The Girl In The Louvre - Chapter 1 A Chance Meeting 1
Thursday, the fifth of June 2014.
“Zhi Ruo! look over here, there is so much gold.” Exclaimed a cheerful girl with a headful of puffy hair that resembled a raccoon back.
“Wow, imagine living in this palace” replied Zhi Ruo as she walked over “waking up surrounded by tons and tons of marble, gold, gilding, and priceless pieces of art.” Her eyes glinted as she stared at the walls glittering with gold and colourful marble floors covered in thick carpets.
“Okay class, everyone can go wander on your own. Please remember to return to the main hall in and hour and a half because we are going to go visit the Tuileries Garden before it gets dark.” Without looking away from a painting of some French general ‘gloriously’ beheading a poor peasant Zhi Ruo knew that it was her amazing art teacher. Why was she amazing? Simple, she managed to convince their principal that it would be very helpful for the students’ education if they could take a week-long trip to the Louvre Museum.
“Hey Zhi Rou, what do you want to see?” asked the raccoon girl.
“There are several paintings that I want to see, how about we start with the Mona Lisa?” said Zhi Rou as she grabbed a map from a nearby stand.
“I think we walk up this giant staircase, and then go down the hall about fifty meters and then turn to the left, right Jie Fang?”
“Well, I don’t really know, It seems like gibberish to me,” said the raccoon girl. “Why did they make the map all those colours anyway?”
“You would know if you paid attention in your English classes. The different colours are for different exhibits and the Mona Lisa is in the purple.” She said while raising her eyebrows.
Jie Fang grumbled as they started walking started walking up the stairs.”Why do we even need to speak English in France anyway?”
“Ha, I doubt you could understand the French map either.” Said Zhi Rou arrogantly while looking at her friend in playful disdain. “Remember when that boy asked you for your pass and you thought he was hitting on you?”
“Ah, I didn’t do that,” said Jie Fang as she covered Zhi Rous mouth with her hand. “Besides, he kept being really nice to me.”
Squirming, Zhi Rou struggled to free herself from her best friends grasp while giggling. “Mmhhhhaa, alright, I believe you. I wouldn’t worry though as you probably will not ever have to see him again and your shameful past will remain hidden haha.”
As they were talking they kept wandering through the expansive array of hallways, rooms, and staircases while dodging the occasional large group of tourists. It had been about twenty minutes since they had set out and they still couldn’t see even the corner of the Mona Lisa. As her legs were already a bit tired because of the commute from their hotel to the palace Jie Fang was getting rather irritable “Ugh, why can’t we find the Mona Lisa? I mean, it is a world-famous painting, shouldn’t they have signs to it or something?”
“Why don’t we just ask someone?” said Zhi Rou “How about that guy? He seems nice?”
“Hehe yeah, you can go ask the cutest guy that we have seen this whole trip, after all, I don’t know English,” said Jie Fang while giggling through her fingers. “”
“What so funny?” Zhi Rou asked while blushing slightly “I just picked him at random.”
“Haha, Okay Zhi Rou, you don’t have to explain it to me.” Jie Fang said while pushing her towards the guy.
