The Goblin’s Leveling System! - Chapter 137
Axel’s PoV:
I was flipping the pages of a book that had the title of ‘Don’t know about this world’s history? You must be living under a rock or something! Read this book to find out more!’.
I don’t know what’s up with the author of this book’s mind to come up with such a long and annoying title.
It would have been better to title it ‘World History’.
I’m getting sidetracked again so I should focus on reading the books that I’m holding right now.
As I flipped a page of a book and started reading the words on that page, Axel 2 started reading it with me even though he doesn’t need to.
After all, Axel 2 could have just browse in my memory lane to find out memories about this book that I am reading right now.
I found out from another book that stated that a brain had a memory lane and every time new information was being added into the brain, a new memory lane would be created.
A baby’s memory lane was similar to all of the roads found in a city and there would often be astonishment of a certain memory lane in a baby’s memory lane if it wasn’t accessed for a long time.
That was one of the reasons why a person had only fragments of memories when they were still a year old or two.
Even a genius such as myself, I was only able to preserve snippets of my memories from when I was still 6 months old and a few memories when I was 7 months old and above.
With the use of fragments of memories I had from when I was still half a year old, I was able to find out that my parents left me in the orphanage and the people at the orphanage took care of me.
I was able to learn all about that when I was at the age of three despite the staff from the orphanage not telling me anything about it.
I was still sure that the staff from the orphanage would have revealed to me later on that I was left by my parents only after I reached the right age to be able to understand it.
But of course, the staff at the orphanage didn’t know I was already conscious about my actions even before I was brought to the orphanage.
I was a genius and my high intelligence quotient was the reason why I was conscious at that time.
It would have been better for me to forget all about it since my childhood was filled with bad memories.
Anyways, I’m getting sidetracked again but I was still reading the book while I was having my internal monologue.
Axel 2 was reading the gaps in the book that I had forgotten to read so with both of our memories pieced together, it was enough to be able to found out the world’s history.
The world’s history was much more interesting than the history of the previous era in my homeworld which was Earth.
It was believed that the ancestors of every race from a thousand years ago had much superior magic spells than as of today.
It was also a legend that the mana was so dense that it was natural for a normal human to be able to cast a low-tier magic spell even without any affinity towards a certain element.
And also, the world’s power level from a thousand years ago was completely different from the world’s power level today.
It would have been great if I could time travel back to the past so that I would be able to obtain numerous deity rank artifacts.
It was also mentioned in the book that there were at least ten weapons that were beyond god rank and half of it was used by the ancient heroes while the other half was used by the ancient demon lords.
The power that came from a beyond god rank artifact was supreme. It was something that I had sought for a long time and it was more of a shortcut in getting stronger.
If I’m not wrong, then there was numerous god rank and beyond god rank artifacts in the system shop.
If the system A.I. was not updating, then I would have asked for assistance in browsing through the system shop to find useful skills and artifacts because I badly needed them against the high-level monsters.
I knew that I won’t be a match against the high-level monsters so I might as well use high-rank artifacts to defeat the high-level monsters.
It should be doable if I had a god rank artifact at my arsenal but since I don’t have it, then I’m just seeking an imminent death for myself.
{You don’t have to be that worried, Axel 1. I had read numerous books inside the system inventory so I would be able to come up with any skills or knowledge that would be useful against the monsters that you would be facing.}
Axel 2 comforted me and told me that he had already browsed through some of the books in the Elven Library that I had stolen and stored in the system inventory.
It was a great thing that Axel 2 had done his research because if not, he wouldn’t be labeled as my cautious personality for nothing.
All I needed was to prepare my skills and thought of a plan to use my wits against the monsters since I was much more intelligent than all of the monsters combine, except for the stats.
As I was flipping through all of the pages in the book while reading the words and paragraphs on each page, the high-level monsters were busy fighting against each other.
Although I wanted to wait for the high-level monsters to kill each other until one came out as the victor, I found out that it was unwise since I needed to devour the flesh of the high-level monsters to get stronger.
If the victor of the battle against all of the high-level monsters decided to eat all of the high-level monsters’ remains, it would leave me nothing but the high-level monsters’ bones if I’m lucky enough that one of the high-level monsters decided to leave at least a bone or two.
I observed the battle of the high-level monsters against each other since there would be a chance that I would gain enlightenment in using the skills I would obtain from them later on.
I needed to know how to use each skill since it would fall into my hands later on after I killed all of the high-level monsters or the remaining high-level monsters.
I analyzed the attack pattern and skills used by the high-level monsters so that I would be able to counter them during my upcoming battle against the high-level monsters.
I made sure not to miss any single detail about the attack pattern and skills used by the high-level monsters.
It was essential for someone weak like me to defeat my opponents using my intelligence without too much reliance on brute force.
The gods had granted the humans wisdom and intelligence for such reason so why not make the most of it?
One of the high-level monsters started sniffing out my scent and it eventually located where I was hiding at.
It seemed that the leafy scent that covered my smell was no longer in effect due to prolonged use.
Well, since the high-level monster had already discovered me, I might as well launch an attack against it even if my attack would draw the attention of the other high-level monsters.
Now that I had steeled my resolve to fight against the high-level monsters head-on even though I knew that there was a high chance that I would die, I’ll still start conjuring my attack.
I gathered my mana at my right hand and formed my hand into a pistol hand sign.
I gathered and concentrated the mana in my right hand into the tip of my index finger while kept on building up energy in it.
After I was confident that the mana in my index finger was enough to use as an attack to defeat the high-level monster, I aimed it at the high-level monster.
The high-level monster that I was aiming at was a level 70,000 great lion fire emperor and I was currently aiming at its head.
The mana gathered at the tip of my index finger was running haywire which indicated that it was time to release it.
I made sure that I was aiming at the head of the high-level monster since I only had one shot and I needed to make it count.
My location would be exposed to the other high-level monster if I launched an attack so I had no choice but to make sure that my attack would kill the level 70,000 great fire lion emperor.
I was at the peak of my concentration and I was under stress and pressure because of the fear of failing to hit the high-level monster.
I let out a heavy breath to ease my mental condition.
“All or nothing!”
