Chieftain,” Elder Gu who started the noise immediately apologized. “But Illa Durray had been our seer for decades and it had been a while since she stopped seeing visions. Knowing that she went her way to the streets to give visions to the hero, then it must be very very important,”
“Yes that’s true Chieftain,” Another guest expressed his opinion. “His visions had been proven real and reliable and he was able to help us in the past few years. We cannot take his visions lightly,”
“Enough!” Chieftain Enoch had enough words that he was not even sure was right. Worried about Darryl, he turned to his side to check whether all these discussions were affecting him. He knew Darryl was having a hard time these days and the last thing he would want for him was to struggle and be problematic about the tribe’s affairs. Luckily Darryl only gave him a shrug which made him aware that the hero of Somer Isles had nothing to do with it and he was trying not to get into his nerves.
Although a part of him was irritated, Darryl decided to ignore the thing as he wanted to focus his mind on more important tasks. Besides, he thought a rumour can only go as far as being a mere rumour and soon people will see that it has no basis at all.
“How can you let such a rumour go on like this?” Chieftain Enoch reprimanded every guest who dared to bring the rumor in a wedding banquet. “You are all disrespecting the newly and also disrespecting the hero of Somer Isle,”
